I can't wait for my immobile casters to be parried and dived by Irelia with zero counter play

Irelia is already impossible to deal with as an immobile caster due to the inability to effectively disengage her after Bladesurge, especially when she uses a caster minion to effectively double the range. The parry mechanic is just an additional 'fuck you,' as she can now negate a large portion of my damage and ignore whatever limited self-peel I have.

I'm sure whoever thought this up was thinking something along the lines of 'lol skill expression at top lane,' but this type of mechanic mixed with Bladesurge is completely cancerous to play against as an immobile caster.

She can still be CCed during her W unlike Flora’s parry, but the ability continues while she is stunned.

And you can also dodge her stun, which is way better than having to hurt yourself in lane to avoid it. No more slow either.

The problem isn't playing against Irelia in lane, it's once mid game hits and she migrates down from top.

Immobile casters are immobile; she doesn't need the slow or stun to stick to them in her current iteration, only the Triforce movement speed. And regardless, she can throw her blades in front of you to cut off any attempt at retreat while she autos you down.

No she can't. Read the skill:

W: DEFIANT DANCE First Cast: Irelia begins charging her blades, losing the ability to move or attack but gaining significant damage reduction for a brief period. This channel can’t be interrupted. Second Cast: Irelia lashes out with her blades, dealing physical damage in a line. The damage increases as Irelia charges.

Cannot be interrupted = CC does not work until after it's over.

You can't dodge her stun given its move speed if applied correctly. She can recast as soon as the second blade is sent, and they move fast.

And there is a slow. It's on her massive ult. 60% slow and Disarm if you attempt to escape through her daggers. Which you pretty much have to, because the only way OUT is where Irelia is. You either have to face her, or you will just die.

The W damage reduction does not stop when she is CCed, but it still affects her. The skill description doesn't say she's unstoppable, but simply that the W will continue if she is CCed.

Which is the same friggin thing, since she can't do anything while W anyways....

item 2420 exists : )

Her stun also gives plenty of time to flash or ghost out of its range and is her only hard cc.

Compared to her current kit of a blink -> unavoidable stun, it seems a lot more healthy to have a dash -> delayed skillshot stun

Why would it matter? With the exception of Annie, virtually every caster's damage is telegraphed and provides time for her to put her W up and mitigate it, after which said caster has no damage output for 6+ seconds. During which time Irelia can just auto them to death. There's no need for any stun.

The point here is that this kit was designed to make her a strong top lane pick, with zero regard for how completely broken it is against non-top lane champions, most of whom are already pretty weak in the current meta.

Designers shouldn't be giving out more overloaded kits to deal with the existing overloaded kits, which is what is happening with Irelia, especially while so many other champions are struggling to keep up.

I disagree. Her kit seems strongest against auto-based champions with her Ult's disarm. Casters can feel free to bait her W with a single spell, during which time she is left completely unable to take other actions, which is a lot more than can be said for someone like Yasuo who can still perform all his other actions all the while his windwall negates spells and autos entirely.
