Also riot: You can't buy any jungle items without smite. And you don't get as much exp from jungle camps without a jungle item

There's a difference between a/ not enforcing a meta and giving room to people to experiment; and b/ offering fake choices and noob-traps.

Enforcing a meta is bad, removing real choices and option is bad, but removing fake choices is a good thing.

There is no fake choice. They didn't like smite top because it wasn't tp.

You can still go Smite Top, for all I know... What you can NOT do is going Jungle without Machette+Smite. And that's a good thing, 'cause nobody wants a cheesy Shaco with Flash/Exhaust and it's a pretty dumb idea to not take Smite on pretty much any other Jungler.

I think Riot kissed that "we don't want to enforce a meta" mentality goodbye a long time ago. Teambuilder in ranked was the first step.

They tried a teambuilder before that where you could try different team comps like double jungle. Nobody joined those teams and everyone stuck with the standard team compisition.

Sightstone isn't forced but it is highly recommended since supported will have many active items anyways. It also allows the support to get red trinket and help deny vision. If you want to build Morgan's full ap instead of healing and warding Morgana then go for it! It isn't recommended but at higher elos your team will hate you. At low elos your team will either love you or hate you. There is no middle ground.

How do you build Morgana to heal? Solely use Redemption? Also, you can go full ham AP Morgana or Sona by building Eye of the Watchers and then rolling into an AP build. So you are perfectly capable of having a sightstone and doing the build path you want.

Eh, jungle items being limited to smite is kinda tolerable since they directly alter that spell anyway and offer really nice stats for jungling, but impractical for laners. I mean only cinderhulk has decent stats for its price but it's offers health only and far less then other items that provide health and some kind of damage resist.
