People Are Complaining About Ekko

Creamy Seaman··29 votes·2,420 views

Complaining about his stun. The stun that you have to be a retard to get hit by. And his ult that you have to be blind to get hit by. Take away his ult and w and he can't really do anything. So engage him while his ult is down. DO NOT ENGAGE WHILE HE IS ON THE OTHER TEAM. LET THEM ENGAGE YOU BECAUSE CHANCES ARE THAT IF YOU ENGAGE THE GHOST WILL BE NEAR YOU. hope i help a little.

It happens every champ release. People don't know how to play against the new champion so they cry "overpowered". His stun/shield has a 3 second indicator, and people were bitching about Veigar's point and click stun getting a .75 second indicator... The only complaint that holds any weight is his ultimate having 0 mana cost. Adding a mana cost to that would be fine, he'd still be strong and it would give the people demanding nerfs something until the next "X is OP" champion takes over.

Just to clarify, the skill has a total delay of 3 seconds, but the enemy team can only see the last 0.5 seconds.

So if they're unfortunate enough to be in the zone and can't react fast enough (which they should) then they're toast.

And it's irrelevant, because for a full 2.5 seconds the teams are all moving around and not standing still and will probably end up dodging the field unintentionally anyway.

Even if they SEE it 0.5 seconds before it hits, for Ekko, it's still a 3 second delay.

Also even if you don't land the stun, you gotta admit, that's some first released level 18 yasuo shield there even more then that maybe.

I must be the most retarted person alive, because as I run away, he sends it out where I can't see it until he's right behind me and I get stunned. It's not just the stun, but that shield is so large.

Then there's his passive.

If I were to play with just his Q and E, I'd bet I'd still get kills and win lane.

Creamy Seaman2 votes

it's so obvious where it is going to be just like lee sin's Q (not like a skillshot but as in predictability)

You do understand that the opponent doesn't see where its going to be until its about to happen, right? Your teammates can see it, but opponents cannot. It was in the Ekko Champion Abilities Rundown video.

You have a 3 second warning that he cast it, you just can't see where. If he's close to you and you move in any direction, you have an 80% chance of avoiding it. If you CC him and move away or have any form of mobility, you can avoid it every time.

The only champions who can get hit by it are those with no CC or mobility, all of which can likely kill Ekko before it even finishes casting. Even then, they only have a 20% chance of getting hit by it.

That's such a lie. I don't know one tank, fighter, assassin, support, marksman, or mage that can one shot Ekko before he traps them in his W. He is weak to tanks, but can out match every other champion I can think of if they don't have AS boost of mobility to avoid it. Not even Graves, who is all about close up attacks and a +10 Armor and MR passive is able to face him with his Q+passive+E.

I don't want to say Ekko is OP, but the dude needs a nerf.

Malzahar. Dude does not give fucks.

Rew7111 votes

Malzahar seriously uses almost all the mana he has. To be able to use just his E+W+R+pet would take some serious skill. I can't see Malzahar winning against Ekko. Sure his R can hold him down and deal a lot of damage, but so does Ekko; Malzahar's ultimate only beats Ekko's by 50 damage. Malzahar also sacrifices a lot of mana to summon a pet, 4 spells worth. All of his spells cost over 100 mana by mid-late game.

How is Ekko going to hit Malz with his ult? Is Malz helpfully going to walk into the trail? Is Malz mentally handicapped?

Rew7111 votes

lol, you thought I was even thinking of Ekko using R on Malzahar.

All he has to do is out CS Malzahar with his Q, land some W+E's to activate his passive. Or some E+Q's. Or some W+Q's. Or W+E+Q. And he will win since Malzahar is a serious mana hog. Sends E on Ekko, Ekko uses W+E on Malzahar, shield takes most of the E damage. Malzahar tries to run, Ekko uses his Q. Malzahar must retreat back to base, Ekko gains the advantage. He can roam, try to kill Malz, try to push turrent, etc. Malzahar use R against Ekko, after it is done, Ekko reverts to his R, heals and deals damage to any ganks and can use his Q to stop enemies. If Malzahar uses his E again, Ekko can just use his W to shield him.

Ekko's fast Q is lower range than everything Malz has and Q can't wave clear.

