Rageblade spellvamp buffed to 20% but make it unique (can't stack)

Much like how you can no longer stack Blood thirsters. My reasoning: There aren't enough slots in this game to warrant going for two sustain items unless you going full dps. especially since this item is intended for bruisers that can live below 50% health and make it worth their while.

currently 10% spell vamp isnt cutting it. There's a reason spell vamp should more than lifesteal. its because you can't spam spells like you do auto attacks.

TF bortk combo on a champion like Jax should really be TF rageblade in most cases unless facing a really tank oriented team or if your team has too much ap damage, or if you need the active slow. Rageblade should be a difficult decision to pick vs botrk on hybrid champs. Right now its not even a close runner up.

My second suggestion which I've posted previously: would be to remove the cooldown on surge. Such that it's always up when your above 50% health. A way to nerf it a bit would be to shorten surge's up time when above 50% health (lasts maybe just 4 seconds). Currently: The unique passive ends after 10 seconds of neither dealing nor receiving damage.

Kingblade isn't grabbed because it's superior in sustain.

It's because a slow/speed active is really nifty, and because %HP damage keeps scaling as the game goes on (rather than being like Crit and requiring additional item slots to really shine), causing the %HP to effectively free up an item slot for defense on Jax.

Rageblade is generally terrible for the inverse reasons of %HP on Kingblade - you're specifically trapping yourself into 2 stats (AD and AP) that tend to require additional offensive itemization to really shine, and to make matters worse - AD and AP stats do not multiply one-another's effectiveness like ADASCritArmor PenLife steal or APLich BaneMagic Pen*CDR.

You're buying an item with late-game stats that doesn't scale into late-game, which is counter-initiative. Champions that end a game with 50% magic, 50% physical usually favor items that specifically don't scale into late game (and have a healthy cost-efficiency early) like Wit's End On-hit, Trinity Force's base AD crit, Kingblade's %HP damage, and more. When looking at champions like Shyvana Udyr DrMundo and Jax , the idea is usually big gains early via item 3078 and item 3153 through base-AD sheen procs and %HP shred. Then offense technically scales the potency of defense and vise-versa. The longer you live the longer you get to deal damage, which generally covers the disadvantage of stuff like Tri-Force's proc not scaling with any items.

Anyways - Rageblade is a bad item for the build path it encourages. I'm not sure adding more sustain helps it out, especially seeing as it's beyond awful on everyone but like, 3 champions (Jax Kayle Teemo ). Which mostly means a item 3124 buff is a buff to some very specific champions.

First understand that the built in attack speed on its own helps bridge the gap between the ap and ad forms or as you put it helps; “multiplay one-another's effectiveness”.

(rather than being like Crit and requiring additional item slots to really shine), causing the %HP to effectively free up an item slot for defense on Jax.

Either way your scaling as the game progresses with items or not, so its a pretty negligible/mute point the same can be said for rageblade. it scales if you get more cdr since you can spellvamp more from say poppy's q. it can also scale well if you get hexdrinker later into the game or just get tankier to increase your odds of surviving longer at lower health. the ap ratio can help a xinzhao/warwick who get spirit visage later in the game. Bortk with spirit visage all your getting is 2% lifesteal.

Its not trapping when your kits benefits from all of its stats. For example it buffs jax's ult more than botrk does.

ad and ap can multiply each other's effectiveness. In the case of poppy fizz, nidalee and twisted fate. Their ad is converted into ap thereby allowing void staff to complement it.

it depends how you see it. Say i'm skarner. and i get bigger shields from the ap. that means i live more allowing me to auto you more. My ap just helped me do more ad

wits end and rageblade could pair well on a nunu with blood boil. You can quickly lower their resistance with wits end and then q them. Or shyvana with e. wits end and rageblade should be a match made in heaven. Atm its not even a thing.

volibear ult can spellvamp off of neighboring creeps with his ult. Even if its 30% of 20%spellvamp. It add up. Moreso than just with 10%spellvamp. At least with this buff it'll be worth thinking twice whether to get king over rageblade.

