Alot of people believe they have a solid understanding of League. Truth is what's popular in thier Elo shapes their perspective and compounds thier ignorance when they encounter low playrate champions.

Anecdote: New player picks Kha'zix. Runs across Mordekaiser. Has no idea Morde can and will destroy him. His ignorance on how to approach him leads to death and warped views of the champion.

It works the other way as well when meta pick destroys off meta not realizing they won the fight due to a kit advantage

It's been 3 years. I still have people tell me "I don't know Morde does". It's willful ignorance for a large portion of the community
