When riot said they "reset ranked"....

Does it mean that if you were in bronze 5 in season 4, you won't get bronze 5 again if you win a good amount of games? Like do you completely restart in a higher mmr?

It is a soft reset, meaning your MMR from last season definitely still matters, but everyone is averaged toward a base MMR.

To answer your question, yes, you will benefit slightly from this reset, depending on how you ended last season and how well you do during your 5 placement matches. Don't expect any huge jumps though. Bronze 5 means your MMR was very low, so unless you play extremely well, I don't see it improving too much, it at all. Putting it into perspective, the highest any player can place from Placement Matches is Platinum 1 after the reset - even those Masters and Challengers.

It is a soft reset, that means everyone will be put closer to the starting mmr (very first ranked game) but not on that starting mmr. Let's say we were bronze 5 at the end of the season and you win 50% of the placement matches you may be placed at bronze 3. Similary let's say we were gold 5 and win 50% of the placement matches you may be placed at silver 2.

It's always a soft reset. You'll get pulled closer to 1200 MMR. Diamond/Challengers will end up around 1400, silvers will end up around 1200, bronze 3 and below will prob end up around 1100 or less.
