A reminder to the boards that suggestions of buffs or nerfs are pointless

Because Riot never even read them:

Zenon, is it possible to know why sometimes you(or the balancing/champUp? team) don't take suggestions in the boards/reddit about ways to change the abilities of the champion? with this i mean ie: if you haven't read it, the "17 color coded pages about shaco rework" left me hoping it was legit! sbbetS

I'll answer this a little more broadly:

Player feedback is great for us when it comes to what works or what doesn't work. What frustrates you, how does a certain spell make you feel, etc. When it comes to suggestions for what should be done, in 99% of cases we don't really look at them. Sorry if this comes across as mean, but we have designers with years and years of experience who'll still come up with the wrong solutions half the time. Our design process is highly iterative. Identify a problem, form a hypothesis, attempt to prove or disprove the hypothesis through playtesting, adjust your solution, rinse and repeat. A single "solution" presented in a vacuum does us no good at all.

our designers are bad at their jobs, which is why we listen to them

Damn, that's some good reasoning.

Even our designers don't get it right first time, but after hours of testing and refining typically get it right in the end. Perhaps work on your reading comprehension skills.

Keep in mind that he said it was a broad answer; not definitive or specific to anything. There are times where player suggested gameplay changes have been considered, tested, or even implemented.

Let's be real Riot doesn't listen to balancing tips at all aside from a few very, very rare cases.

Riot is nearly a decade old company and League of Legends therefore is nearly a decade old, League's balance team still has many of it's original members who were there from the start and they still struggle so much with keeping the game balanced to the point where it feels like a joke.

Considering that the majority of the boards buff suggestions are "make X the best champion in the game" and their nerf suggestions are "make X completely unviable", I wouldn't listen to them either. And I don't mean their suggestions are simply QQ, I mean that they propose things that would make champions brokenly OP or completely unplayable. If I had a nickel for every "Make Yasuo's abilities cost flow" thread...

To be fair though, screw Yasuo's design in general.

So they make mistakes, and then don't want help trying to find out what was wrong, because they want to be the ones to solve them?

The PBE community is also useless. It is basically de-bug simulator for testing skins and new champions/reworks, not for testing balance. Balance is not at all in the communities choice or even a fraction of a choice. That is why Lee is allowed to dominate the meta with Thresh and the reason why Lulu and Janna can't have their own lanes.

Oh thank god. Can this be stickied so gameplay can start to lose some of these make X unplayable threads? Would help the discussion to actually exist for once.
