Dear Riot: Kassadin

Riot, if you're insistent on buffing Kassadin, can you do me and all other kassadin mains a favor and just revert the buffs when you find out that he's too broken. I don't want to experience the pain of reworked/super nerfed kassadin where I had to wait almost a year before he was even remotely playable again. I've been playing him since season 3. I've played with him a lot when I was around d1 elo last season. He's good. Most pros just don't understand how to build him or play him to his full potential, because, to be fair, it's not obvious.

Kassadin has an insane 2 item power spike, but a pretty signifiant power trough before that happens. I feel like buffing Kassadin this way will make him too low risk high reward, and I don't want to see him ruined on some other front just because he got an overbuff.

Sincerely, Kassadin Main

Explain this to me. All they are doing is fixing a bug on his W that was annoying as hell, lowering his E's cooldown by 1 second (which doesn't really matter ever because of how long it already takes to get enough stacks for his E early game, and late game he already has enough CDR this 1 second won't do next to anything), and giving a super minor damage buff to his ult of +10% AP, making it go from 20% to 30%. How are any of these things remotely going to break him?

what was the bug?

Shuyin1783 votes

Directly from the Surrender@20 site (which keeps track of PBE content for patches). Nether Blade ( W ) [bug fix] "Fixed a bug which would allow W-empowered attacks to be cancelled during their windup against targets that had moved out of range after the attack had started."

Is that damage buff to ult to the base? because it scales up to 3x that amount with four casts.

Shuyin1781 votes

His AP Ratio.

OyddAWqJ5r1 votes

The base non-stacked AP ratio is going up, not the AP ratio per stack. It still adds on with the stacking 10%'s as current.

1st cast 20% -> 30% AP 2nd cast 30% -> 40% AP 3rd cast 40% -> 50% AP 4th cast 50% -> 60% AP 5th cast 60% -> 70% AP

Oelyk1 votes

That doesn't make much sense, but okay.(I always thought of additional casts as 50% more damage, up to 200% more damage for 3x the first cast, but I guess thats different.)

MAGIC DAMAGE: 80 / 100 / 120 (+ 20% + 30% AP) (+ 2% maximum mana)

Each subsequent Riftwalk within 15 seconds doubles its cost and increases its damage, stacking up to 4 times.

BONUS DAMAGE PER STACK: 40 / 50 / 60 (+ 10% AP) (+ 1% maximum mana)

any buff that will potentially make him playable will undoubtedly make him broken. this has been proven over and over again. his kit is toxic and needs a full rework

?

Kassadin has an insane 2 item power spike,

??

power spike

????

Unless things have massively changed since I was playing the game, after the Riftwalk nerf Kassadin doesn't have a power spike so much as a low altitude power incline where he desperately tries to survive long enough to get the minimum 4 items he needs to output the damage assassins were doing at 1.5 items. He was a champion that was high risk and low reward, and had to hope to survive long enough to have any impact before the team concedes after a 20 minute 4v5. What did they do to "fix" him in the past year or so?

I would have to type up an essay to explain it all, but in short, it started when his ultimate damage started stacking.

I wished they made him more early game and less ridiculous lategame-based.

3 item spike is a pain to stall through sometimes.

TheGrot1 votes

2 items, not 3

Troll for Trump1 votes

It feels 3 ish though; maybe even 4.

Because he doesn't just straight up go for a few items, he stacks up various components, then completes them all at once.

So by the time you get Lich Bane + other item, you have a bunch of pieces for other items.

With many champs, the only component item they might have after 2 items would be boots, but Kass has a lot more.

I've been a Kassadin main since season 3. It's 2

Heard that boyz? This challenger tier fella just spoke: pros dont know how to Kassadin!

Dyrus will vouch for me if you want. Just because you play the game professionally doesn't mean you automatically know everything about every champion.

I'm not surprised they're buffing Kass considering they buffed Fizz who already didn't need his ult if he manages to get a kill or two ahead. Bugger has enough scaling with lichbane to vaporize anything with two attacks on the account of thunderlords being a thing.

YoungSirJ0ey1 votes

two attacks

thunderlords

Logic.

Also, two things about that: Fizz didn't get buffed; he got his ult nerfed to be less stupid, and got compensation for that, and Kassadin can get 5 kills and still be worthless until lategame.

SH Azykan3 votes

fizz pops thunderlords with just his q alone

Lux does the same thing. E+Auto = thunderlords

A lot of things only need to hit twice to apply TLD due to having a secondary effect.

You seriously think Riot will revert changes, nah man, they don't understand that if a change created more problems than it fixed that it is the change that needs to go.

AFTER BUFF : Dear Riot , please nerf kassadin

Tribbles Foxfolk1 votes

Unlikely they will. They didn't do it for Sona, despite it breaking her and forcing them to re-gut her. (cough insane CDR on her ult cough)

Oelyk1 votes

I feel you.

He's not going to be broken. I've tried him on the PBE and on live and it's barely noticeable. It's not like they're giving him back his 2.5 second silence and 80% AP ratio on R at 0 stacks.

What's your build on him?
