Tips on how to not lose?

PopcornBunni··1 votes·295 views

A mission that keeps showing up for me is "first win of the day" but it seems impossible to get since it requires not losing a game of league of legends.

Any advise on how to achieve this insurmountable task?

Alistar Soraka Lulu Lux Janna Nami Bard Zilean Sona are the ones I have the highest level on

Alistar and bard you can make roaming plays on when your adc backs if you don't have enough to buy something important on.

The rest can all do really well as lane bullys poking from a distance. But like I said in the edit, easiest way to get first win is beginner bots.

I'll give you more on depth stuff when I'm not on my phone

When you are, when is a good level to do pvp then? Right now I'm level 95, and I can win against bots, but not against people unless the enemy team lets us.

I'd recommend never playing bots unless youre specifically just trying to learn a kit on a champ. They dont teach you anything aside from how to dodge skill shots. Play PvP in normals and play all of the champs that give you a hard time. Learn their power spikes and cooldowns and youll improve a lot. Learn when to go for objectives and when to disengage. Im a support main as well who has been bronze 5. Get vision on the enemy jg whenever you know hes not there. Track him instead of waiting for ganks. Go gank his ass with your adc if you know hes alone and low on HP. All kinds of little things add up when it comes to climbing/winning. You just have to practice ALL of the little things and youll see your winrate ryze.

Playing against bots is actually the best thing to do for the first win of the day. Guarenteed completion.

I thought his win of the day was sarcasm and was just asking advice

Ok, back on a laptop.

Vision

  1. Start recoring the replays for your games. This si a good way to see what you are doing without bieng in the moment so you can better see the objectively correct play.

  2. You are doing a very bad job with your vision as a support. There are a lot of games you go without any control wards. This is a job for the entire team, but as a support you should almost always be buying at least 2 control wards when you are leaving the base. Support most important job is vision control. It's important to remember though that there are really good spots to put your control wards.

http://team-dignitas.net/articles/blogs/Blog/11325/a-supports-guide-to-warding-for-everyone

  1. You don't need a warding totem as a support once you have your sightstone. It is much more valuable for you to buy a sweeper and upgrade it at level 9 so you can clear out enemy vision. If you can deny the enemy vision in their own jungle, you can easily set up to make picks on them and snowball a lead. It also allows you to make rotations as they cannot risk following you in the mid game through unwarded brush.

  2. Make sure you are upgrading your support item to at least it's tier 2 form. This causes you to generate more gold and actually lets you have wards once you complete the quest.

Kill Participation

1)Your KP is very low in most of your games. Finding oppurtunities to make a play with your jungler in the enemy jungle for an invade, finding chances to roam mid and make a gank if your lane is in a position that you don't need to be there for your adc, using spellbook to buy tp to do a gank top lane on alistar when you see a good ward behind the enemy; all of these are really good ways to try to make an advantage and gets your participation up. Support is one of the best roles for having agency on the pacing of the game and by not being proactive, you put yourself at a huge disadvantage.

  1. Being aggressive in laning phase is a good way to increase your kill participation; keep in mind there is a difference between being aggressive and stupidly over extending. Because we now know you need to be warding better (and you don't need to watch minions for last hitting like your adc) you can focus on the enemy duo and the mini map while your adc focuses on the enemy and minions. This is divying up the responsibility to make sure that you are as efficient as possible. Playing champions like Soraka you should be telling your adc to go for trades a lot because you will negate the bad trades while getting Qs off to heal yourself back up. If your adc is palying too far back and you are against a lane that has trouble punishing you (or you massively outskill) you can be aggressive on Soraka yourself. She is a very good lane bully because of her range + self healing making trades easy to win in your favor with a 1 spell trade.

Builds

Remember that there is no 1 correct way to build your champion in any given game. From your runes to your items to your summoner spells, everything is a choice depending on the game and your plan going into it. The only thing I would say is a 100% as a defualt as a support is taking flash. Flash is crucial to you as a playmaker for the team, a way to follow the enemy in order to secure a kill, escape a gank, or set up a good team fight for your team.

http://na.op.gg/champion/janna/statistics/support This is just an example, but from here you can see what summoners, rune choices, and items tend to be strong on Janna. You can do this with any champion on any role.

Summoner Spells Ignite - Take this in games where you have an easy lane to play against and there is not a lot of threat to your adc. If you against something like a tank top, tank jungle, control mage mid, and tank support, you probably don't need exhaust for your adc. Most of the enemy team will be low damage and they won't have a lot of good ways to dive into the backline that you can't hold off. Instead taking ignite can set you up with a snowball (especially with the 8.6 buffs that came through) or even stop healing from the enemy to ensure a kill / deny the enemy maokai/warwick/Vladimir etc.

Exhaust - Better against team comps that will want to dive your backline so you can keep them safe from assassins and divers. Shutting down their initial burst and giving your adc time to kite back or even just survive their upfront damage can completely turn the fight around off just exhaust's power dampening. It can also be used to slow an enemy to guarentee some CC if you want. This should be the default, but it is not always going to be a flash/exhaust game

Spellbook - I would suggest always taking ignite at the start with spellbook. Having that early threat can allow you to make a play to either shove the enemy out giving you an exp and gold lead, or even a kill. You can always just change back to exhaust if it doesn't pan out.

