anyone else feel like "first blood" towers will make the game even more snowbally

What it really does is decentivize lane swaps. Not gonna lie, I believe Riot did this specifically so Worlds would be less boring in the early game. Will not be surprised if it changes in pre-season.

We could put the bounty on first Dragon instead. It would give drake a bit more contention early game like it use too. And it would have the same effect of putting your strong side bot lane, since you can't trade drake for Herald like you use to.

The Yetii Rider26 votes

That would actually affect non-LCS games more, since it would encourage players to play junglers who can solo dragon as early as possible like Skarner, Nunu, Warwick and Fiddlesticks, and may result in some of those champions getting nerfed specifically for that interaction. This method rewards early aggression and trading in lane, which is just a healthier way of handling it.

bill843 votes

Could this make Yorick jungle viable since he can solo drag at level 2? if it does than they should implement this.

Shadòw1 votes

they should just do the same with Dragon what they did with Baron.

A Damage reduction debuff to the target that the Drake is directly attacking. It must not be as big as the one on Baron, but enough so it cannot be solo'ed anymore.

Wouldn't work. Nunu's Consume and Cho'Gath's Feast both deal exorbitant amounts of true damage to monsters, and true damage is not reduced by debuffs.

Shadòw1 votes

Still, you need far more than one ability to Solo a Drake.

A Damage debuff would easily do the job.

Getting solo gold for taking the first turret pretty much guarentees you will be more useful than your counterpart for the majority of the game, that 650 gold isnt a joke

Battlecast Sona2 votes

I thought it was 400 global gold, not 400 gold split between the killers - so you'd get the normal 250 solo gold and then 400 gold is split. Am I incorrect?

http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-615-notes#patch-outer-turrets

Turret First Blood: BLOOD FROM A STONE - In addition to normal rewards, the first turret killed yields 400 total bonus gold to its killer's team SHARED LOCAL GOLD - 275 gold split between nearby champions GLOBAL GOLD - 25 gold per champion

It says "in addition to normal rewards", so the regular tower kill gold comes with the bonus 400 gold.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Turret

According to the wiki the normal outer tower kill reward is this:

Gold on destruction: Global: 100 gold Local: 250 gold is split among the players who participate in destroying the turret.

So it actually should be 750 gold in total, with 225 (5x45) gold split globally and 525 (105/131.25/175/262.5 for 5/4/3/2 players) gold split locally.

I hope i didn't make any mistakes with that information.

I like it. Toplaners in LCS have to be able to deal with a 2v1 scenario and not feed. If it's now a 1v1, we might see some new champs such as Darius Jax and maybe even Nasus

mikemcparty1 votes

Why would we need more of those three champions in the game?

Marshbouy13 votes

He wants more champ diversity, i think a lot of people do in LCS

OxyPoro11 votes

Haha, good old Riot, fucking up the game for everyone else just to make LCS more watchable, oh the irony that the more snowbally they attempt to make the game, the safer pro teams play.

Marshbouy5 votes

Whoah bro that's a lot of salt there. In LCS 400 global gold is a lot more impactful than in non LCS. It's a small change to make esports less completely terrible.

Rustling Bush2 votes

if adc gets first blood that 300 gold, if they are the ones to take the first tower then thats a extra 400 gold from first blood tower + the 275 gold from taking any tower puts the adc at a 975 gold advantage. if other lanes get first blood and bot lane gets first tower blood that person is going to be up 575 gold as well, still quite a alot.

GULAG 4 U2 votes

yay! More LC$BIGPLAY$ and less nonpro patches! Thank u rito!

Toplane Fencer2 votes

Riot specifically stated it was for professional play.

HellsTrueKing1 votes

Wait, wouldn't it do the opposite? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I though the point of lane swaps was to get the outer towers quickly. Wouldn't this make more teams put an emphasis on getting that first tower?

Deep Terror Nami5 votes

Remember that the First Tower kill bonus isn't only change; they also removed the fortification on the bot tower. If it is much harder for the top tower to be killed, whichever team in the trade went bot will have the clear advantage; since they can't let that happen, they simply won't do that anymore.

HellsTrueKing1 votes

oh ok...so it's now easier to kill the bot tower than the top tower, which would make lane swaps uneven.

I would like to know that if they kept the fortification on both top and bot towers (and even increased it), whether teams would still go for lane swaps. I'd imagine that it would delay them a lot, but I don't know if it would deter them entirely.

Sinlaire3 votes

they did increase it. the damage reduction on mid and top went from 35% to 50%. i think it falls off 1 minute sooner now, but the fortification is up on all but bot lane.

