ZYRA NEW PASSIVE AND E IDEA?

I feel that Zyra should receive a new passive since her existing one is not very useful. The current passive can be easily dodged and it really doesn't do a lot of damage. I have been reading the boards and noticed people mentioning doing something like Aniva. Like where she can revive after a certain amount of time. While that can technically work on Zyra what is the point in playing the champion if she doesn't have a unique passive that sets her apart? Frankly I would rather have something that is unique to Zyra and is useful to her. Just giving her a passive like Aniva's is essentially just playing Aniva. Give Zyra something unique to her and is fun to play, but also something she can benefit from.

Idea for passive: Keep the existing passive but also have it where Zyra summons two seedilings fully grown that can kill enemies with her while she is down. The seedlings can do more damage like Zyra does. IDK just an idea.

Another thing I feel that Zyra suffers from is her ability to escape damage. It is true E can be used to getaway and stun players in place but that can be easily dodged. What about allowing her E to dash her away from damage if she uses it on an existing seedling? Example:

Zyra places a seedling and uses Q to grow it. If she uses E on a fully grown seedling she can link herself to it and teleport to it's location. In the process of doing this the seedling is destroyed. IDK this is just an idea. :D I want to see something done to her so she can be a viable mid and people start playing her more.

I actually like the idea of an Anivia-ish passive. I had an idea a while ago for one.

Passive : Sown Seeds Whenever Zyra kills, or assists in killing, an enemy champion she plants a seed in their body for 5,7,9 seconds (upgrading at levels 11 and 16). If Zyra dies while there is a seed planted in an enemy corpse she will revive at 75% hp and mana, at the location of the corpse, after a 3 second delay.

As always numbers could be tweaked but that's my idea.

Zyra's damage is absolutely massive, the only problem is that it's very tricky to land a full combo. But if you do, multiple people will die. Her massive, massive AoE damage is the reason her passive is so shit. That aside, giving her a blink is a bad idea and just adds to the mobility creep that's already been shitting up the game for the past 2-3 seasons.

It's not the abilities that do damage, It's her plants that do an insane amount of damage. I think Zyra's Q, her main damage ability, has less damage than most Supports main form of damage ability-wise. Soraka can potentially have a lot more damage on her Q if she hits it in the center than Zyra can with her Q.

When you look at it that way yeah, but I tend to build Liandry's and Rylai's. Her Q becomes a long range Brand/Frozen Gauntlet passive that also has the potential to spawn a very dangerous plant or two. But as you said her spell damages are weak, because the plants are her main damage source. That's kinda her niche, using the plants to slap the magic out of some bitchass midlaner that thinks they can lane against her after Liandry's.

Not convinced, unless you die it's still bellow the likes of Lux and Orianna who fill similar niches.

100% agree, utility mages should never be given dashes, it's a bad idea (Azir)

Actually Zyra tends to outdamage Lux, on average anyway. Plant damage really adds up, especially with Liandry's thrown in. She only loses to Ori because Ori's Q is so spammable.

I think Zyra should lose her current passive. It's not a good idea for a squishy champ to have to die to access part of their kit, Karthus exempt because he's literally built around dying.

Personally I think moving her W to her passive as something like

When Zyra hits an enemy with a spell she spawns a seed at their location, this effect can only occur once per spell and has a 8 second internal CD against minions and monsters.

Other than that the seeds would work the same, maybe with a small increase to invulnerability time since they can now only be placed underfoot.

Which frees up her W for a new spell, I'd go with something like

Zyra lashes forward with her wrist vine (seriously she never uses those things) dealing a small amount of magic damage and crippling them for a short duration. If this spell hits a seed it spawns a wall of thorns which deals persistent damage to units on it.

And numbers, which are always way off because no way of testing

W spell Range: 500 Damage: 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 + 40% AP Mana Cost: 50 Cripple Duration: 1.6/1.7/1.8/1.9/2

W Plant Damage identical to Q and E plants (advantage of AOE over range and CC), ticks 1 time per second, 2 times when ulted. (plants attack 0.8 times per sec, slightly higher DPS for it's 0 range) Takes damage priority over Q and E plants and reduces their damage as normal. Has 6 HP as with all plants.

Basically gives her better peel strengthening the 'peel mage' archetype that Riot talked about liking for Zyra recently. Keeps support Zyra viable while encouraging mid Zyra as a counterpick to guys like Yas and Zed. And introduces a type of CC that League needs given the current state of powercreep.

I'm also not sure where this would fall in terms of power, it's probably broke as fuck, but I think it would be a far better place to start balancing Zyra from.

I like a lot of these ideas. I knew you guys would come up with better ideas than me. I don't see anything really wrong with her besides Zyra's passive. Like most of you said, rushign Ryali Staff kind of helps her with getting away. I do think Zyra needs a new passive though.
