Stop giving every new champ a projectile with a slow for their Q

Omiwom··101 votes·13,478 views

If you go down the latest champ releases, you'll see that on the first page, 8 out of 10 of their Qs are a straight-flying projectile. Almost always with a slow. TahmKench - check Ekko - check Bard - check RekSai - check Kalista - check Sion - Not a projectile, but slows Azir - Soldiers don't always fly in a straight line and aren't a single projectile, but they slow. Gnar - f*cking check, even in his melee form Braum - check Velkoz - check

It's really boring and unoriginal. Change up the next champs' kits please.

Our infatuation with lines is matched only by our love affair with circles.

We overuse the line nuke missile, but there's a reason it's our dominant cast type: it tends toward good gameplay around minions/Braums, reads very clearly since it emanates from the caster directly and produces threat that fairly smoothly scales down with distance (creating somewhat linear reward for approaching your enemy, which is risky).

Well, that was a fairly good explanation. Thank you for the clarity CTMan o/

Are there any plans to use more curved skillshots like diana's q in the future?

All Day Tay Tay2 votes

thats part of her identity, a worshiper of the moon. its unique to her character. if you want to dodge it, move counter-clockwise

Dr Poro2 votes

I agree. I find linear skill shots way more fun to use and play against than circular (like nami bubble).

BuzzinTate7 votes

you should make velkoz Q split more than once, for added geometry

R2D203 votes

they could have it go a set distance, and you could re-activate it as many times as you like until it traveled that distance.

GEOMETRY!

Sion's Q is a charging AOE melee cone knock up with ramping damage. How is that uninteresting and repetitive?

Omiwom17 votes

It's very interesting. He's not one of the 8

Sion is actually a rework and not really a new realease. Otherwise Skarner Darius Mordekaiser Garen MissFortune Gangplank should also be included on the list

Sion is a new release.

No he had a major rework but still a rework. Go into youtube and write Old Sion, You will see how he used to look like

No that's a complete champion update. They took the old piece of crap and reworked into current Sion Via kit, gameplay, counterplay a,clear role, voice, visual theme and lore, gave him an identity. It's that's not a champion update then you are brain dmged

RogueWill1 votes

So did for Ashe yet you don't see her on the list either. Sion is a rework, major as it is, still is a rework. His new kit was limited by the feel of how old sion is supposed to be. This undead tough guy that refuses to die.

Divewing7 votes

I disagree, Sion was totally remade, while he isn't technically new per se, calling him a rework is a bit of an understatement. Ashe on the other hand >_>

RogueWill1 votes

Half of her kit was modified. She got new visual model and new voice. Gangplank the same. Half kit was modified, new visual model and new voice + event. Yet those 2 are rework while sion is remade? xD

The idea of sion wasn't new and although his hit is completely new, he retained most of his lore and mostly got expanded

Divewing2 votes

Sion got all of his abilities and passive changed, Ashe kept 3, 1 changed slightly, and her Q essentially moved to her passive. Her model and voice stayed the same. GP kept 2 abilities. Other than that he was a pretty solid rework.

Basically on the levels of rework you've got Ashe being lowest at barely a rework at all, Tristana somewhere in the middle with a new identity but little gameplay change, and GP at the end with a big kit/model/voice change. Then there's Sion who's rework was so big it'd suit it more to be called a re-make

RogueWill2 votes

Sion kept his shield but yeah most of his kit was gone.

Actually new voice was added to ashe, her quotes were basically doubled if not tripled on movement and attacking, I'm not sure weather the voice actress was the same or they used a similar one, so although she might sound teh same she actually got revoiced. New taunts for Sejuani and Lissandra, one new general joke and one general new taunt. Her model was also cleared up but unless you played the old Ahse a lot you barely will see the difference, she moves far smoother now thou. On skils Q and passive are new although some ideas were scrapped from her previous one and jambled. W and E changed slighly with the inclusion of ammo and w extra arrows on volley and teh ability to intecept more than one arrow (before were only 7 arrows and you could only be hit by a single arrrow). While her ult remained the same. Ashe got a pretty big rework the only thing she was missing was a new splashart...

Divewing3 votes

I've met some pedantic people in my lifetime but you take the cake....

I give up, you're too bigoted to debate with

OyddAWqJ5r9 votes

You misunderstand. Sion is literally not old Sion anymore. The two aren't remotely similar. You can show someone their models and kits and any person can tell you they are not even close to alike.

