PSA: Tristana is NOT a Hyper Carry Anymore

I realize this is a hard pill to swallow but Tristana is not a hyper carry. Her late game is actually comparable to many lane bullies. Please stop saying she's a hyper carry as she hasn't been most of the season.

How do I support this? Using WR by Game Length charts and comparing them between Lane Bullies and Hyper Carries.

Here is Tristana's for reference; I'll link several different stat websites since everyone seems to have favorites and will blatantly ignore any that aren't their favorite.

What I see is a huge spike in early game winrate with a nose dive to 47% until about 35 minutes and then it only rises to a 50%. In some cases, the difference between her early game WR and her late game WR are upwards of 10 to 15%. That's a fairly substantial difference. For those of you who aren't certain what this all means, it basically means that as a champion, Tristana is winning more games pre 25 minutes than she is winning post 35 minutes. In otherwords, the longer the game goes, the less likely she is to win the match.

This is not how a hyper carry's graph is intended to look. For the purpose of this thread, we'll use another popular hyper carry's graph for comparison. In this case, I'll be using Vayne. Here is her graphs from the various stat websites.

See the difference? See how Vayne's WR early game is usually negative, around the 47-48% but then starts spiking mid to late, late gaming getting as high as 57% in some cases. That's 7% higher than Tristana's average late game WR.

And just for comparison's sake, we'll look at the graphs of a popular lane bully champion, in this case Draven.

In most cases, Draven's WR by Game Length is nearly identical to Tristana's. His highest WR point is pre25 minutes and then after that, it nose dives. And, like Trist, yes, it does go back up to around a 50% WR but nothing compared to the WR he has before 25 minutes.

If statistics are not enough to convince you, however, we can compare Tristana's kits to other hyper carries. This will also help explain how she got into the point she is, where her late game godliness is more like a late game eh.

So what does Tristana have that would encourage people to believe she is a hyper carry? She has a Q that gives her 110% AS at rank 5; she maxes this second meaning she's level 13 before that happens. And she has a scaling passive that gives her 661 range at level 18. And she has her W, a resetting jump that allows her to leap around the battle field every time she gets a kill or assist. Those are solid things... except they all have fairly long CDs and/or take far too long to scale into the game.

Most games will end around the time bot lane Tristana is level 15-16. This will put her at 645 range and will mean that she only really has 110% AS for 2-3 levels. That's... not an exceptional amount of time. Furthermore, while the 110% AS is great, its just that. AS. Its AS on a champion who, in order to not be too far behind her fellow ADCs late game, is forced to build more crit and AS instead of say... AD..

This is a good point by which to start comparing her to other hyper carries, specifically ADCs.

Let's start with Jinx who is probably the most comparable to Tristana. In fact, I'd say she's just a less mobile but more cohesively put together Tristana. She has her Q which gives her bonus ramping AS(with a very limited CD) up to 130%, or which can give her 700 range, AoE critting rockets; she maxes this ability first so she not only gets her best ability for late game carrying earlier than Tristana by about five levels but she also gets higher range than Tristana earlier(by 9 levels). She also has resets which give her increased MS and AS, meaning that she can be nearly as mobile as Tristana without worrying about losing her massive boon to AS mid fight. On top of this, she has two forms of self peel that, albeit weaker, are on short CDs and one of which being a skillshot that she's actually able to use to check brushes and such. She also has the ability to snipe kills across the map with her executing, global ult.

So she gets the things that make her a hyper carry earlier in the game and has a passive that, honestly, gives her a better reset, and the ability to win or get fed through no fault of her laners what's so ever. Her teamfights are better(how do you argue with 700 range, AoE critting, Runaan assisted rockets?), her mid game is better, and, on top of this all, she wins more late game than Tristana, meaning she actually scales better.

To simplify things: Why would you pick Tristana when other hyper carries bring more to the table than just a resetting jump, 110% AS, and 661 range at level 18? You could pick Jinx and, like I previously stated, get AoE Rocket Crits, a reset that gives MS and bonus AS and that allows her to break the cap, 700 range(at level 9), a ramping AS steroid that never goes away as long as she's attacking and is 130%, and an ult with a huge AoE that can execute.

Or you could pick Vayne who has % health true damage, an AD steroid, a low CD dash, stealth, and a resetting ultimate.

Or you could pick Twitch who has true damage, huge AoE range(800), and resetting stealth/AS steroid.

Why would you pick Tristana over any of these other champion's who's late games are better?

Because these days you dont really reach late game or if we get past 30 min mark is because the winning team starts trolling/throwing or they decimate everything cementing their win. On rare cases is because the losing team is managing on its own to get picks and objectives and delay the game.

The state of the game is pretty much determinied in the first 20 mins or under. Trist has her E that helps taking tower easier and clear waves fast too like jinx. Trist has 2 ways to keep herself safe her W and R even though that isnt always enough to keep her alive. Also her W resets too every time her E blows up too not on kill/assist only.
