@Riot - Outcry for a support update after marksman update

RedCyclone··2 votes·524 views

Please tell us you have something planned for the stalest lane for 2+ years Only tank supports are picked with a little dabble of a fotm non-tank support who gets nerfed anyway

PLEASE! CAN WE HAVE A COMMENT ON THIS SITUATION, THROW US A BONE! I love getting downvotes, it's almost like all the tank supports are downvoting, fuck man, we don't want tank supports to be unviable, we want ap and utility support to be JUST as viable

whats wrong with support

still best role

RedCyclone2 votes

Because maybe 95% of the supports everyone picks are tank supports with good reason, they are just flat out better (most have great damage for their tankyness and often come with truckloads of CC in their kit) Mage/utility supports get no action when compared to tank supports, it's not nice

I agree it's a great role. Probably one of my favorites. Unfortunately you are just a walking ward bitch with no real job but vision and saving the adc when he gets out of position. Hard to change this in the meta unless you make it a 4 man game. I personally like to roam as a support but get flamed by my carry who dies while solo engaging duo bot and says "where were you!? stick with the ADC!!" and "troll support REPORTED!" no love for support players at all. Already a boring enough existence to just run around dropping wards but to get constant flame on top of that when you are just trying to lay down the best vision possible.....

That was long done last year, which ended up kicking an entire class of supports out of the game.

"We gave them utility scalings so they are not outclassed by mages :)"

"We gave them utility scalings so they are not outclassed by mages :)"

#so they are not outclassed by mages

The support class is the most balanced class in the game right now. Riot needs to stay away from it so they don't screw it up. They just need to rework some of the support ITEMS instead.

95% of supports are tank supports "balanced"

Top ten pick rates for supports from top to bottom:

Thresh Blitzcrank Leona Tank Morgana Braum Tank Janna Soraka TahmKench Tank Nautilus Tank Alistar Tank

You might want to actually know what you are talking about before posting.

RedCyclone1 votes

Oh, so Thresh and Blitz are not tank supports now?

Lugg2 votes

Blitz is a secondary tank, he is primarily a fighter. Thresh is a Support/Fighter.

So even if you count Blitz as a tank, 4 out of the 7 top supports are not tanks.

RedCyclone1 votes

He is still a tank support, who picks blitz and does not build him tanky?

7/10 of those champions are tank supports

Lugg1 votes

You build him to fit the situation. If you have a tanky top and a tanky jungler, you build him with utility. That's why he is so popular, you don't have to build him tank and you can still succeed.

Even if you do build him straight tank, he won't be as tanky as Braum, Leona, Nautilus, etc.

RedCyclone1 votes

Stop grasping at straws, you build blitz tanky 95% of the time, the only difference being between him and other tank supports is that you want to get a coin eventually, fucker still is difficult to kill, comes loaded with cc and has redic damage for what it is

Lugg1 votes

Grasping at straws? ROFL. I'm a support main who probably has more Blitz games than you have total games. You want to start coin 90% of the time and he only does ridiculous damage if you build him for damage. He is tanky due to his passive.

A typical game for him is item 3069 item 3117 item 2045 item 3060 item 3110 and the last item is based on your opponents.

Thresh and Blitz are tanks. They build tank items, they have lots of CC, and are difficult to kill.

7/10 are tanks.

2/10 (Morg and Janna), are good counters to tanks.

The reason there aren't more tanks is because the only other traditional tank support is Taric who is getting a needed rework.

Lugg1 votes

Thresh is not a tank. Look it up. Blitz is a secondary tank. Just because someone is difficult to kill doesn't make them a tank. If that's true, then Zed, LB, Fizz, etc. are all tanks as well.

Plus, 8 of the top 13 win rates in Plat+ ELO (all over 50%) are non tanks. Tanks are only perceived as stronger, the numbers don't really back it up.

Zorae422 votes

You know what I meant by hard to kill. They have a large amount of HP and resistances and have abilities designed to increase their ability to mitigate dmg (their passives).

Straight from Thresh's Champion Spotlight:

In this edition of the Champion Spotlight, we’ll show you how Thresh, the Chain Warden supports your team with a powerful collection of crowd control abilities, displacement effects and harassing attacks. As a tanky support,

Next you'll be saying that Kayle is a support even though she's a terrible support.

Win rates == strength.

Lugg1 votes

Let's look at Thresh's base stats: 560.5 health +93 lvl, 16 armor +0 lvl (he gains armor from souls, so he doesn't get tanky till late game but he is basically squishy early), 30 MR +0 lvl. Compare that to Leona: 576.1 health +87, 27.2 +3.6 lvl, MR 32.1 +1.25 lvl. See the difference? His base stats are equivalent to Bard, and I don't think anyone considers him a tank.

Kayle is a Fighter/Support. Support is her secondary role, just like Ashe is a Marksman/Support.

We should probably wait and see how the marksman update goes first before asking any changes for support changes, see how it effects supports.
