Why can Ashe have a perma slow in her kit but Skarner can't?

Just a question, I wish to know why.

I know other ADC's have one once they get red buff.

It might not be the actual reason, but

  • Ashe is a squishy carry with no mobility. This means that even with a permaslow, most champions with a movement ability could jump on her and fight her if they were even or ahead. In addition, she doesn't (currently) have a damage steroid, though this may change with the rework.

  • Skarner is very durable and and has a damage steroid, so people couldn't run from him or fight him if he got ahead and could permanently slow you. It might also have something to do with Skarner's peel later in the game, since it could be quite hard to actually get past him.

I've never really had a issue with either of them, but I think that might be some of the reasoning. In addition, on the rare occasions I play Skarner, I just get Iceborn Gauntlet after my jungle item so I have my slow anyways.

This is pretty much the reason. Even new ashe (who will have a damage steroid) has no escapes. She also doesn't tank damage.

Champions that absorb large amounts of damage and disrupt team fights (Sej and Skarner) having perma slows is much worse game design wise.

not like it's hard to prevent scarener from getting close enough to slow in the first place... I really don't see a reason for why it was worse on scarener than it is on a 600range hypercarry.

If you can't fight her, you can't run away from her and die. And if you could fight her but have less range, you will just never reach her and die.

If you can't fight scarner, you can atleast stay away, and if you could fight him, you can actually force him to fight...

Ashe is really squishy, so most champions have a chance to just turn and kill/burst her if they aren't behind. It's much harder to turn and kill a tank/fighter who is permanently slowing you.

therefor it was much easier to avoid getting killed by scarner if he's ahead, as you could easily kite him. If he didn't reach meleerange, he didn't have a slow, and without slow, it was nearly impossible to get into meleerange vs the likes of ashe.

Ashe with her permaslow has a similar designflaw as kallista, she got problems vs anything that matches her range or burst-assasins with a 6000+range gapcloser, but totally unfair for anyone that doesn't.

Because ADCs are above the rest of Riot's rules lol

Have been since 2011

He has a slow, passive stun and a suppression that can drag you to his team.... that with randuins, red buff and righteous glory I dont know what to tell you if you cant catch people.

He didn't have all that before, all he had before his rework was a perma slow and his ult.

Why are you bringing his rework up it isn't relevant lol. Skarner is a tank with a crazy speed boost, slow and stun. Ashe is squishy and only has her slows and 1 long cd stun to help her. it wouldnt be balance for a tank to have perma slow with a massive speed boost.

Because Ashe doesn't have a suppression + pull, multiple movement speed steroids, or a stun for Q'ing someone 3 times.

Skarner had none of those before, except for movespeed on his W.

The only CC he had before was his perma slow, and his ult....
