Akali's early damage needs to go down now that she has pre-6 mobility.

Akali's laning is way too strong against melee champions now that she can use her W to proc her Q. Laning top against Akali as pretty much any melee champ is a nightmare right now. Once she hits lvl 2, you're forced to zone yourself whenever her Q is on you, which is pretty much nonstop given that its cooldown is lower than its duration. Fail to do so and you'll get chunked for a large amount of damage while she heals and then scurries away with her shroud. But you still need to zone yourself as long as the shroud is up even if she's already procced Q because she can easily proc another one before that 8 second shroud times out. And once she's 6 and has revolver? Watch out, because she can engage at will and win trades against pretty much anyone. It doesn't really get better for her melee opponents until 30+ minutes when you can build up a solid mix of durability and damage. Good luck with that when most games end well before that these days.

You don't need to just take my word for it though. The Rank 1 player in NA right now is an Akali top main. He had a 191-80 record on Akali last season, which is a 70% winrate. He also happens to be the Rank 2 player in NA as well, with similar Akali stats on that account. Maybe I'm just biased, but I feel like an assassin that is supposed to have a weak early game shouldn't be a god tier top laner.

TF Blade is basically the only Akali player in challenger. I'd imagine that if she was as strong as you make her out to be, she'd be more prevalent in the champion pool of challengers.

While Akali is a stat check champ and has a pretty bad kit, her windows of opportunity are still present.

Also Blade is just a good player overall. It's less to do with Akali, and more with him being so great at League.

and blade is just really good at the game

Takes a quick look at Akali's actual stats.

Well bellow average pickrate, almost non-existent banrate, fairly average winrate.

I'm pretty sure Akali's not broken and you found a singular example of a pretty good Akali player. Just quit your bitching, there's actual huge issues in the game right now, Akali isn't one.

Akali has pre-6 mobility? AHAHAHAHA

Amazing joke.

Her W is a blink shorter than Kindred's Q. That's not mobility. That's barely enough to dodge a skillshot.

And you're looking at a Challenger one-trick and trying to claim she's broken. That's...absurd. The best player in the region is obviously going to have a well-above 50% winrate on a champion. You don't get to be there otherwise.

Akali doesn't have a weak early game, anyways. She was just thought of as that, because she can't kill pre-6, unless her opponent is literally retarded (or thrown into her). Her going top lets her actually farm and be relevant before then (as opposed to being poked to death in mid),but it doesn't change the fact that she still can't actually kill anyone before then.

You want to fuck Akali over? Pick any champion that has poke and AoE damage of any kind. Literally any champion that can poke her and isn't completely reliant on autos beats her pre-6, and most toplane champions don't auto lose to her at 6. Or you can just stat-check her, because she can't do anything about that.

I audibly snorted at pre-6 “mobility”

That isn’t what is breaking her top lane; removal of pink wards is what makes her more oppresive.

More like her W needs to last at least 2 or 3 less seconds or have a much higher cooldown.

item 3146 item 3146 item 3146 item 3146 item 3146

Maybe if Riot was to address this item AP assassins wouldn't be as cancerous to deal with. It removes the risk of diving in when you get a soft CC and extra damage to your kit. Same problem with why Katarina is in a good spot atm. Just like Duskblade, the item is too good and covers the weaknesses of the champions that build it while providing extra burst.

Im not an akali main or anything but i did play her a descent amount, especially in the top lane and she is strong but not in all cases. Champions like darius, galio, irelia, garen, renekton will shut her down hard. item 3155 is what you should be rushing to invalidate her damage following up with item 3111 and item 3065 will ruin her day. Since runes were removed she has no more early magic pen and akali isnt a champion who will rush haunting and sorc boots before gunblade. Dont look at the win rate of challenger players because very good players can make different champions work, sort of how this one player got to challenger playing sejuani mid only or this other who played sion only (mid, adc, jungle, top, support) -pre rework.

Its the player in this case not the champion, not trying to invalidate your point but akali does have counters that can out trade her and out sustain her.
