Should RoA ever be built over GLP?

Honest question from just looking at stats and whatnot, but is there any reason to not get GLP?

In terms of stats RoA offers 200 more health and 20 more AP. You get more damage out of GLP thanks to the active, and the discrepancy gets bigger the more AP you build. Also don't need 10 minutes to reach full power.

Is RoA being 300 gold cheaper good enough to offset the values here?

You mean the Eternity passive?

Catalyst and everything it builds into (RoA, GLP-800, Righteous Glory) all have that.

Ah yes, that's right. My mistake.

You mean the one from leveling up? Because that is now the passive of Lost chapter. And even if Catalyst still had it, not only RoA would have it but GLP as well.

Unless you are speaking about another passive RoA has that I am unaware of.

edit: You are talking about the Eternity passive. GLP has it too.

right, they have the same passive and iirc the upgraded values are the same

I'm just not seeing why RoA should be built now unless that 200 health made the difference

On mages I could see the purpose for the extra raw damage and not wanting to get close enough to use the active, but as far as tanky champions that would build RoA, I can't see any reason to build RoA over the GLP. The active is just so good for champions like Maokai, or Singed.

Yeah, I too only build item 3030 for my "RoA" needs. I think it's superior and at some point that'll catch on.

I think Rod of Ages gives more stats so, if you already have a slow and have high AP Ratios, you could get it. Rod might need minor buffs or GLP minor nerfs, but GLP isn't all that useful if your champion already has a slow since, if your champion already has a slow, Protobelt or Gunblade are usually better.
