Why increase galio's ap ratios when instead yo could've added another small MR ratio or two?

He's supposed to be the anti-mage tank right? Increasing ap ratios doesnt do crap except for make ap galio stronger. Why not give him more incentives to make him build mr and punish him when he doesn't?

And before anyone complains about not being able to do anything facing ad oriented teams, well, why did you pick galio into an ad oriented team/why did you blind first pick galio who is supposed to be a more niche champion?

Mid galio stays the same for the most part or even benefits so long as he isn't going up against an AD champion which is supposed to counter him anyways by virtue of being AD

#2 "tank galio needs to make sacrifices"

Armor tank galio will make sacrifices with this change while mr galio can still succeed, wow, it's like that's galio's niche in the first place.

this accomplishes that because he can only succeed going mr tank, armor tank galio sacrifices a lot. That fits into his intended niche anyways.

That would also make him much too specialized, which is another extreme I think Riot wants to avoid.

If they go in excess, I don't think a little something for his Q in place of higher ap ratios would make him too specialized.

Galio is the champion you should pick when the enemy has AT LEAST 2 ap champions and a hybrid (or if the AP champions on the enemy team are harder scaling than their AD champions). The ap ratio change doesn't change his generalist nature at all. The reality is that he doesn't have much in the way of MR scalings that really forces him to do much with mr other than maybe a visage or abyssal mask if he goes up against a team meant to counter him (AD oriented).

They went for these nerfs because they are target-nerfing Top-lane Galio. This way they don't touch mid Galio while nerfing Top Galio's waveclear.

this change would also help mid galio a lot unless he goes up against an ad assassin which is meant to counter him anyways by virtue of being ad.

Just make his W dmg reductions only apply to magic damage and last a bit longer. Now he dies to AD champs. He is just too generically good atm.

Galio might have a few extra benefits against magic damage dealers but it's not the reason you lock in Galio.
