from what I can tell about the server move and the numbers people provide....

in all these east coast numbers threads with people saying their new and old pings heres what I gather from the server move

  1. the regular ping on the east coast was 100-200
  2. the regular ping on the west coast was 0-100
  3. a bunch of east coast players are saying their ping is in a ranged of 45-60 down from 100-150
  4. west coast players went from 45-60 up to 100-150

TLDR: (probably longer than the actually post considering youre reading this overly extended long ass explanation that this is longer than the post itself...how do you feel about that now? you just wasted a few extra moments reading a longer TLDR) Riot gave us west coast players the east coasts old ping and gave the east coast the west coasts ping

How does this solve anything?

This isnt a west coast QQ thread I am legit curious as to what this accomplished other than just stop the east coast from QQing in which case now the west coast will be QQing because you fucked us over riot

the whole "bring everyone around 80ping" idea was bullshit all I see is west coasters getting 45-60 ping now (down from 100-150 WHICH IS VERY PLAYABLE ON)

and the west coast goes up from 45-60 all the way to 100+ (which is still playable on but still)

edit: this is a thread complaining to riot making the decision as a company to increase ping for some players just to lower it for others; this is unacceptable

its only a band aid fix you should be working on lowering ping FOR EVERYBODY to below 60

not saying "yeah whatever the west coast will have 100+ ping now big deal" thats not how to treat the entire west coast. im happy for east coasters (except for the ones gloating about super low ping and telling west coasters to suck it up, those east coasters are little cunts and I hope they suffer all the lag in the world)

Most of the west coast players that I have seen complaining are complaining about having a 60-80 ping rate up from 20-30 ping. While east coasters are now down from 100+ ping rates to 60-80 ping rates... How is a ping differential as large as the first one fair? Yah 100 ping is playable but when other players are getting 20-30 or 50-60 is it really fair? When the majority of the community isn't just concentrated on the west coast. I'm sure it's mostly the new server. Considering the server wasn't moved to the other side of the country but a more centralized location the pings should find a more normalized state as riot works on it.

The goal is to bring everyone around 80 ping. We all pay for the game. It's not fair for one demographic to have that significant of a ping advantage.

The game was stable at my old ping, with this new ping it is anything but with constant freezing of the game for multiple seconds, and crazy ping swings to 270. I hope this gets fixed but if not I might have to give up on LOL.

....Well, at least everyone is down to playable ping now. There was really no excuse for 200+ ping for east coasters, especially since I personally can play on EUW from the US mid-west with sub-140 ping. So, little worse for west coasters, a lot better for east coasters. A net positive.

You say it isn't a west coast QQ thread, but it is almost exactly that. Chicago isnt just some location that managed to get hit on a dartboard in Riot's HQ. They did this because it would be the best option in terms of the many, many things they considered into the server move.

Dude, take a look at the old server location. I live in michigan and ranged from about 100-110 a game. I live off to the east, but you can be very sure that some unlucky men and women in florida (and anywhere around that region) have had their fill of ping issues.

TLDR: Riot spent alot of money on this and you can bet your ass they wont move the server back. The ping is here to stay.

People don't understand they moved the server closer to the majority of players.

Every thread that infers "west and east coast pings switched" is a west coast whine thread. There are people in the middle, too.

It's been said before but east coast lost a lot more ping than the west coast gained, if nothing else, its just more balanced all around now.

People on the east coast dont understand THAT MOVING THE SERVER IS ONLY A BAND AID FIX

increasing ping for anyone should not have ever been ok with riot to do

The majority of the players are actually in the west coast not the east coast, but riot is incapable of making smart decision as a company, trust me ive had bad internet days with terrible ping (200+) but as a company whoever thought of "Hey fuck the west lets increase their ping so the east will stop bitching" oughta be fired

If I ran this company never would I EVER THINK EVER that in order to please others majority or minority, should I screw up something for somebody else

and I mean things when it comes to customer support or making the game work for everyone not silly petty balance issues (because I know youll say something about how then id never be able to balance champs blah blah blah)

riot has made the money and can very easily (if theyve truly been working on it for 2+ years now) make it so everybody gets lower ping and nobody sees an increase

You admit yourself it's playable with 100+ ping, but the east coast has something the west doesn't, tips. Florida for example is farther off because it doesn't just go east, it goes south too. Maine goes north, farther than Florida in terms of latitude. They had terrible ping, ranging in 300+ most days.

I played from an average of 90-105 ping. I honestly do not even care about when people talk about ping anymore.

honestly i think a lot of our ping issues now on the west coats are just from people's ISP because i live on the west coast and i only went up about 30 ping to about 66 ping and its stable, so i think a lot of other people's problems might be their ISP and iirc riot said they are working on fixing issues they can with the whole ISP thing

you forget about japan Alaska and Hawaii

their pings are screwed now

california is playable but annoying that we get higher ping now
