Is Playing Ranked Worth It? (Not a Rant)

I'm not going to start this off with "I am a god and should be diamond but I'm bronze" because I'm not. I'm pretty decent with this game and like playing it overall. I like getting better as I win/lose games. However from what I've heard you get a lower tier than you were before every time you start a new season after you complete the provisionals. It kinda makes me sad because I have to use up a lot of time and energy and dedication just to get back to my previous tier, which is bronze 2. I don't know if the whole "you get a lower tier/division every next season" is true( I hope not). I've heard a lot of complaints about this on the boards so I'm guessing it is true, but usually these threads get down voted hella so it gives me hope. My only goal in ranked is to reach silver 5 and get the sexy boarder. I'm just wondering if ranked is worth playing and if the boarder is worth my time and effort.

Most of those threads are downvoted because it's happening to everyone. Not that it isn't true, it's just not worthy of a rant when every player gets the same thing. Chances are you'l climb fast if you get placed lower anyways, so it's entirely up to you if it's worth it or not.

The short story is: you are definitely going to end up lower than where you were before. Same story for everyone. So if you worked your butt off for bronze 2, then Riot's reason for the low division after placements is that you will be able to climb back up if you truly belong in that tier and division.
