Does anyone use Stormraider's Surge?

Because seriously, I haven't seen this mastery for ages, and I don't use it myself. I've tested it and came to the conclusion that it is not a bad mastery, but there is absolutely no reason to use it over other masteries, especially Thunderlord's Decree.

The biggest problem with Stormraider's Surge is: Why would you pick this when other masteries give you more damage? Thunderlord's Decree, for example, can ensure that no squishy champion can survive your combo.

The other problem with Stormraider's Surge is that it is very conditional. Only burst heavy champions like Annie or Talon can really make use of it. Even them prefer Thunderlord's Decree, because again, more damage is almost always better.

And finally, if you want more movement speed, you can just itemize for it. item 3009 item 3742 item 3285 item 3147 item 3087 item 3085

If Stormraider's Surge is not picked even in a meta where everyone is getting tons of movement speed, then there is something wrong with this mastery.

I actually see some Nasus players run it to help with Nasus's issue of getting kited. Other high burst champions can utilize it well to get in, drop their burst damage and get out safely....Zilean is a good one for that

It's my preferred mastery on AP Cho'gath.

A big problem has always been getting ontop of people to bite them past the lane phase, with Stormriders a Q+W combo on anything will get you the boost, and just a W on most squishy targets will get it as well. Letting you rush in, bite what you want, and then walk away.

It's also good on him for not dying. Cho lacks much in the way of escapes, but during the lane phase catching someone in a Q+W combo is often enough to proc it and let you blitz away from a gank.

Talon is an example where I will see it from time to time. Although it's pretty rare.

And that's exactly the problem. Talon can use it, but why would him use it over Thunderlord's Decree?

its pretty awesome on him considering he has to rely on r to escape.

Its alright, you just need to look at the comp they are running. If they have a lot of slows and I'm playing someone who is capable of proccing SS, I will definitely run the mastery, since that slow resistance and movement speed is enough to get you out of almost any situation if the other team lacks hard cc.

all popular masteries gives free dmg(tld, fob, dft, gou) stormraider might be useful in some situation but most of the time heavy burst champions are "kill or die" kinda champ, like talon if he cant kill the target he will die and if he kills the target he dont really need to run.

I use it on burst mages and Nasus, but that's about it.

I think high leveled played can make use of Stormraiders better than Thunderlords. They know who they can kill and who they can't, Thunderlord's probably wont make much of a difference in this scenario. Stormraiders allow you to reposition yourself after a kill, so I'd say on champions like Talon and maybe Kha and Reng, it would be more useful?

I like it on Pantheon, A lot. Hit anyone with your ult damage and it's and instant proc for chasing people.

I use it on Akali.

I use it on Mord. Helps a lot.

But I also run 3 MS quints, rush distortion boots, have ghost AND flash, and MS items.

With all that mobility I use the slowest champ ever to kite even Quinn huehue
