Is Yorick what Mordekaiser should have been?

When I look at Yorick's current kit, I can't help but feel like it looks exactly like what a VGU for Mordekaiser handled by somebody competent should look like. All of the aspects of Yorick's kit aside from his ring wall are things that Mordekaiser had on his kit pre-rework. The Auto Reset The AOE on his E, reworked into a healthy skillshot with a slow attached Commanding a powerful ghostly unit that in turn commands smaller undead units (In Yorick's case) Raising the dead in general

It's eerily similar to all of the themes that Mordekaiser mains would want to preserve in a VGU. So is Yorick the VGU that Mordekaiser should have gotten?

Yes and No.

It's a solid Juggernaut Kit but it lacks Mordekaiser's core identity points like ripping the soul out of enemy champions, extreme durability and heavy AoE damage.

Would also cement him as more of a splitpusher which isn't what I imagined him to play as.

I think it would be cool if he could rip the soul out of enemy minions and make them serve him. Like a sort of "Everyone has a soul, so everyone is a possible slave"

Morde has a different identity imho. Yorick being the shepherd of lost souls, guiding them to find rest. Mordekaiser subverts them to his will.

Mordekaiser's presence, power, and mastery of metal is what (or did) cement his identity.

Where as Yorick may have a kit that fits the stereotypical "necromancer," his approach and overall goals do not match that at all in his lore. He is there to help, not command.

If Mordekaiser had a kit that fit his lore, then his enemies would kneel at his feet from fear and loss of hope. Not to mention his presence and sheer force of will would be enough to force them down anyway. Once there he would crush you under his boot or Nightfall. Your mortal body is no use to him, he would rather do away with the meaningless shell and command your now damned soul for eternity.

I actually have overlapping thoughts about the champs and almost see them as synonymous sometimes.

It's funny you brought this subject up.