I understand why botrk is the superior option. What i'm trying to say is that it shouldnt be that much of a no brainer on certain champs whose kits have ap ratios for a reason. Right now only trinity force seems to do it for those champs. Meanwhile rageblade is just sitting there.

a buff to rageblade is a buff to expanding the repertoire of viable build options for a slew of champions including:Shenshen, XinZhao xinzhao, Volibear volibear (ult), Warwick warwick, Udyr udyr (Not just for PhoenixDyr either, did you know his q has a 100% spellvamp ratio), Shaco shaco, Skarner skarn, Jax jax, Shyvana shyvana (below mallet example), Sion sion, Irelia irelia, the new Fizz fizz, Nidalee nidalee, Evelynn evelyn, Poppy poppy. Kennen Kennen electrical surge passive auto scales with ad. Similarly TwistedFate can make use of some ad. if Leblanccan pull off full AD leblanc. then there's no reason a Diana couldn't benefit from rageblade. The attackspeed on her passive would synergize with the extra ad. And spell vamp is a good item on her, her ult gives her 100% spellvamp.

EvenAkali Akali since her passive gives her auto's ap dmg getting attack speed is worth while item on her. I think akali with rylais wouldn't necessarily need the slow from gunblade and could be fine with just getting rageblade instead. I'd say it would work on shyvana but probably not since she has no cc (unless she got mallet) actually come to think of it that would be pretty good. So rageblade mallet wits end could be a viable build. Finally a build that doesn't call forth the mighty sheen. and this works nicely as shyvana doesn't use mana.

all these champions have ways of stay alive at low health long enough to make it worth while to benefit from a sustain when low and or they tend to build somewhat tanky.

Its also particularly handy if say they face the likes of Malphite top, or Rammus jungle or even Taric support etc and you don't plan on getting armor pen but would rather counter their armor scaling by making them get more mr.

I would also like to bring up this larger envision I have in mind... You see, I recently posted this thread proposing to allow lich bane's sheen proc to lifesteal.

{quoted}

If it were up to me I'd even give lich bane 100% ad (it builds from sheen after all so why should it be less on the final item). You would then lower the ap ratio considerably all the way to 25% (or 30% depending on pbe test results) but increase the item's base ap up to 100. that way it works nicely on both champions who don't use lifesteal but wish to get more out of their deathcap giving their base spells more dmg. and it doubles as a good way to give hybrid champions who lean a bit more on the ap side a way to benefit from it.

Picture this, irelia with lich bane and rageblade instead of botrk trinity force. her e gets the full 20% spell vamp. and her ult scales with ap. giving her more sustain from it. She would likely save her ult for when she's low on health. Her ult was made for rageblade.

with these revision I think you'll see as many botrk trinity builds as you'll see rageblade lich bane builds. One catering to a more ad the other for those with better ap scaling.

Both closely matched

item 3124 item 3068 item 3091 item 3065 item 3025 item 3111

This would be so good on fizz top.

Possible build path would consist of two long swords and a tome. Giving you 20 ad and 20 ap. Combined they give you a miniature version of surge 8% lifesteal and 10% spellvamp and 10% attack speed when below 50% health. would cost around 1650 gold It also gives attack speed stacks, but no ap stack yet (or maybe also have it stack with ap as well) only by 2% as and 2ap per stack. Said item could be called furious blade, blade of fury or Rageblade Jr. there needs to be a be some incentive on upgrading the item or else a lot of people will keep furious blade for the better part of the game and delay upgrading it. So perhaps not giving "furious blade" ap stacks would be best. Or give rageblade 5 ap per stack. 5x8 = 40.

For another 1000-1400 gold or so you can get rageblade. It'll be a direct upgrade from "rageblade jr".

final cost would be around 3k gold a closer price point to botrk. With stats that can contend wih it depending on whether the champs scale mainly with ap.

Since this is an item intended for early game lane survivability offering the sustain portion early on is important to compete against cutlass etc. The enemy can feel pretty safe trade with you if your above 50% health but will think twice before they all in you, unless they have ignite of course.

Come to think of it. Rageblade's rework would have a timely release along side a buff to cleanse.
