New JG Items

I'm not sure if this is the place to write this, since I haven't written on these boards since the old version. Anyway, while the new JG items are cool and all, I kind of wish they'd make the JG passive kind of a "buff" or some type of "enchantment." The new items definitely offer a bit more customization, as you get to choose what smite buff you want and then what kind of stats you'd like, but I still think it has the same problem of limiting champion jungle picks. I think it does a good job of offering a selection that caters to a wider audience, but I don't feel that any of the items are great buys for late game, and no matter which item you pick it ends up making the jg champion feel more like he is a bargain champion than a full force. I think a possible solution would be to take the current passive that allows you to jungle and make it into some kind of potion that can only be bought if you have smite, and maybe the potion can last for the whole game or several minutes until the jungler has time to get going. Usually after a certain level the passive just feels unnecessary anyway. Anyway, what are your thoughts? Interested in feedback.

I see what you mean - Junglers get one fewer item, since they need the passive effects to jungle well now, meaning a smaller build late game. That being said, i disagree. First, you can easily sell that jungle item once you start rolling well in the jungle - theoretically anyway. I don't like to though, because... Second, the upgraded smites (especially blue and red, which allow you to cast on champions for either a slow and some damage, or vision and additional true damage respectively) are not only really useful by themselves, but the enchantments (devourer OP) are definitely helpful - not only can i have AS, or AD and ArPen, or Health and CDR, or whatever comes with magus, but that's going onto a slot that i'm already using. While i would love to see these enchantments become a bit more slot-efficient (can i put my sightstone and my jungle item together somehow? Warding isn't just for supports) they're handy later on for Baron/Dragon even super-late. (the faster i can solo baron, the faster my team gets that buff, the less time i have to worry about enemy jungler noticing I'm sneaking it.) Third, I feel like current jungle itemization(EDIT-AND DIFFICULTY) is forcing a lot of people to rethink how they jungle and why they jungle, which is great. You're not jungling because you want to be a super OP playmaker from level one who ALSO gets to farm jungle camps while he's freely roaming from top to bot - You can farm jungle passively like a top, or you can roam and make plays like a mid, but you don't get to do both safely anymore. As much as I hated new jungle initially, the more i play in it the better it feels. S3/S4 jungle was too safe - anyone could wander in, build damage to rampage through camps, then mobility themselves into a double kill and tower botlane. Now it's forcing the role to step back and look at the game, instead of afk farming camps while deciding which lane to gank next. Upvoted for visibility and conversation.
