Why everyone is once again complaining about Elise?

YumaS2Astral··11 votes·1,344 views

A couple of time ago, people were begging for Elise buffs. They said that Elise was literally unplayable, and used reasons to justify that such as the fact that Elise had one of the worst win rates on the game, worse even than Urgot.

Now that Elise has been buffed and is now once again viable AND good, people started to complain about her, and that she returned to be the terror that she once was.

On my opinion those complaints have no basis, and people are just traumatized with the old Elise that used to have Lee Sin levels of game dominance. To be honest I don't have serious problems with Elise, and it is actually good to see how she is now playable but is balanced. Elise still has the same old problem that she falls off late game, and that you must decide to build tanky OR build damage.

I would just like to understand why people are complaining if Riot just gave them what they wanted: buffs for Elise.

Because she actually is OP. I switched back from Vi to Elise (who I mained in season 3) because she's just that much stronger. I knew in advance that the increased stun duration would bring her right back where she used to be. That, and she got a few more buffs with it. If you land your stun, you can once again do your full combo before they can even flash. Lee sin can't do his full combo before you can flash if he lands his Q.

Sadly, she's permabanned now. So yeah, she has to be nerfed to become playable again.

(BTW I'm not saying she's the only problematic jungler Warwick Kayle Nidalee Diana XinZhao and to a lesser extend Shyvana andRengar ) This is actually the first time that there's such a high amount of completely unbalanced junglers in the game. Well, atleast jungle has an impact now. (Note Rengar's in the list because of his snowball potential and zero counter play once he gets rolling)

Lee Sin waits for you to flash then follows you lol

elise mains wanted elise buffs. everyone who didnt want to deal with her was happy where she was. so you only saw posts about elise buffs.

not that she was buffed and sees play again, its the opposite situation.

it doesnt require a doctorate to figure that out.

Rinky Dinky7 votes

That would imply the entire boards community were elise mains.

Because nearly EVERYONE agreed she was trash and needed buffs

I have always hated facing Elise, sometimes more than Lee Sin just because any Elise who knows what to do with her kit will win most of the time, the same being true for Lee Sin, but more people play Lee Sin just because everyone does. I always hated seeing Elise and even when she wasn't picked as much I thought she was still op. I main Skarner and win almost every game on him, just because he isn't picked much doesn't mean he's at all bad.

its not the same people. elise beggers are louder than vast majority of players who are now suddenly faced with a now really strong elise. riot should listen to numbers not ppl, then this game will be balanced to ppl when it comes to broader concepts, to numbers for finetuning

idk, I've always wanted to play elise but never felt I'd be able to due to how unrewarding she used to be with that abysmal win rate. Now I'm planning on trying her out once I get back from vacation.

I'm really happy she's viable again, as far as junglers go she's far less frustrating to deal with than people like Rengar.

Because people forgot that getting hit by 5 abilities and then having her become untargetable if she gets in trouble wasn't fuckin fun.

Also because the buffs she got were dumb. People we asking for slight numbers buffs to her base stats or abilities, instead Riot made her stun a one point wonder so she's a stunbot who can max one of her other moves without losing much.

Celeste Benal2 votes

People were already complaining she was a stunbot.

She's fine where she is right now. If you go roaming through the jungle with no vision and enemy team has Elise, you deserve to get 100-0'd. In a team fight, she is not much to worry about.

The people asking for buffs and the people complaining about her buffs are not a single homogenous group. Asking why people are complaining now is like asking why democrats bitch at republicans in office and vice-versa. There's more than one group doing the talking here.

She needed buffs but Riot went too far. This stuff isn't rocket science.

I'm not happy with the Elise buffs. And I am someone who wanted her buffed and has played her continuously, even through her all-time lows.

For me the problem starts back in 5.12. Those changes made little sense at the time. She didn't need a damage amp on her E. She didn't need her heal moved to her R/passive. Then 5.14 rolls out and her spiderlings damage gets buffed significantly and her early stun gets increased significantly.

All Elise really needed were some QoL changes and maybe a slight damage buff.

Riot said themselves that Elise was always on the edge of Viability, which is why they were hesitant to buff her until now. But before the buffs. The people kept complaining about how they were not addressing her core issues affecting her identity.

And that was my problem. As someone who doesn't play Elise, I have no Idea, what her core Identity actually is. Is she a mage, an Assassin, a fighter, or a tank? It seemed like she could do most of those with just a standard set of items back when she built SotAG.

