the bolded is the td'lr

don't take me for a veigar expert (i have played him from time to time) or anything

when i saw how they made heard from other how to they planned on nerfing him i believed it at face value, but then checking to patch notes i saw the error of my ways since those guys weren't telling us about the compensatory buffs. so i'll try my best to break down my reasoning but ofc this is all just in theory

Q - Baleful Strike NEWSKILLFUL STRIKE: Baleful Strike is now a skillshot that passes through the first target hit and stops on the second target hit RANGE: 650 ⇒ 850 COOLDOWN8/7/6/5/4 seconds ⇒ 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds

yeah, baleful strike is now a skill shot, but its range has increased by 200. additionally the skillshot passes through the target and hits the next target (kind of like Lux ), from what i can tell it doesn't seem to have any diminishing effects, with a little bit of ap you can be stacking passive twice as fast which sounds amazing, cd is even reduced at earlier ranks as well. the trade off being no more point and click harrase, but if your moderate with skill shots then i don't see this is a problem, you'll also have amazing harrase in team fights because that short range veigar had on his q is gone so he can run in q, run out, rinse wash, repeat while remaining somewhat safe.

W - Dark Matter COST70/80/90/100/110 mana ⇒ 70/75/80/85/90 mana COOLDOWN: 10 seconds ⇒ 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 seconds

lower cd and lower mana, pretty self exclamatory for a straight up buff.

E - Event Horizon NEWEVENT PLANNING: Appears instantly ⇒ Now has a 0.75 second delay before appearing COST: 80/90/100/110/120 mana ⇒ 80/85/90/95/100 mana COOLDOWN: 20/19/18/17/16 seconds ⇒ 18/17/16/15/14 seconds RANGE: 650 ⇒ 700

at first when i heard the it had delay i was like ew, but then looking at it, it hardly seems like a problem since its only .75 and thats still kind of meh but i think the compensatory buff to its range, mana and cd make up for it.

R - Primordial Burst RATIO: 1.2 ability power ⇒ 1.0 ability power COST: 125/175/225 mana ⇒ 125 mana at all ranks COOLDOWN: 130/110/90 seconds ⇒ 120/100/80 seconds

this is certainly going to hurt veigar bursting potential, i can say that with even with the large mana reduction and small cd reduction that this is a straight up nerf.

overall i think this will improve veigar significantly, and as someone who plays him from time to time and own his ult skin, i support this change to veigar and i encourage others to post their criticism about veigar as well

The W buff is cute. What does it matter that it is 20 mana cheaper at max level? What does it matter if you can cast it 2 seconds faster? It was indirectly nerfed harder than it was directly buffed because it falls so slow you need the target to be stunned in order for it to land.

The E change is a nerf. Look at it this way, you can cast it 50 units further than you could before, in exchange for it taking 0.75 seconds to activate. The slowest move speed in the game is what, 325? So the slowest champions in the game can travel 245 units in the time it takes for you to get it to activate. Because of the activation time, the range was effectively reduced by 200 units because of how close to you you have to place it for it to stun someone walking at you. This is ommiting any usefullness against champs with instant blinks.

I'm willing to accept the R changes as being balanced around his bonus AP from Q.

The end result of this is that Veigar's Q is his only redeaming grace. The Q buffs literally have to be strong enough to compensate for the reduced reliability of the Q, the reduced damage of the R, the reduced effectiveness of the E, and the inability for the W to connect with a target not involved in a team fight.

If they reduced the fall time of W I could see things being OK. If the E didn't have as long of a setup time, I could see things being OK. As is, I expect a dramatic win rate fall for Veigar in 5.4.

honestly i think the q buff will be strong enough to cover it. when i see his q in lane yeah its unreliable but i think it will be much more stronger when a team fight breaks out and hes able to hit two targets and not one, also stacking with his q now is going to be a breeze if your good at it, if you get high stacks and a short time normally, imagine that as nearly double.

It was over all a nerf, wait till tomorrow. try landing E. It will happen maybe 1/5 the time if your opponent is retarded. AND if you cant land E you will NOT land W. so bye bye vieg. :(

And lowering the CD, reducing the cost of a spell, and increasing its range that is never going to land does not make up for it LOL

has a less .75 second cast time, and a 100 range increase, less mana cost and cd. its certainly going to be harder to land but i don't think of it as a big deal considering the old e could cc a entire team before they could even react.

and i know that, but cd helps you cast it more quickly, and your going to spam it move often lower mp cost, and range is going to increase the distance from where you use it will help you trap them easier, all you need to do is cast it a bit in front or behind the target and they'll walk right into it which is what i do originally. it doesn't say the cast time is visible either so it can be just as unpredictable as before. i just wish they would make the cursor for it better, that would be awesome.

it has a 50 range increase, and it NEVER lands. .75 seconds is enough time FOR ANY one to get the hell out of dodge. SPECIALLY with the mobility meta. You wait and try it.

actually it has a .25 second cast time I believe and a .75 delay, pretty much 1 second in total.

ah i see, i thought the delay was his cast time

As I said for your duplicate thread... .75 is a lot. Especially because it has a notification. It's basically impossible to land it on a skilled and aware player as a stun. Q's buff doesn't make up for this. W basically doesn't exist. Overall, his changes are a crushing nerf, not a buff at all.

I agree.

the fact that event horizon will never stun another champion is not compensated by it gaining all of those other things. the delay and warning particles literally make it easier to dodge than a solo queue game.
