Ashe Rework Idea?

First and foremost, she needs a new passive... It's just... bad.

Focus: Ashe has increased crit chance (or armor pen?) based on distance. The further away they are, the better her bonus, up to a max. Like 30% crit chance at max range.

  • She should have a passive that rewards her for being at maximum range. Positioning is key for good Ashe players, so reward them for doing it right.

Q: Enchanted Arrow/Frost Shot

Toggle: Frost shot toggle works exactly as it does, sapping mana and causing slow. Enchanted Arrow toggle cost no mana and adds magic damage to her basic attacks equal to say 21/22/23/24/25% of Ashe's total AD.

  • This would give her some much needed damage. Lets face it, she doesn't have much. Would also make Q a viable max first skill.

W: Volley

This only needs a SMALL increase in damage honestly. Something like: 40/65/90/115/140(+100%AD)

Slightly bigger threat, I mean, she is the adc right?

E: Leave as is, or you could change the passive to something else, like attack speed or something. But prolly needs a smaller cooldown. 20 seconds at all ranks?

R: Lower Damage of this guy overall: 300/400/500(+100%AP) Splash Damage: 150/200/250(+50%AP) -- Make the stun max out at 3 seconds flat.

Overall, these changes are minimal, and the only real big changes happen at passive and Q. It keeps her true to her frost archer, no escapes, kite you for days feel, but the small bumps would allow her to compete with newer adc's.

Thoughts?

Stuff I like:

  • Having Ashe being more effective at long ranges. It's thematically appropriate, and would fit very well with her kite-heavy playstyle.
  • Giving her more gameplay by changing her more boring passives (her E passive just makes her laning phase even more farm-heavy, when it should be rewarding her for interacting with her opponents).

Stuff I don't like:

  • Buffing her overall damage. Ashe has the lowest damage out of any marksman in the game, and that's fine because she also has more crowd control and utility than any other champion, including mages and supports. I'd rather focus on bringing out what makes her unique (i.e. her CC and utility) and keep her damage low, than just give her a set of steroids to make her more popular.
  • Keeping her perma-slow. It's a massive source of power that is iconic to Ashe, but one that is also extremely unhealthy, and why she can't be made more viable (it's the ability that almost singlehandedly caused mobility creep in League). She needs a completely different Q, which would also give her the opportunity to concentrate her crowd control into something more immediately impactful (a root, for example).

Overall, this isn't really the direction I'd take Ashe, but I like that you want to focus on her kite marksman playstyle and give her more opportunities to feel powerful besides ulting and spamming W. I'd say she should have the largest and most powerful set of tools for keeping enemies at bay and kiting them, but should still have low overall damage, and should give her opponents more opportunities to reach her if she misses her abilities or gets outplayed, something that's not really possible when you can have an on-demand point-and-click permanent slow.

I think removing her perma slow on Q would be dangerous. Especially if you keep her damage low. This league has a lot of mobility in it. Ashe's perma slow is only fair in my opinion because it costs mana AND its on a champ that has no other form of escape. In a league with so much gap closing and mobility, slows are not super powerful. (They certainly are powerful, but just not THAT powerful). It would be interesting to try something else out. Like:

Frozen Arrow: Active: Ashe's next auto attack deals bonus magic damage and roots the target in place for x seconds.

Something I slightly disagree with you on: Ashe's damage in my opinion is TOO low for a marksman. Keeping it at its current power level and adding more utility pushes her toward just being a poor support. Her DPS needs to go up just a little bit. Either in small damage buffs, or in some decent attack speed buffs. Attack speed is scary due to her ability to slow. It doesn't need to be huge, but her damage needs to be slightly more threatening in my opinion.

Something I do agree with you on: Ashe needs to have her role/strengths/weaknesses emphasized a bit more so she can be more interactive with her opponents. Time to be more than just an ulti- slow bot.

Either way, thanks for the reply! :)
