Can we talk about Veigar?

I never thought Veigar was busted, because I've always had a decent time against him, but never ACTUALLY laned against him. Then today, I did. Before first back, we were really even. If anything, I was winning the trades, and even got first kill. He had slightly better CS, though.

Then we both come back to lane, same exact build ( ) and he 100-0s me in a single combo. Meanwhile, I peg him with my entire combo and he's got at LEAST 25% health left every time.

How the hell?

"Just build MR" is the logical rebuttal, and I get that, but we had THE EXACT SAME BUILD. Why can he chunk me like that so easy?

Because he's veigar and he has his passive, making him have more AP than you. As long as you don't get stunned you should be able to dodge his W, and he can't 100-0 you without that.

Veigar isn't that weak early game, don't underestimate him.

He'd hit me with one, MAYBE two spells the entire time. I can get him winning the trade from a wombo, but he 100-0d me when slightly behind and with the exact same build. I don't think what slight AP advantage he had should have been that big a difference.

If he is able to do that, your mistake was already made in the 10 minutes before. I've played a lot of Veigar. His lane phase is horrendous. It doesn't really matter what champion you were playing, just go in. I promise, you'll win it. He can't hit his W without stunning you or you being oblivious, and before he gets AP his ult doesn't do much either. Before 6 he is just awful.

Before 6, basically all he has (assuming you dodge his stun which is not only hard to aim but easily dodged because of the indicator) one damage spell that does 70/110/150 + a .6 AP ratio and that is it. Lets compare that to Annie for a baseline. Annie has two spells that she can reliably hit before 6. Her Q does 80/115/150 and her W does 70/110/160. Their combined ratios are 1.65. Before 6, ABUSE VEIGAR. Don't let him get any CS at all. Trade aggressively (while warding).

You said that you had even CS, which means that you weren't doing this and he was able to get Q stacks off the wave. That is why he does so much damage to you. You didn't build MR and did the equivalent of letting Nasus farm.

The thing is, when you're laning against Veigar and he's level 6 and above you shouldn't get hit with even one of his spells unless he lands his stun, and when he lands his stun you should be full health and not get hit by his w so Q+R won't kill you.

veigar has the poor design of the stacking champ like nasus.

its weird with veigar, because I cant cs for shit but with him I still end up being able to one shot squishies, but with nasus if your farm isnt great then you're behind.

It would help if you told us who you were playing. Whoever you were playing probably just has less scalings than Veigar does so even if you both hit with all of your abilities he will still have more damage from each ability. This is justified because Veigar is super immobile and easy to jump on and kill for champions like Zed, Katarina, Ahri, and Yasuo. If you are playing an immobile champion you are going to have a hard time against him because he is balanced around getting beat by mobility.

He's supposed to be one of the burstiest mages in the game. If you were playing like a poke or utility mage, then of course he would do more damage than you.

You must have let him last hit with Q or hit you with it in the lane phase. Also, he is not going to 100-0 you in the first or second back without landing W, one of the hardest spells to land in the game without any form of CC.

Bait his stun by pretending to all in him. When its down all in him. Doesnt matter what champ youre playing. His W is impossible to land without the stun and then all he has is his Q or if hes 6 R. Thats not going to instakill you unless its late in the game.