Rew7111 votes

it doesn't have to be long ranged. Malzahar may have a silence, but he needs to first use his E before he can do more. So if he were to use his Q, he'd have to then use his E (either on Ekko or to farm up mana from minions) + W and may be able to come in with his R.

The only one I would even want to put up against Ekko in mid lane is Brand. But I don't even own Brand yet, so...

Is their mouse broken? They can't get out of his W at any point during the 3 second telegraph?

Rew7111 votes

Ekko doesn't need to get out of the way, and its as soon as Ekko enters it that they are stunned. They can be in the side and try to escape with a dash or flash, but if Ekko gets them with his E, they are technically stunned. Seen it so many times.

It's not hard to get away from though. Its not really the active that annoys me, its the W passive that gets me.

Talon. I destroy Ekko with Talon.

I'm just lucky I had PBE to play with and against Ekko. Once people see how to fight him it's easy.

and on top of that the shield n stun do not stack sorta..... the shield only lasts 2s while the stun lasts 2.5....meaning by the time ur unstun his shield will be down for u to do wat u will to him agin

Indeed, that under turret death was such a juke and he fell for it.

In other news, I saw one post about a Diana complaining that she went all in against Ekko, he survived, then bursted her with his Ulti, she survived, but complained that he got his health back and she lost because she was on CD. If you're an assassin and you go all in and fail to kill, then you're meant to lose, if you can't poke him and finish him with burst, keep poking. He is designed to punish mistakes, so play better :)

Wheatloaf1 votes

And if he needs to use his ult to cover a mistake he made, he better not make any more while it's on cd.

khorney3 votes

Agreed he isn't op in my opinion

Akesgeroth2 votes

To be fair, I do see one issue with his stun, which is that the ghost is not visible enough to warn the other team. The point of his stun is that it needs a lot of set up, or should need it, but it's very easy for people to miss the ghost throwing the stun bomb.

Also, letting the enemy team engage on you is almost always terrible idea.

Boone3521 votes

You can watch his ghost and know the direction the stun is headed, but not the exact location. You can see the exact location a little before it happens. I'm bronze 3 and I think it is a pretty telegraphed stun.

Akesgeroth2 votes

So what you're saying is that you did not read my post.

Zoukeeper2 votes

While the delay on his W is high it is actually really hard to tell where it is until it is too late. You only get to see where he put it for the last .5 seconds.

Tis a nice day1 votes

And he'll also have to be inside that bubble for the stun to land.

Earthlord Jazz1 votes

I think the biggest problem people have with Ekko is that you have to keep track of so much in order to nullify Ekko's strengths. In a teamfight, it's really hard for me to tell what's going on, but now I need to focus not only on where Ekko was 4 esconds ago with his trail but his delayed W. I don't mind if the Ekko player himself has to keep track of these things, but it makes him a much more annoying character when if I make one small mistep, he shits all over me...

I feel like that's why people are complaining about Ekko. I feel like after 3 months of playing against him, people will see his play patterns and predict his plays. In the meantime, he's a bitch to go up against.

SpongebobIsLife1 votes

but these misplays apply to every assassin in the game though. Assassins are supposed to make the most out of your mistakes.

Orangesilk1 votes

Those abilities are balanced around murdering mobile squishies in a short lane like midlane, of course you can simply not engage there, and dodge the ult and whatnot.

Now think for a second about the dynamics of toplane, as a melee guy, Ekko pokes your face for a while. This is okay, most champions who can do this are weak to the all-in, but not Ekko. If you try to all-in Ekko he will pop the stun under his feet, so if the trade lasts for more than 2 seconds you are VERY likely to lose that trade with the huge shield and the huge stun. If the trade lasts the full 6 seconds, you are now guaranteed to DIE for trying to pushing the champion who has been poking you the whole lane.

When a poke champion has better scaling and better trading than most melees, you've got yourself a toplane problem.

Except viable top lane champions all have sustain, Ekko has none, and you're retarded and should downgrade to Tetris if you can't move away during the 3 second telegraphed stun.

But either way, trades don't last 3 seconds.

sure he has more damage.... sure he has more mobility... sure he has more utility....

but that mfer aint broken! you heard it here first

It only does heavy damage if you're fool enough to group up near his ghost.

You know when he entered in his W, it demolishes and applies stun.

It's really not hard to land if you know what you're doing. Just wait until people get good at Ekko.
