Thats not true at all. Thornmail was meant to be the counterplay to lifesteal - not the other way around.

Thornmail is also only really good against high ASP low AD - standard crit builds will still work very well.

Wrong, it's the other way around dude. Thornmail is the counter to life steal. Also, you shouldn't really be able to "counter play" items that don't either make you have to aim the active or some similar effect (like Zz'Rot Portal). The stats sure, but not the items themselves.

Meanwhile there is no counterplay to your resourceless ranged no cooldown point and click nukes.
