Reminder that Ivern has had a 55%+ win rate for ELEVEN patches now

Eedat··86 votes·4,054 views

#with the majority of those being 57%+

When is he getting actual nerfs? Not that BS baby "nerf" he got this patch. It had absolutely no affect on him. It pretty disgusting at this point that a champion can remain at this level of blatantly broken OP for this long.

I'll just keep permabanning him in all my games

Ahri legit has been the same since season 4, why the hell are people now catching on at how good she is....

It's been an ongoing process.

I've never seen anyone on the boards complain about Ahri until season 7.

Her whole play pattern was changed in season 5. You don't know what you're talking about.

I sort of want that charm amp back. They could rework the speed boost stuff into a new passive and make it only accessible with 9 stacks or something. The heal stuff is mediocre anyway. Then we can have assassin ahri back which surely does commit to a fight and can be punished. and at some extent we can keep the current ahri for the same time. win-win

MohawkBird1 votes

Eh even assassin Ahri never truly committed to a kill. She's similar to Zed (or what he used to be) in the sense that she can go in, and if she ends up realizing a mistakes as made just press R and get out of the situation. Honestly assassin Ahri never really died anyways, her playstyle has always been to go into a fight and use the ridiculous amount of mobility to not get caught and kill a priority target.

Noooo, she doesn't have one of the most dedicated playerbases or anything... It's not like she's been like this for two years where nobody bats an eye until the top tier mid laners above her get nerfed... It's not like she's gotten non-negligible indirect buffs over the past couple years with things like the new masteries and keystones... It couldn't possibly be she's just overly safe with the Q MS they gave her that nobody asked for.

Call her whatever you think, even if it may or may not be wrong, but she is not "broken".

Edit: So many downvotes out of ignorance.

Indeed, she doesn't.

LyingOnLine14 votes

Kid, if you're going to quote stats, you should probably bother to actually look at them.

See that "Playerbase Average games played" stat? See how Ahri's near the bottom for midlaners? Your arbitrarily chosen statistic doesn't support anywhere near the argument you think it does.

NineTailedMystic4 votes

And then you compare play rates. Malzahar's handful of mains (1.49% PR) who still play him mid vs Ahri's massive 22% pick rate. For every Malzahar main, there's more than a handful of Ahri mains. Outweighs the minor 19 games played difference. Even before Ahri becoming fotm she maintained a 12% play rate. The only champions who can rival that are the likes of Lee, Zed, Yasuo, Riven, etc.

Not to mention fotm players bringing down the average.

Kid.

LyingOnLine7 votes

Kid, even if I accepted that the champion.gg stats on the subject were accurate (this is the part where I don't. Shit's been wonky in that area since they went to their new system), your argument isn't one.

"Oh, she has one of the most dedicated playerbases, so much so that they outweigh all the people who play her casually and bring her winrate up over what her actual power level" is entirely incompatible with the insinuation that FOTM players, who should be the ones bringing her winrate down, are so numerous as to artificially drag her average in that particular statistic into the gutter, but not numerous enough to give her a non-bullshit winrate.

And that's before we get to the fact that a large dedicated playerbase (on account of being a waifu and OP) is not the same thing as being the most dedicated playerbase.

Face it. You typed some stupid bullshit and got called out.

Gregor Gysi7 votes

Not to mention fotm players bringing down the average.

Exactly. So why don't they bring down her winrate aswell?

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Because she's hard to actually fail at due to her safety. It's not easy to succeed on Ahri but it's easy to not feed as well.

Gregor Gysi9 votes

According to the facts both is easy. Once Ahri players have 30 games on her they have reached 58% winrate and will probably not improve much further.

Ahri beginners start at a high level, improve and peak very quickly and very highly.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Because her skill floor is too low.

SoryInAdvance3 votes

for a champion who's kit entirely revolves around skill shots, she shouldn't be so easy.

NineTailedMystic3 votes

...her skill floor is too low because she's too safe. She isn't punished enough for failing her skillshots. This is why I advocate the removal of her Q MS.

SoryInAdvance1 votes

no, it definitely still is a skill shot...just easier to land on the charmed target, there still may be more targets to hit though.

doiminat0r36002 votes

Only ~ 6.3% of all Ahri games are people new to her. The rest have 50+ games with her. Over 60% have 150+ games with her.

It doesn't matter that she is the most played as that isn't what everyone is complaining about. Everyone is saying her winrate is so high but the reason it's so high is becasue well over 70% of all Ahri games are people that have been playing her for 100+ games.

