'Mordekaiser is fine, just rush QSS first item'

What the actual fuck is this?

I don't even have words; imagine being on the balance team, looking at this Morde starting the fight at half health, missing all but one skill shot, winning the 1v1, and then proceeding to also kill the Gragas who tried to follow up, and then thinking 'yep, very balanced, job well done!'

And for some reason, there are no changes to Morde in the upcoming patch?

Is there supposed to be something wrong with this?

I think atm he isn't busted as he is still titled by everyone. His r is counterable by timing and even if you are inside of it sidestepping or using cc/flexibility spells help you to survive. He still has a decent and deserved ban rate tho, but his win rates are constantly falling atm. JarvanIV

? ? ?

Did you even watch the video before posting this bullshit?

This is what juggernauts do. I've seen Illaoi with a small sliver of health beat a FULL HEALTH AND ACTIVE SHIELD old Mordekaiser in two slaps of her ult. That should be nerfed before new Morde is.

This is what juggernauts do.

Even if he is a juggernaut, he was at almost half health when the fight began and he missed absolutely everything besides 1 single Q. Several missed Qs, missed his E, even missed his protobelt.

If he is still winning this fight, that's just weird. It shouldn't work like that. The Illaoi you played against at least hit her stuff.

A.) I didn't play that game and it's still unfair. B.) Morde proced his passive and the Zed player was in it for a LONG time so it makes sense Morde won the trade. Maybe his passive is broken go ahead and make that argument but you can't say he "missed" everything. He did exactly what Illaoi does just stand there and let an ability do all the work.

I watched the video again.

5 seconds, that's the amount of time he got hit by the passive. If 5 seconds just existing close to Mordekaiser makes you automatically lose, even if he misses all his other abilities in that fight while having a pretty hefty health disadvantage, yeah, something is wrong.

Leon41672 votes

Okay just to see if I can convince you that 1v1 was not AS broken as most believe I'm going to explain what you guys most likely already know.

During the 1v1 Zed is hitting all of his abilities and is seemingly has the advantage. However there are two mistakes that he makes in this fight. First mistake is that despite Morde missing his abilities he doesn't need to aim his autos and so as such you really shouldn't be getting close to Morde unless you're going for a kill and Morde was not even close enough to be killed when he got close the first time he got close at which Morde used his shield to block half the dmg AND landed an auto giving him one stack. Zed continues to stay within Morde's auto range as Morde is activating his ultimate. Once his ult is dropped Morde now has increased health, armor, mr, and most importantly ATTACK DAMAGE which Zed must build and thus Morde's autos now have been empowered which he immediately lands a second one just after using his q and canceling his Q's animation to get that auto giving him his second passive stack and is now doing slightly more dmg with his auto. Finally Morde walks up to Zed and to force Zed to not attack him and dodge another attack Morde uses his E and right after using it lands a third auto which has now procced his passive.

This is where Zed has now made a second mistake. Because the passive can deal massive amount of dmg within a few seconds he needs to get out immediately and avoid fighting Morde altogether now. Zed HAS NO DEFENSES against magic damage and as such is nearly destroyed in a matter of seconds merely because he stayed in and tried to trade with his autos and has no other abilities to use now and since the very MOMENT Morde procced his passive Zed has been in it for a total of nearly SIX SECONDS. In this game six seconds is FOREVER. Morde is a juggernaut and as such has decent defensive stats but Zed still dealt a good amount as an assassin should but Morde isn't squishy but any means and is able to not only take him on at half health but can beat him in a trade if because he has both dmg AND defense and can take more than Zed can even when it comes to health Morde most likely had about equal if just a few hundred behind Zed at full health so if anything they were equal at the start of the fight. Ultimately what clenched this fight was Morde's W eating all the dmg at the time the shurikens hit him and so giving him time to get his auto attacks in and proccing his passive.

It may not be "fair" but honestly Morde didn't "miss" his skillshots other than his protobelt. They were all dodged but Zed's "fair three shadow jumping ability" My opinion? Completely fair. Like I said before six second in this game is a long time and Zed was in Morde's passive that entire time. Taken into account that Morde is a juggernaut and so has higher defensive scaling stats than Zed not to mention his builds are mostly AP/Health items such as Liandry's and Rylai's and if I was the Morde I would've gone Hourglass first and that gives him armor. Seeing as both players are lvls 12 and 11 (lvling in Morde's favor btw now that I look) we can assume he has at least one item done and a couple smaller ones in the making and since I'm not seeing Zed getting slowed during the fight it is most likely is Liandry's Torment which does increasing amounts of magic dmg equal to missing % of health which only made the passive even stronger. Do with that what you will.

EDIT: Damn I spent a good hour on slowly watching the video and breaking down the fight and someone else just points out the passive dmg and says it's broken...why do I try?

Oh no, an assassin failed to kill a bruiser running exhaust! Must be OP!

He's fucking disgusting and I hate his rework. It's always going to be disgustingly overpowered.

doodlebob6661 votes

need to either nerf the shield or his base stats, he shouldnt have the bonus durability of old morde and the base stats of a juggernaut, only way he can be balanced around those current values is if his lane phase becomes abusable as all hell, I don't think its fair to blame the balance team yet they hotfixed him already and he'll probably get a nerf in the upcoming patch

Chembaron Yamada1 votes

I am permabanning him since they released him, as long as my team doesn't intend to first pick. And I will keep doing so at least until they gave him another hard nerf.

I don't know what they were thinking with his rework.... His passive gives him movementspeed to be less kitable, while dealing % max health damage during the whole fight? You get shredded simply for existing near him? And that Q.... good AoE damage for teamfight and waveclear, but if he finds himself in a 1v1 situation he also gets bonus damage just to make sure he dominates in both, duels and teamfights. He even gets free stats with his E (magic pen).

Oh, and of course his W gives him both, shield and a heal if he desires. So he can instantly shield himself without it getting reduced by GW during a fight. But he also can use it for sustain outside of fights. And to top it all off, he is absolutely ressourceless. Even doesn't have health costs anymore.

So, what is the actual weakness of his kit? Yeah, he is kitable, I guess. But he can greatly itemise against this weakness with protobelt and rylais.

Besides that, not really much. He gets great AoE and single target damage. He gets good fighting defense with a shield and sustain with heal. He gets AoE hard CC.

Hell, unlike other lane bullies, you can't even gank him that effectively. Since he can turn a 2v1 in a 1v1 again with his ult and use the time to walk towards his tower if he isn't confident that he can kill both enemies one after another.

His kit excels at too much stuff.

but he pressed R, morde wins when he presses R.

Yenn1 votes

ITT: Hard stuck Morde players try to justify a champion whose kit is half compromised of skill shots winning a fight without landing them, and then blaming it on not being able to kite him 100% of the time in his ult, while dodging every skill shot and somehow avoiding him ever making contact while he's running at 410+ MS

Because a sign of good champion design is having 50% of your kit be completely optional!

This is even better when you realize that his Q is actually unavoidable at close range unless you're using mobility to dodge it. It's 400 width in 0.5 seconds. Champions reacting instantly need over 400 MS to be able to sidestep it, more upwards of 550 MS when you factor in reaction time.