Aery - You should be trying to auto poke or ability poke every single time Aery comes back to you (if it is safe for you to do). Aery is a good safety option, but don't forget how much that poke damage adds up. Sure it's only around 15 damage. But imagine you proc it 6 times in a minute. You just put an extra 90 damage on the enemy. You hit them 10 times with it and you have taken an entire health potion off them with ONLY AERY, this is ignoring the damage your autos and abilities do on their own. Getting lots of cheap shots that aren't that powerful is a good way to get an early lead in a laning phase and zone the enemy out.

Comet - Not really the best support keystone for most, but if you are a mage support like Brand or Zyra, why not. You won't make use out of Aery shield anyways.

Aftershock - If you are the primary tank for your team as an Alistar or something this is worth considering if you don't want spell book. The flat armor and magic resist means that getting health is more valuable because you have that burst of effective health. Remember you can always run hexflash in the inspiration tree with this. You can also squeeze in approach velocity to get to your adc and peel them if they get jumped on by a tank or support. This kind of pairing is good for Alistar/Leona because of the need to dive in with immediate tankiness.

Guardian - The rune for your defensive tank supports. This is a good one for Tahm Kench, Braum, Maybe thresh, Etc. Keep in mind this might not be THE best keystone, but it's not a bad one to kind of default to if you don't feel comfortable with Glacial Augment or something else

Items Obviously you want the support item to start with and as I stated earlier, get that quest complete so you can get that vision down. But after that we begin to have some choices in how we go.

Enchanters - Your core is probably going to look something like the AP support item, Ardent Censor, Redemption, and then the new Shurelya's Reverie. You have some good flexibility here with your last items; Mikael's Crucible is good for if the enemy team has a lot of CC, and banner of command can be great if the enemy is ap heavy and you want to shove out (it also gives you the gold from minions that your bannered minion kills, so you know, free gold in side lanes!)

Tanks - Oh man so many good tank options. Is your ADC a high Attack damage, low attack speed ADC like Draven or Jhin? Slap em with a Zeke's and reap in that sweet magic damage burn. It's still good on high attack speed champions, but they NEED to be hitting high AD levels to be worth it. Don't get it with Kog or Varus for example. Knight's vow is good for protecting your adc from divers while also making yourself tankier by nature of your adc is now healing YOU! Protect your adc and you can soak up a lot more damage as they fire back. Maybe the enemy team has a lot of aoe damage and not single target pick damage, pick up a locket (hell, even if they have no aoe locket can be good because of that shield) and deny the resets/deaths from your team. Pick up a righteous glory and run down the enemy and be the main engage on and Ali/Leona.

But it doesn't stop there for tanks. You have things like RAnduins, Adaptive helm, Frozen heart, etc. So many good raw tank items to keep you alive so you can do your job.

MAge supports - Ap support item -> Rylais/ Liandry's torment -> Liandry's torment/ Rylais -> Whatever the fuck you want. PRobably the spooky ghost item though. That's so good for getting picks. You are dishing out a lot of damage, but you are also bringing utility because of your aoe slows.

I am on Vacation right now but I will be returning home sometime soonish. I am an adc main (was diamond last season, am currently plat right now) and I don't mind showing you a few things in game as a duo for normals. Just be warned that I might be a little repetitive as I try to teach you concepts and things I discussed here. Also be ready to go in when I say. Again, this is totally optional to you. The biggest thing is make sure you watch your replays so you can learn how to dissect your own play.

P.s, here is an example of checking champion match ups for trends on what is good against what. http://na.op.gg/champion/alistar/statistics/support/matchup?targetChampionId=40

I tried keeping wards up, but every time I payed 75 gold for a control ward, it just ended up giving the enemy 30 gold for basically free without doing much else. Is there a way to keep the enemy from killing them? They're rediculously expensive compared to actual items, and don't give any beneficial stats to help in a fight,

Sp33d Zer01 votes

Putting the wards in areas you have map pressure on/ putting them in bushes that don't get checked often. The Bush between red krugs and he enemy base for example, or the Bush between wolves and mid.

Putting a control ward in your own tribrush for laning phase or at the back of your lane brush so they have to push into you to get to it.

It doesn't give you combat stats but it allows you to avoid combat by knowing where the enemy is and make good fights where you don't need the stats.

A good way to think about it if you are worried is to use your vision wards for aggressive vision and your control wards for defensive vision. This isn't always ideal but it can work for you. Just don't be afraid of a ward dying to a jungler because at least you know where the jungler is

Good job taking what I said into effect btw. Your last 5 games have a much better rate of success that has gone up with an increase in the vision suggestions! I do want to add make sure you buy potions with tour starting item, either refillable or normal. You don't need the vision wards that early and having the extra 200-450 health in lane is big early game
