Locked v Unlocked Camera

The majority of players fall under one of two categories when it comes to their camera layout. One being locked camera, always keyed to the same position as your champion. One being unlocked, where you move the camera with your mouse to sit stationary in places independent of the location of your champion.

So which in your opinion is better?

Yeah, I play locked but I unlock it often during the game. Just can't play the whole game unlocked, but it is useful for a lot of things.

I play the same way lol. I find unlocked in teamfights hurts me (probably because I have an affinity to champs with dashes) but if I walk into a lane to gank locked I'm essentially blind.

I used to play with locked for 3 years until I switched a year and a half ago. When you get used to unlock, youll die to ganks a lot less. So yes I would say that unlock is better when you get you used to clicking the space bar with your thumb while still having full control of your champion. Its better to look at the map, where your teammates are, to see if your carries need peel instead of tunnel vision, better for global spells, better for landing poke etc.

Actually, most people run a hybrid of the 2. Using space to lock/unlock the camera. Locked when they are mindlessly running around and unlocked during farming/fights.

There's no comparison, unlocked gives you full view of the entire area around your champion and actually allows you to play on purple side.

The only problem is that it takes a lot of effort to get used to.

Using an unlocked camera helps you with map awareness and ganks ;)

Unlocked is objectively harder, and objectively better.

But plenty of players oscillate. I like to toggle lock and unlock often instead of just centering the camera, but I play largely unlocked, especially in laning phase.

I run locked most of the time unless I'm laning from purple side.

The moment I go unlocked outside laning, I will walk into the worst places. As a squishy.

You'll usually find me switching pretty often between the two, it really just depends where I am.
