Mini Yasuo rework idea

Thought I would share and get opinions:

Passive: Way of the Wanderer, Resolve

Way of the Wanderer: Yasuo has a unique resource called flow that he generates while moving. Yasuo gains 1 movement speed for every 2% flow he currently had.

Resolve: Every 20 seconds, Yasuo generates a moderate shield that last up to 4 seconds (cool down starts after shield ends or is broken). He can reduce the cool down of this by scoring critical hits on enemy champions.

Notes: No longer has double crit chance. Shield has to be played around by both Yasuo and his opponent now. Would probably need to add some kind of effect to let everyone know when shield was about to proc.

Q: Steel Tempest: This skill remains the same for the most part but has a new passive:

Precision: Yasuo gains 10/20/30/40/50% critical strike chance against targets with less than 50% health.

Notes: Still allows Yasuo to have a 2 item power spike, however it adds the restriction of being at least level 9 and the opponent being half health before he can have 100% critical chance. It also allows Yasuo to be a critical champion at lvl 1, assuming he starts q and his opponent is at half health.

W: Windwall static cooldown: 6 seconds. Cost: 100% flow. Make the length static (about rank 3 size on live) and duration is 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds.

Notes: it's still going to be annoying, but of much lower duration for a good portion of the game. Also, using it trades his passive movement speed. Since it costs 100% of his flow, opponents can know when he has used it and when it's available.

E: Sweeping Blade

Notes: this remains the same, but regains the passive for generating flow: 1/1.5/2/2.5/3% per dash.

R: Last Breath

Functions the same, except different effects:

  1. No longer moves to a spot outside tower range, but is untargetable during animation. Damage happens on landing so he will still draw tower aggro.
  2. No longer generates flow, but grants his Resolve passive on landing.
  3. No longer grants armor pen.
  4. Gives 30/40/50% increased attack speed for 10 seconds upon landing.
  5. Gives 10/20/30% increased critical strike damage against targets hit by ultimate.

Thoughts?

Why hasnt riot hired you yet?

I don't they just hire think tanks? :-P I lack other skills and training, so I would have nothing outside of meaningful dialogue and ideas to offer.

On a more serious note, thanks for the comment!

A better idea would be to delete the champion. You're welcome

Or you could get gud. I have no problem beating yasuos

Hawckey1 votes

Yea I can win against them. It's still annoying as fuck to play against to the point I just want to afk lmao. Unless you play certain champs against him, it will be a super cancerous and tedious lane

This is a good way to have Yasuo building bruiser again. Making his defensive abilities more conditional just tells me to build tank.

Shahamut1 votes

I would say its still just as conditional as it is now, except Yasuo has less choice about when to make use of it. Currently, Yasuo charges his flow, and then, when it suits him, he dashes in and trades using his shield to push the trade in his favor.

Am I misunderstanding you? or could you elaborate what specifically makes this more bruiser enticing than current Yasuo?

Giving Yasuo 50% crit rather than double crit gives him much less incentive to build crit. Giving his shield such a long CD makes is less reliable, forcing him to build tankier. Making his wind wall cost flows makes it too unreliable to count on, again forcing him to build tanky. Giving his ult AS encourages him to build on hit items like Botrk and then tanky.

I can definitely see your point there. :/

If you're going to post a theoretical rework, start with what you think are problems with the current kit and what the goals of your changes are. Otherwise all you're making is pointless babble.

Your notes for the first three abilities barely address the why of your changes. You give me no reasons why Yasuo's passive should give movespeed or why it shouldn't give critical strike chance. You point out that your suggested Q would give Yasuo crit at level one - you don't tell me why he should have that. And if your notes for the first three abilities weren't bad enough, you don't even try for the ult.

I don't understand why I should bother telling you how much I disagree with the rework itself if you don't tell me your reasons in the first place.

Im sorry, I figured what little I wrote would suffice given the (what I assumed<---problem?) common knowledge of what circle jerk yasuo players complain about. I primarily wanted to address the shield in lane and windwall usage. The tertiary complaint is usually the double crit, so I gave some thought to that as well.

People complain he just gets to hold a shield then use it, walk away and what not. So I tried to make it less relaible and easy to read.

The windwall is always complained about, but I know at least as is it is essential to his kit being a melee squishy. So again, tried to make it easier to read its readiness and availability. Counter play.

As for double crit, I thought I would just try something slightly different, so he still only needed the 2 crit items to have 100% crit, but then made it situational (only against 1/2 health opponents) so he would have to work at least a little bit for it in duels.

As for the movement speed, it just felt like his flow needed something other than just being his wind wall resource, so something to trade off. Flat movement speed felt thematic and not over powered.

Again, just sharing ideas. I don't know if its your intent, but you sound (?) very huffy and stuck up in your post. I would truly enjoy your imput or thoughts if you care to give them :)

I honestly just enjoy talking about stuff like this.

As a yasuo main, I wouldn't want this rework simply because it would break him. Your proposed kit incentivizes getting levels instead of items, something that is most common to tanks/bruisers.

In his current form, yasuo is forced into building crit to be effective. This balances him by making it so that he has a much squishier build compared to all skirmishers (barring trynd who builds like a madman)

This problem is why it's hard to rework/change yasuo as he needs to stay squishy to be balanced, and nearly all changes people suggest involve changing his double crit passive, which then makes the player lose nearly all incentive to build crit items in the first place.

Shahamut1 votes

Im not sure it would break him, but I can definitely see your point.

Personally, I like Yasuo the way he is. He is a really fun champion to play and not too hard to counter if you are against him. As a top lane main, most of my champs destroy him in lane. :P

I enjoy these kinds of discussions however and tried to give some suggestions based around what I perceive to be his most common complaints :P

I would like to hear more if you care to share your thoughts
