As nice as the animations in game are

I’d much prefer they didn’t flat out lie to you about where the actual hit box is for them.

Think of all the skillshots in this game with TERRIBLE hit boxes compared to their animations.

Yasuo’s tornado Morgana’s bind Lux’s everything Nidalee’s spear Aatrox’s w Urgot’s ultimate Even just champion hit boxes overall. Look at chogaths entire existence.

There’s and endless list of skillshots who’s animations just don’t line up with their hit boxes at all.

The solution? Give us an option to have an overlay that shows the hit boxes of the game. Its wouldn’t even be hard to implement because you already have all the information for those hitboxes.

The problem isn't the animation.

It's the incoherent circular hitbox (League has no 3rd dimension, everything is handled in 2D so the champion hitbox is just a circle under the champion) under the champ that often don't match the champ's actual size, as well as the ancient relic called "lollipoping" that's somehow still in the game.

"Lollipoping" is quite literally the equivalent of aim-assist in League, where it makes skillshots that fly "close enough" to land even if they've actually missed the target. This was included in the very early time of League's existence when skillshot was a super new thing and Riot feared that landing skillshot is too taxing on the player so they added this little aim-assist feature to make skillshots easier to land. But ofc over the years people have gotten A LOT better in landing skillshots and such feature is now not only no longer necessary, its existence actually cripples the gameplay because many otherwise missed skillshots have landed unfairly.

  • Notice how the things you're complaining about are all line skillshots? Because lollipoping is only a thing on straight line skillshots.
  • The name "lollipoping" comes from the direct reference that it is only a thing on line skillshots and its shape when it functions. Imagine a line skillshot that flies to a target but misses, but the feature kicks in and the skillshot's hitbox extends around the tip of the skillshot and then counts the target being included in the expanded circle rather than the line itself, giving the skillshot's hitbox a shape of a "lollipop".

Riot needs to tidy up champion hitbox and actually remove lollipoping from the game already.

Nah. Different thing spaghetti code is what causes shit like Kayn’s w Still going off if started before lulu’s polymorph, still doing the damage, and not slowing the target.

Lolipoping isn’t even my biggest problem. The problem is how wrong a lot of the animations are.

I’ll use Morgana as the example again. Her q’s hitbox isn’t only wider than it says by a fair margin, but the range it travels Is so much shorter than the animation says as well. Like I’m talking a full length of the skillshot shorter than it says.

Or hell ashe’s ultimate is a extremely well known one. 70% of the actual animation for the ability is just cosmetic. The actual hitbox is all the way in the back of the arrow.
