Click R to statcheck harder

I really dislike those champions' design and i think it's unhealthy for the game. Basically giving a champion an ultimate that amplifies what they are already supposed to do.

It doesn't give you anything interesting or allows you to outplay. It just drops you a ball of stats for x seconds.

Vayne Riven Renekton Nasus Jax Trundle Sivir MasterYi

In my opinion, it's just dull, boring, uninspired champion designs and i wish they would get reworked in the future to stop this "Press R to stat check harder" mechanism from existing in the game.

These aren't stat checks at all. I don't think you understand what that term means. Most of them aren't even just used for the steroids.

Okay, so what is statchecking?

A stat check is basically:

Are your stats (health, damage, defense) high enough? Yes: you win No: you lose Where skill isn't a factor.

I shouldn't have said none of them are, as nasus is generally the most used example of a stat check champion. But like riven, vayne, sivir, yi, etc aren't stat check champions. Abilities that just give stats (which the aforementioned champions still don't have, as they offer other things in addition to stats, like vayne's q cd reduction and invis, riven second cast, etc) are generally referred to as steroids.

steroids.

Well then that's what i meant..

I don't think the OP understands what a "statcheck" champion is if they have characters like Riven and Sivir bundled in with champions like Jax and Master Yi.

Riven is NOT a stat check champion, she is very much a skill based champion, as is Sivir. Riven is currently stupidly overtuned, yes, but that doesn't make her a stat check champion. Both of these champion's abilities lie in how well they position and land their skill shots, not whether or not they can out-stat their enemies. Dr. Mundo is a stat check champion. Jax is a stat check champion. Nasus is a stat check champion.

What ever man... the champions i was referring to were champions where you click r and you get flat stats

Oleandervine2 votes

Yeah, and? Nearly every champion in the game has an ability that offers flat stats in some form or fashion. That doesn't make them "stat check" champions though.

I think we should make a clear definition for what "Stat checking" means.

I feel its a kit that is entirely about gap closing and multiple stat steroids all with low or easy to hit skillshots. I would list Jax Nasus as wat I find to be fairly Stat checky. Both are "late game" but the moment they have a fairly tame item lead that's usually it game if theres not a gross amount of CC and constant attention to peeling your teams Damage.

Yes, I understand what a stat check champion is, why are you telling me? Also, the OP is trying to make a case that something like Sivir's R, an ability which gives her and her team a boost of MS, makes her a stat check champion - of which I was refuting. I merely pointed out that getting stats from abilities doesn't inherently make you a stat check champion, since so many champions have abilities that do that in some way or another.

Jax is literally a walking stat check, even outside of ult. So is Tryndamere.

What about statstack Q’s? W’s? E’s? You do realize that if Riot ends up changing R’s that grant stacks of stats it won’t end with just Champion ultimate abilities.

I have mixed feelings about it. For me what it really comes down to the overall kit and what your able to do as a player vs them, not just the ulti. Plenty of champions are pretty bianary even with out Steroid ultis.

However Juice, I am curious why DrMundo Singed Olaf Volibear Shyvana Are omitted from your list.

Not that I personally think they are stat checky champions. Just seems like they meet your frustration for balls of stats for X seconds. Who would belong on your list and why/why not?

JuiceBoxP1 votes

Well... as for the champions you mentioned, they didn't come to my mind really.. Some of them i never played so i didn't knew that they have those ulties...

olaf and mundo definitely fit there...

Riot and the general community: Aatrox and Irelia got reworked because they were stat-checky. The general community: Wait there are more, dammit we didn't think about this!

i would say sivir doesnt belong there because it is only movement speed and others get it too

Darius passive who gives you 230 AD at level 18

i honestly just want nasus's stacking ability taken away. Its kinda OP in solo Q. and hard to deal with in low elo lol. And apparently AP nasus has infinite sustain. But w/e im just low elo so my opinion doesnt matter lol.

Sivir isnt really a statcheck champ, she relies too much on her Q and good E usage for that.

Riven does also at least need to know how to combo properly, she doesnt just gapclose to get ontop you then stand there auto attacking unlike say Jax......calling her a statcheck is about the same as calling Irelia and Aatrox statchecks as well x)

Lovelle1 votes

More than half the champions in this game stat check. Literally every champion that does most of their damage through auto-attacks is stat-checky by nature, especially the ranged adcs. Pressing R to stat check isn't any worse than pressing W or Q to do it. Hell, it's arguably better since said champ is typically gated by cooldowns.

Do you really want every champion to be burst-oriented, skillshot heavy with high utility, like mages?

Edit: Concerning Trundle, his ult can be used defensively or offensively, plus he has enough utility to be played as a support. His Pillar is his strongest skill by far.