As for the current buffs, I don't see enough Elise in my ELO to make a terribly informed analysis. Her Stun buff obviously was made to give her better Early game ganking power. Now that her spiderlings do magic damage, It's also easier for her to build Mpen. But ultimately, those spiderling buffs gave her more presence in the late game as well. So it seems like we don't even know where Elise's powerspikes should be.

She is an AP jungle assassin. She does it well. And that is all she does. If you build her tank, all he does is run around hoping to land a decent cocoon. btw, she can do that at level 1.

Gigahappytown2 votes

They overbuffed her shes broken again but there are more broken junglers so shes not a problem.

I would just like to understand why people are complaining if Riot just gave them what they wanted: buffs for Elise.

Because the buffs she got were too big. Elise needed buffs because she was too weak. She got huge buffs and became too strong. She went from one of the lowest winrates to one of the highest in one patch (and there are no mitigating factors that would suggest that this winrate is higher than her power should actually allow for). Too weak became too strong. We were asking for her to get buffs that would make her balanced. We weren't asking for her to get buffs that would make her OP.

Elise still has the same old problem that she falls off late game, and that you must decide to build tanky OR build damage.

Sure, but she's always had that problem, no matter how good or bad she's been. She's been the single best champion in the game while still having that weakness in the past. It isn't enough to make her balanced by itself. Her early game and midgame can be strong enough to make her OP even though she falls off, and she did just get huge buffs to her midgame. An extra .6 seconds on the E is absolutely massive, particularly since it means you can always max W second without sacrificing needed utility, and she got other stuff on top of that. It was just too much.

^ Don't forget Feral Flare days. There were just as many OP junglers back then considering almost ANYONE could be built with it and become a better version of Nasus.

I know many people hate him, but I miss the days of being able to take LeeSin to counter the hell out of Elise.

People didn't want old elise back(atleast most), but buffs that also change her a bit in that she's less of a overbearing earlygame plague that out duels anyone and brings devastating ganks with easy towerdives, but becomes more than a cocoon bot in the lategame. By buffing her spiderling dps and early rank stun duration, they just gave her back a overbearing early without doing anything for her bad teamfights. She'S just back to exactly the point she was befor she got(rightfully) nerfed. The pronlem isn't that she was buffed, but how she was buffed.

Also, i would hardly call her balanced right now, her winrate both for unexperienced and experienced players is way above average, and her earlygame is flat out devastateing.

WolfChases1 votes

Currently viable junglers that can 1v1 you with almost no chance for you to fight back that are better than Elise in mid/Late game:

Shyvana with item 3710 XinZhao with item 3710 Kayle with item 3710 or item 3718 Good Rengar is a nightmare. Nidalee is way better and easier to play than Elise and she's also way more toxic to play against. Diana literally 1 shoots an ADC or APC with only item 3001 and item 3724

Do you want me to talk about MasterYi + item 3710 or item 3718 ?? Almost the same shit is Warwick...good thing is that we dont see him that often due to how boring he actually is to play with.

because the community here is composed of people who hate thinking

elise needed a rework .. and even now she needs a rework since her kit is simply meant to dominate unless nerfed to minion tier numbers

and people cried for buffs ... cause fk logic

this is the effect

Hellioning1 votes

She didn't need buffs, she needed a rework.

I did not want her to get buffed. I wanted her to get a rework. Stop putting words in my mouth.

Celeste Benal1 votes

They are complaining because they don't know how to play against her and are getting #REKT over and over again. Most of it involves not face-checking bushes.

If you roll into my jungle with no vision and try to steal my red buff, I absolutely am going to melt your face with a full rotation of spells and smite red buff for the heal while I'm at it.

bizzle891 votes

Well, they begged for a buff to make her viable. Not a buff that would make her OP with a 54% Winrate and nearly 60% Banrate (10% Pickrate). If you have played against a good one with a squishy champion, you'll know the pain. She needs some nerfs to her damage, if they don't want to touch her stun duration again.

Dr Poro1 votes

and used reasons to justify that such as the fact that Elise had one of the worst win rates on the game

..

On my opinion those complaints have no basis

So having one of the highest winrates is no basis? :p

Just face it, she is OP. Just abuse her while you can. She's become my main jungler again (I also mained her in season 3) and I'll go back to others when she gets nerfed (AKA next patch).

Lugg1 votes

She probably received the most buffs in the shortest amount of time of any champion in the history of the game. There is no doubt at all that Riot over-buffed her. She needs to be balanced out now. She is dominating the game right now.