Edit: it falls off 2 minutes sooner. duration is now 5 minutes and not 7.

AMYS GRAVE2 votes

God i hope they address the overly snowbally nature of this season. I'd like to enjoy another game eventually.

Sire Hippington3 votes

yea, just that the fortification changes are enough for that, takeing twice as long for the tower than the other team is a MASSIVE setback in competetive laneswaps allready

especially when the fortification buff doesn't apply to bot lane.

Already has mad it snowballier.

Adding FOUR HUNDRED gold ON TOP OF THE ORIGINAL TOWER GOLD was a bit of an extreme measure. Now there is nothing in the game that gives as much gold overall as first tower. So now the turret killer recieves 950 gold if he killed it alone.

aaronautumn1 votes

the 400 is split among team mates whether they were there or not. first tower blood gives 80 bonus gold per player

Pierce The Veal2 votes

Ah I see.

Nonetheless, no other objective besides Baron igives as much gold as first tower. 180 gold to everyone plus 250 split among those nearby. That's 1150 team gold!

Sire Hippington2 votes

To quote the patchnotes:

Turret First Blood BLOOD FROM A STONE In addition to normal rewards, the first turret killed yields 400 total bonus gold to its killer's team SHARED LOCAL GOLD 275 gold split between nearby champions GLOBAL GOLD 25 gold per champion

which means another extra 300g for solo-kill(275local+25global), so the total solo gold earned with the 250 local and 100 global that turrets normally have becomes 650 on solokill(+125 for everyone else for a total of 1150g for the team)

With other words, solo FB on a tower gives more gold than gaining a doublekill, so if you see this happen, treat the champ in question as fed even if he has no kills, as he will have a serious gold advantage from that tower.

NZzNoIrcSy3 votes

it already has, im seeing bot lane towers get taken extremely fast now and bot lanes are snowballing out of control even harder then before

The Deckowner3 votes

Basically as the jungler I gank a lane, then i help the lane push and hit the tower, then I come back again for return gank, and we get the tower, and then gg enemy ff@20.

Games are decided by which jungler can gank bot lane better now.

Athenes Lulu3 votes

It's like asking if first blood on champions will be "gg".

Yes and no. First blood on anything would probably work just like that.

Also, on a solo/dynamic level, it rewards poke lanes because as of now they're not as rewarding as some champion getting snowballed out of control due to kills.

SwordOfWar3 votes

I almost always play bot lane. I play both ADC and support and I like the tower changes. It has caused more early team fights in the bot lane which I find exciting. Told riot that in the survey too.

It's just going to suck when you run with asshole junglers and Top that never want to come bot.

"Hey guys...their Jungler is hanging around bot a lot, probably because they want drag. Would be nice to have a little help down here. We are stuck at our turret..."

........ ........ ........No one comes.

Turret dive. Double kill. Drag.

Hurray! =/

Wheatloaf2 votes

As a mid laner, it lets me balance out my bot lane getting 4-man dove every 3 minutes by rushing down my own tower, and I like that.

AMYS GRAVE2 votes

except that if they 4 man dive bot, they will take bot tower before you can take mid. You have to fight against a fortification bonus while they dont.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

Just for clarity:

FORTIFICATION DURATION 7 minutes ⇒ 5 minutes FORTIFICATION DAMAGE REDUCTION 35% ⇒ 50% REMOVED - MORTIFIED Fortification’s damage reduction no longer applies to bottom lane turrets

This means, actually, that the outer turrets are stronger and bottom lane tower HAS fortification, instead of not having it.

ModAcademy Kayn12 votes

What? It says right there that Bot towers don't have fortification.

Spoofghoul2 votes

It says bottom lane turrets have fortification, but the damage reduction from fortification does not apply to them

so they have it it just doesnt block any damage

meowsuo6 votes

Let me give you an AD buff of 0 or a shield with 0 health. Do you have it?

EDIT: I still think Dr Mercy is right and the towers don't have it. It's probably just worded badly.

Iskoot2 votes

No, think of it like this- They have fortification, (ie extra armor), but they don't have the straight damage reduction.

TL/DR: They have armor, but they don't have Alistar's Ult any more.

That said, it'll be easier to take bot lane turrets than any other lanes outer turrets for the first 5 minutes. After that, all turrets are equal.

Sire Hippington2 votes

The armor/mr buff is called " Reinforced Armor " Fortifiaction really just reffers to the earlygame %damage redction that bot towers now won't have.
