confused about muramana

so i was reading a guide on murmana syndra and how it her ult would activate it for every hit. but i'm kind of confused now, i got near the bottom and he says this

"NOTE: Now that Muramana does physical damage, I highly discourage you from getting this item! Buy lich bane instead if you need more damage! "

i'm kind of confused by what he meant. can someone explain

Maramana use to do magic damage. If it does physical damage then it does not work with magic penetration. Might as well get Seraphim's Embrace and make all her abilities better and have the extra damage work with magic pen if you are going to charge a tear up.

ty, well then do i rush seraphim now? or just stick the the normal guides cause i like playing syndra, but i suck at being a glass cannon so i wanted to try something that would make her bulky but still do somewhat good dmg.

yeah thats my normal build

athene if im against ap morm if im up against ad assassin like zed

athen/morm -> sorc ->dfg -> zyhonas (rush this before sorc if i have a assassin like zed or talon) -> void -> rabadons

Tear/Archangel Staff probably not a good first item to. Syndra needs to crush lane because she falls off later in the game, and Tear build paths are about late game.

just an fyi, they specifically made it so muraman doesn't work with syndra ult anymore. highly annoying, but in something like ~4.5 they changed this and called it a bugfix
