A logical post in gameplay. I must be imagining this

You should learn to think more critically about statistics.

RenownedWheat424 votes

What requires more critical thinking? If I'm wrong here, explain why, please.

How am I reading it wrong that Yasuo with an average 8.25% playrate and 6.76% ban rate wins an average of 49.83% of the time? With a winrate of under 50%, even with the numbers somewhat skewed by the spike in bronze, the claims about Yasuo being OP aren't supported.

I don't even need to take the averages with Lee and Zed because they're ALWAYS below 50.

Because champs like yasuo have a high skill cap. New people playing this champion skew his win rate, much like with kalista and taliyah. However, once more experienced, his kit provides A LOT of things including damage, utility, mobility, sustain, and gold efficiency.

RenownedWheat426 votes

But his winrates get LOWER the higher up you go. He gets better with more experience, yes, but he doesn't see wins as often later on.

Papa Andrei3 votes

Which means look at WR per games played, and then by division :) thats all

RenownedWheat422 votes

There's roughly a 2% winrate difference between newer and more experienced players in most elos.

Papa Andrei3 votes

Honestly thought there was more, like there is almost a 5% for Karthus and larger for Singed players.

Get out. You're not welcome here. You use your brain.

Dreadlocks5 votes

but no1 cares abt ivern or ahri having steady high win rates ...

RenownedWheat423 votes

If you read the END of my post, I state that there are those who are popular AND dominate. But it's not universal.

Dreadlocks2 votes

So? You don't think these champions should be nerfed?

TeemoXNidalee4 votes

Ahri beats all of those

Milla Jovovich2 votes

Nice post, includes stats and what not.

Have a downvote amigo.

I'm already getting some :^)

I even upvoted but silvers caught up and bombed you.

RenownedWheat424 votes

People don't like to see actual stats when they don't line up with their arguments.

Sadly, no matter if you have proof or not, people will never allow others to have their own opinion.

grug1 votes

the reason they are banned is because a SIGNIFICANT amount of the population like to play those champs and therefore have invested time into playing them, banning them is more tactical than you think. the champs listed are also hard to play against with bad ping which is what at least 1/3rd of low ELo are: laggers and foreigners.

when people usually opt to not ban them, they are usually confident that they can stomp the shit out of them until then most of us are content with just banning these manaless fuckheads

RenownedWheat422 votes

Of course bans are tactical.

But that doesn't change the fact that when these champs ARE played, they're seeing sub 50 winrates in every elo, save Yasuo at a bronze level.

grug3 votes

and you think being sub 50% is a reason not to ban a champ?

thats retarded

and here's the counter argument: Ryze

RenownedWheat422 votes

Did I say you shouldn't ban them? No. I'm saying they're not statistically OP.

Ryze CAN be amazing. He can also be fucking terrible.

Ryze is statistically OP though.

W+E+Q and he wins any trade.

It's only lategame/teamfights where he starts to fall off, and come late game, his W+E+Q works in teamfights too.

It's literally the only combo necessary, because even if better combo's would've given more damage, more damage is never needed. The snare, shield, and movespeed makes it nearly impossible to fight back.

Otherworldz1 votes

Clearly Riot thinks otherwise since they continuously nerf the most popular LCS and LCK picks. Rengar, Leblanc, or camille anyone?

RenownedWheat424 votes

Balance around LCS is entirely different.

Leblanc has been pretty ruined (45% or below on average) but she still performs really well in LCS when in the hands of someone like Febiven.

Handin Out Naps1 votes

All 3 of those were perm banned in solo q as well though???????????????????

Ahri is universssal issssshoe

also stop using champion.gg they have already been discredited.

JhamSleaz1 votes

But does OP mean WINS GAMES? Nah. An OP champ will get a double kill when they probably should've died for free. Smart players win games. Decisions do. NOT champion kits.

IdveYsUfSK1 votes

champion.gg isnt even accurate tbh. i personally use lolmasters.

lee sin should be balanced at 48% win rate yasuo should be balanced at 47% win rate zed is actually balanced for now.

these high skillcap universal champs should have < 50 % to be balanced seriously

Niyumi1 votes

Except Riot openly admitted Lee is broken, and also said in the same post that they won't nerf him because of his "contribution to competitive" (AKA, he makes money).

Nice try though.

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

But he won't last forever. His identity is a generalist which is against Riot's balance and design philosophy. The diver update is coming up at some point and he'll probably be hit there like how Maokai is getting changed for similar reasons.

Niyumi1 votes

Lee Sin has been against Riot's design philosophy for years now, still no nerf. He makes money, and will continue being allowed to be broken until he stops making money.

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

Just a little while ago they lowered his ult's base damage.

Niyumi1 votes

Oh wow, they took 100 damage off his 2,000+ damage combo. That's the equivalent of taking 3 AD off of Vayne and saying she's fair.

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

The point is they nerfed him. A nerf is a nerf, you can't say it never happened.

Niyumi1 votes

A placebo nerf is a placebo nerf, and doesn't actually impact the champion in any way.

Arsenic Sulfur1 votes

100 damage is actually pretty big. Now if you somehow don't die(easier now that it deals less damage) he has to devote more time to killing you. Time that could be spent killing your team, booking it, or even flashing mastery 7.

Niyumi1 votes

If he's doing 2,000+ damage to an ADC, they're still dead by over 400 damage.

Win rate does not dictate how strong a champion is.

League of Legends is a 5 player game, there's many champions who are strong and not just one or two. Just because you are playing a really strong champion does not increase your odds of winning simply because the enemy team may also have a champion that is equal in strength.

Then on top of having 5 teammates and 5 enemies, you have to consider that some champions require specific team comps to do well and other champions are plain difficult to use in general. Some players being not experienced with a champion doesn't mean the champion is not strong.

Win Rate is a mixed pool of all of these things, and has no real useage in determining how powerful a champion is unless their win rate is tremendously higher than every other champion (55%+ win rate out of thousands of games).

As a yasuo main i find it annoying seeing all these "Yasuo op omg nerf, new item changes are gonna make him more op" , but in all reality his winrate is actually Really balanced. sigh.

Mannny1 votes

This has some truth to it but Lee Sin has a low winrate because so many people play him + he is so hard to play. I definitely agree with your post but Lee is still a fairly strong its just nobody has an idea of how to play him.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

So many flaws in this thread.Where to start?

RenownedWheat421 votes

Perhaps with an actual argument.

PokladnicaZla1 votes

First of,statistic isn't an accurate representation of a champions strength. Some champions can hold a high WR,but need be viewed as strong ( Amumu and WU had one of highesr winrates in the gane through a couple of season, even in higher ELO,but there weren't any QQ threads).

On the other hand, champions can a low WR ,but viewed as strong not because they're OP,but because they're annoying to face or lack actual countreplay (Zed,Yas,Fizz and Lee) fall into this category. What's more, popular championswith a higher skill requirment can have a lower WR ,because of the amount of people playing them.

LeagueofGraphs their placement and ban rate in; ¤PLATINUM 2.ZED 43.4% 6.YAS 30.9% 9.FIZZ 20.3% 10. LEE 18.6%

¤DIAMOND 4.ZED 31.9% 12.FIZZ 18.5% 13. YAS 16.3% 15.LEE 14.8%
