Can singed gain "Grounding" with his sticky goo

Singed hasnt been looked at in a very very long time and I think that this would be appropriate.

I'm all for this but he's far from in need of buffs at the moment.

Just wondering but what do people think about Singed? It's like no one ever talks about him, good or bad. Is his kit that fine?

morris14 votes

Yes, he's doing fine. High elo Singed players abuse item 1082 item 1082 item 1082 item 1082 (yes that's right 4 of them) and can snowball almost any lane.

Can someone explain the dark seal trick to me? I'm confused

Unlucky472 votes

You buy these and pots and the healing from dark seals stack. One pot will heal for twice as much as a regular pot. Plus you get the 15 bonus ap for each so its 60 ap and double healing on pots for a low price.

morris11 votes

Let's recap. With 4 Dark Seals:

  • 60 AP
  • 100% bonus healing from pots (Singed also rushes Corrupting Potion)
  • 400 Mana (which in turn gives 100 health)
  • AP on takedowns (doesn't stack)
  • Each seal only costs 350g, while it sells for 70% of its price (in comparison, Doran's items only sell for 40%, that's why you can't stack more than 2 or 3 of them on others.)

Singed is the main reason I never want to play top lane... or this game

TheHurricaneGamr1 votes

He's actually in a decent spot right now, possibly even on the strong side. The changes to item 3116 really benefited him. However, he's kinda boring to play (at least for me, I can't speak for the rest of the community), which means that he isn't played often. However, if you really feel like tilting the ever livingTeemo out of your top laner, by all means go for it.

Catastrop19 votes

How about no? It's one of the strongest slows in the game on one of the hardest to catch/escape champions in the game. No one is ever going to get away/catch him if he had grounded.

Buff him any other way than this.

Surfer Ashe1 votes

Seconded.

A powerful slow, a conditional snare and a fling is already strong enough in a combo, but given no choice vs an ulting/ghosting singed except to die is too far.

Singed is in a good spot right now too.

AninLegions7771 votes

If you literally stand and not try to run (except if his team is with him which is almost never), you can auto him to death.

He just runs around you lul. Or flings you, then what do you do? Stand there?

Singed is actually in a good place for the first time in over a year. Lets not jinx the fun we are having. +1 tho

Jinx you rang?

lets not buff champions that dont need it okay?

I think it's a good idea but only if they add a travel time to it. Grounding made cassiopeia's w one of the strongest team fight abilities in the game and for it to be an instant cast would be kind of broken.

SzGamer2271 votes

Good point and a good idea +1 to you good sir

Elite4Runner4 votes

sure, why not! upvoted

Hige4 votes

you'd have to lower the slow or remove it completely

it would be cool thematically though

Veraska3 votes

grounded probably shouldn't be added to a melee champion, most melee success checks is "be in melee range" so when you give a fighter a debuff that says "you can't use an escape" he gets his success check until ur dead

maybe not in singed's case as he's one of least melee oriented melee champions, but he doesn't need any buffs (although it'd be pretty thematic)

Irelia Bot3 votes

And what is getting removed or nerfed for adding this much power to singed who is doing rather well currently?

Papa Andrei3 votes

You cannot buy more than one Dark seal :) balanced

RavenMagus3 votes

Grounded is a pretty cool mechanic, but it would be way too powerful if you just added it in to Singed as is - with a slow as strong as that field is at the moment, you'd be turning it into a point-and-click immobilize zone. Singed doesn't need a buff that strong.

Sckullzz2 votes

I really like this idea. Only additional suggestion would be to fix his Poison Trail when he's in a bush. It's kinda bullshit how if he's in a bush, his trail just completely disappears.

Jerry SeinfeId2 votes

I'd love to see that as it would make singed alot stronger.

But...

He'd become incredibly oppressive. Right now Singed isn't considered good by most people because they don't give him a closer look. (talking silver elo here) People think he does 0 Damage because it's DoT and think he just doesn't bring anything else. If you give him a closer look, and adapt to his playstyle, you'll see he often does as much damage as a carry, is extremely tanky, and his Ult is the most overloaded ability in the game (imo). However combining everything in his kit you get a champ who right now is not OP and not garbage either.