Dusk Mane Rengar2 votes

Rengar had (cause rework made player base dissapear) one of the most dedicated player base EVER and he got nerfed despite his 48% winrate in early s6.

And he was in the same situation than Ahri, indirect buffs, however Rengar got 2 nerfs and one of them totally unjustitified. While ahri, oh yes she can't now interrupt dashes with her E, such a nerf.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Because she doesn't delete someone from stealth in under .5s. Rengar is in awful state, but he needed his rework. But like all Riot reworks, they missed the 50/50 on making it good.

Dusk Mane Rengar2 votes

Yeah but she failed and still fails everything and still kill you with R an W.

And no Rengar didn't need a Rework just some tweaks.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Killing someone with W and R doesn't really happen unless they were already low (50% or less). A large majority of her damage comes from her Q.

As for the rework, he definitely needed the R changes. The exclamation point wasn't noticeable at all, and the new one rewards/punishes positioning from both sides. Otherwise, while I know Rengar mains love his E Bola combo in the air, being able to do it instantly wasn't healthy. The biggest travesty of his rework was his W.

NineTailedMystic2 votes

Group, that was your counterplay, lol.

Dusk Mane Rengar1 votes

Going to paste what i answered to other user YOU about how to counter Rengar, counterplay existed ( i never had problems against a Rengar) but you prefered to moan how unfair he was.

How to counter old Rengar from Bronze to Challenger in 2 and simple steps.

1- Get a item 2055 and place it near your carry at the start of a fight. Using item 3364 when you see the mark is a great idea too. 2-CC and Exhaust him when he is about to jump.

Congratulations! Rengar can't do shit now.

BONUS!

-If he uses EMP Q before jumping just flash or use your dash when he is mid jump to avoid his bola and stay away of bushes. Then just kite a melee champ who has no ways of reaching you. Caitlyn Ezreal Vayne Tristana Graves LucianKalista Quinn are all great at this, and some of then even have an extra way of disengage.

-If he uses EMP E while jumping use your dash or flash when he is mid jump. You can use item 3140 to clean his bola if he traps you and then just kite him.

-Be careful when picking immobile ADC if Rengar has been picked, i wouldn't recommend do it unless you have enough peel.

-AlistarJanna Karma Kindred Leona Sona Taric ZileanLeeSin Azir TahmKench can all make Rengar's job a complete nightmare.

Still not enough counterplay?

Alright!

-item 3046 item 3812 Negates part of Rengar damage easily. -item 3102 can be used to protect yourself from part of Rengar combo. -item 3047 blocks some Rengar's damage -item 3143 effective against crit Rengar.

EDIT: LOL you were the user who i wrote this to. And you still think there was no counterplay are you fucking kidding me? LMFAO.

I just said it was dumb how instantly he deleted someone, and how unnoticeable the exclamation on his R was.

Yes, sorry for being aggressive but im pretty sure that Rengar got reworked because people didn't want to learn to play against him so it really triggers me when people cry that Rengar has no counterplay.

What exactly is OP about Ivern that everyone hates?

His ganks aren't that great since it depends purely on his Q. His E is good I'll admit but even then it's not that big of a shield, the CD is pretty low but considering lux and morgana exist who cares about his His W I have yet to see do anything amazing. His ult is outclassed heavily by Tibbers. Heck even morde being able to get dragon is far scarier. Compared to them daisy is a flower (pun intended)

I legit don't get what all the fuss is about. Usually when I see Iverns they suck. The ones that do good usually end up losing cause they lack the ability to damage anything

SH Azykan13 votes

Iverns not someone people hate, he is just someone who adds a LOT of power to his team and is a huge enabler. His ganks might not be the greatest, but if he hits that Q it is an incredibly lethal gank if his laner has good all in strength already, which is a very popular situation at the moment. His ganks are also lower opportunity cost due to his method of clearing the jg, meaning his ganks have more uptime. His Q cd is really low for its snare duration as well, can make chasing an ivern or escaping one incredibly difficult in the jungle (and gives his team a lot of time to collapse) His W prior to this nerf made contesting objectives a lot harder if he brought along a pink ward the enemy team literally could not get vision of the objective without being on top of it. This nerf isnt the hardest hit ever but he still has immensely good vision denial on drakes and baron. His E cd is really low and it doesn't lose the slow if you break the shield making an allies engage even stronger or even harder to punish them since its cd is also low, artificially inflating a targets hp by quite a bit throughout a teamfight. Daisy isnt tibbers no, but daisy brings her own CC, and is a HUGE body block. can be exceptionally annoying and is yet another feather in Iverns Utility Cap.