Whereas you take updated Ashe and put her next to old Ashe and it's still the same Ashe just without a machine gun Q.

And GP is GP just with barrels now.

The point is updates maintain the core identifying thematic assets of the champion in question, whereas remakes like Sion completely rewrite a champion, retaining nearly nothing of the previous iteration. There isn't a hint of any of old Sion's thematically identifying aspects in the new Sion.

Apparently you cant read he said. "Almost always with a slow."

He could had just put the 8. I don't really remember Rek'Sai having a slow but then again, I don't also play her that often. And Kalista's is purely on her E...

Now, these champs also have Q slows: Anivia Chogath DrMundo Galio Gragas Karma Kayle Lulu Malphite Maokai Olaf Rammus Shaco Soraka and Zac are the ones that come to mind.

Shaco doesn't have a slow on his Q. Shaco's E (The shiv) is what slows. Shaco's Q is his stealthaport.

Edit: Embarrassing mistake fixed.

I don't know, getting impaled with a spear would probably make you walk slower, but you know #LeagueLogic

The Ecdysiast2 votes

So would things like: being on fire, having a flaming bear dropped on you, getting hit with missiles, getting shot with a sniper, getting punched so hard your armor breaks, and dying.

Orangesilk3 votes

Tibbers isn't dropped on you, it -appears- next to you, if her passive triggers is because you were surprised at the fucking bear appearing next to you.

0/10, try again gr8 b8 m8 i r8 8/8

Tahm Kench's applies his passive, can whiplash monsters into his mouth from afar, and can also stun.

Ekko's applies his passive and returns to him, and it's an interesting slowing field that allows you to gapclose and reposition the return flight.

Bard's can stun 2 people and stun them against a wall, which is pretty cool.

Rek'Sai's doesn't slow, and is used to scout camps and enemies due to her lack of vision.

Kalista's applies her passive, and is used to poke, and can carry all of her Rend stacks to another enemy if it kills that enemy.

SIon's is an AOE stun which is one of the more interesting abilities in the game since you have to set it up.

Azir is repositioning soldiers for more auto attacks.

Gnar has a cool mechanic on it where if he catches it, he can use it again sooner.

Braum's applies his really cool and original passive to stun an opponent.

Vel'Koz splits his skillshot at a 90 degree angle.

Silents4295 votes

Q is normally the projectile ability even with earlier champions. I am glad they follow this because it confuses the hell out of me to play champions without having Q as a projectile, and having it as a W or E.

As well as Q being easier to press for reactive moments with skillshots.

Ikrit1222 votes

Also. All of those champs have a knock-up/back, except for Bard and Tahm, though those have their own unique hard cc, all of which immune to Tenacity. There are only a handful of champs in the game with absolutely no cc (Corki, Kat, Ez, Sivir, Nid, and maybe some others). They should make some more cc-less champs.

Ekko has no displacement!

CreationFlaw1 votes

I mean, he has a 2.25 second stun.

TotalJerk5 votes

And I honestly don't understand why the fuck he needs that AND a shield at the same time. Is it to absorb the damage his victim can't do?

RisenDarkKnight1 votes

Rek'sai actually doesn't have a slow as far as I know. Her burrowed q is pretty vanilla line skillshot though.

TheShinx1 votes

it slows but it's not in the tool tip. Not sure for the time or amount but there is a slow for under a second when it hits.

It does not slow at all.

Prey Seeker RANGE: 1650 COOLDOWN: 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 BURROWED - ACTIVE: Rek'Sai fires a void-charged pulse in a line which detonates on the first enemy struck, dealing magic damage to all enemies in the area and Sight icon revealing them for 2.5 seconds. MAGIC DAMAGE: 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 / 180 (+ 70% AP)

DorkunedAuras2 votes

I main Rek'Sai, there is no slow. You claim it's not in the tooltip, let's see some proof. Rek'Sai has one CC, and that's her knockup, NOTHING ELSE.

TheShinx1 votes

Then explain why (since it doesn't proc on hit effects) what slowed me when she used it and NO OTHER Champ was around? Seems odd.

DorkunedAuras6 votes

either you're hallucinating, confused, or rek has a rylai's. There is no slow attached. Maybe you had moby boots, and any damage breaks those, whether or not it has a slow attached.