So he doesn't need the buff, if singed gets ahead right now chances are that if the rest of the game goes even he'll be stompin. He becomes extremely oppressive when ahead. Giving him grounded will make him a lot stronger as a lot of characters who deal well with him are the ones that can kite and harass him (Kayle/Teemo for example). This will lead to people crying about Singed, especially because he does so much better in Solo/duo than 5v5 Teams. And the next thing riot will do is gut him. And if that happens i'll be sad.

So Singed can use it, he doesn't need it. I'd rather not take the risk of making him oppressive which will probably lead to nerfs to his q or ult more likely than just reverting the grounding.

on a side note: Riot actually does look out for singed. I only started playing during preseason 5 and since then there have been a few buffs. What i can immediatly remember:

He got MR on level. Which he really needed. Before that i miserably failed at playing him and had given up this buff made me play him again and realize i should just take the lost matches untill i learned him (i figured out my way of playing him is lane singed instead of proxy).

He got the % health dmg on his fling.

He got the laugh on his fling

some fixes and changes to his tickrate.

So while he isn't very prominent on lcs, patch notes he isn't forgotten and when looking at video's by Dyrus/QT there's quite a bit of high elo singed players. and he's not thrash tier (imo tier 1 (god tier in silver))

I love how you actually included the laugh in your list XD the strongest buff anyone has ever gotten in the history of lol

Honestly I felt dirty when it happened. It removed my agency to laugh and usually messed up my taunting rythm.

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

but this way you only need to use your mastery emote to taunt. you gotta work for the laugh.

He got the laugh on his fling

Only part that matters lol

Also didn't he get the snare if he flings someone onto his W? Or was that always there?

Jerry SeinfeId1 votes

as far as i know he always had it. I do know there were some bugfixes for it.

arc952 votes

If it is replaces the slow

Liofa2 votes

sure in exchange his poison does 75% dmg to creeps

Mordepool2 votes

Nerf the slow add the grounded.

My Waifu Vanilla2 votes

My problem with this is that Singed really wouldn't inherently benefit from having grounded on his W. Cassiopeia is able to get a lot more damage output out by keeping someone in the Miasma due to them being slowed while she can spam E for "free" on them. Singed on the other hand wouldn't get anything out of it since he only has to refresh his poison every 2 (?) seconds and turning off flashes and stuff doesn't mean anything when Singed can follow flashes extremely easily to begin with due to him having the movement speed of Sonic the god damn hedgehog.

SzGamer2271 votes

Shloop them on the goo and keep them from dashing out of the gas or back to you

My Waifu Vanilla1 votes

Shlooping them on the goo already roots them though.

AtheosisX1 votes

The benefit would be predominantly about setting up kills for teammates.

Leu072 votes

I thought the grounded mechanic was supposed to make Cassiopeia unique, if you give it to other champ, she is no longer unique.

HazyCloud71 votes

Why exactly is this being upvoted? Singed doesn't need any buffs. He's sitting at a 51% win rate overall top & near 63% for people with 125+ ranked games.

Singed has absolutely no problem getting away from & catching people, this post makes it sound like he's in a bad spot.

SzGamer2271 votes

'Cuz it's thematically appropriate. Nothing more, nothing less.

TheHurricaneGamr1 votes

Singed is in a pretty decent spot atm, perhaps on the strong side. Also, the last thing I want is for Singed to become meta. Would probably force me out of top lane for a good while.

Proxy Singed1 votes

no don't touch him

King of Demons1 votes

He can be pretty oppressive as is. Imagine you can't deal with him pushing, or he puts a Zzrot down and ... you catch my drift.

TeCoolMage1 votes

not unless anivia gets it too

AtheosisX1 votes

I like the idea, but Singed is actually pretty good right now.

That will legit break him :^)
