How Riot is creating a 4-mid laner meta again
Adaptive Helm is going to make almost every mid laner that doesn't dive the backline obsolete. Imagine playing Taliyah where all of your Q's and E's on the frontline do 15% reduced damage. Same for Cassiopeia twin fang. Same for Orianna ball. Same for viktor ult. Same for ryze Flux and overload. Same for Anivia ultimate. The list pretty much goes on, and you realize mid lane is going to be comprised of a small pool of assassins that can dive the backline that can't defend themselves with such easy item purchases. There will be a select few mages that won't be affected as hard that will still be played. (As a long time Kassadin main, I'd say I'm familiar with the difference that 15% reduced magic damage makes).
But yeah. Riot is going to create a meta where the mid lane champion pool is really small because of this item. Wish they wouldn't make Adaptive Helm passive a thing.
I talked about the it more in depth in this forum post if you guys want to read it for reference: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/71ymqENo-dear-riot-adaptive-helm-in-depth-discussion
I'd honestly be very intrigued to hear how/why Riot think this item will IMPROVE game balance at all.
a little more then you think to. Since Anivia's first few ticks of her ultimate is extremely weak, by the time Anivia's ult goes full damage it'll be weaker because of helm while the damage from her weak side is the only ones that doesn't get decreased. Also it'll even decrease Anivia's Q damage technically as well since it damages 2 times so the second part of her Q will be even decreased.
too.