And the biggest thing...Ivern doesnt need combat stats in the jungle. His clears are the exact same whatever he buys. So he buys items that push his Utility even further. He buys the High impact support items, but his budget isnt a supports, it is a junglers. Meaning he gets redemption, locket, and other items even earlier than a support could, and when you end up putting it all together you get a person that is just a huge walking ball of utility that enables his team insanely hard. And since everyone plays a carry it seems, he has plenty of people to just make it so much easier for a person or 2 to just run over a game with him and the other support behind them making them insanely hard to kill, and insanely hard to peel.

Unfortunately this also makes him a very hard target to nerf. hitting his jungle clear instantly guts him as other junglers will walk all over him and not let him get anywhere. His Q being so loaded makes number hits not as impactful, unless you hit the root duration and cd, nothing else much matters to him with it. They hit his W in the only way they could. His E needs a cd increase, and/or to make it if they enemy breaks the shield that it loses the slow/damage. His ult is honestly fine, only thing I would hit on it, is make daisy a little smaller so I could stop fckn clicking daisy instead of the carry she is standing on top of. And Redemption needs a nerf, or less perfect synergy with locket. Those 2 items fit so well together with the actives/stats on them that it is nasty strong when you get both even on supports.

Ivern and Irelia5 votes

-Youre right, theres not much they can do to his passive without destroying him.

-For his Q, increasing the Cd at lower ranks would be a suitable nerf, as well as lowering the time window for the follow up Dash

-Theres not much more they can do for his W

-Ah, now for this part. For a while now ive seen many people saying that the dmg portion should be lost when the sheild breaks, but doing that would truely strip alot of dmg from Ivern. In the majority of cases (particularly in the mid and late game) his shield is broken before the dmg activates. So making his shield like sion's would ultimately make him lose his main source of consistant dmg. Any Ivern main, especially those of us who have been playing him since day 1, knows that he is currently sitting at his weakest state. So making this E change would really just force Ivern to only build support items, as it would be completly pointless to build dmg because the shield dmg would never proc. My proposition for some e changes would be to lower the Base shielding and dmg of the E, while increasing the Ap ratios for it.

-Cant forget Daisy! Daisy has defintely seen better days, and in all honestly she is much too underpowered at the moment. With the armor/mr reductions and the removal of her self regening, daisy dies Far too quickly now before she can do any real dmg (which is already poor to begin with). So i think a good change would be to up the Cd for Iverns R at all ranks, while increasing daisy's stats.

[I actually have many more ideas (fleshed out ones) for potential changes to ivern to make him feel more fair to play against while making him more suitable to play has (outside of just stealing enemy camps and using that 8 minute redemption). I may be making a post discussing them soon, so look out for that]

Tormentula1 votes

Honestly, if they just lower the cooldown of his E I might find him a bit more tolerable.

He gets his core items too easily, his E is on such a spammable cooldown, and he has everybody's most favoritate playstyle: the your jungle is now mine and only early game champions who can punish it will do well playstyle. I remember watching LCS yesterday and one of the casters even said "I believe graves is meta cause ivern is and graves can punish ivern like early game junglers"

I have no idea how they can fix his "support budget with a jungler's income" problem, but its a major one.

Ivern and Irelia3 votes

Well that caster must not know what hes talking about because Graves has been meta loooooong before the concept of ivern was even thought of.

Iverns not someone people hate, he is just someone who adds a LOT of power to his team and is a huge enabler.

This 1000 times over. Ivern loses a duel to nearly every champion in the early game without stats. He's not an exceptional duelist on his own, and any early-game jungler will walk all over him without team assistance. I like to think of him as a rich support, being able to build Redemption, Locket, Athene's, etc. and supplement his team's power - just like you said. The main issues are exactly what you pointed out - interactions like him keeping the shield slow and damage even if it breaks makes it very unrewarding for the enemy team, as Ivern will just throw a shield on his Diver and have an AoE slow to the entire enemy team now. He's always going to be in a problematic spot in Summoner's Rift regardless of changes due to his passive allowing him to freely clear jungle camps without requiring any items, however I feel that with a few Quality of Life changes (like the recent W nerfs) will greatly help push him into a more stable position.
