Compiled list of tips for climbing past Silver 1 from Gold+ players to Silver-- players!

This is a compiled list of tips from any and all Gold+ players to anyone Silver or below! My goal is to create a list with the help of other Gold+ players that help make your climb as reliable as possible!

  1. Play a champion that can potentially win 1v2 or greater odds and doesn't fall off. Snowball champs can work too, but they do horribly if they're behind and don't scale hard enough to come back late game in most cases. Too unreliable if you can't close out the game quickly, since team-mates are likely bad.
  • ADC: Draven/Vayne.

  • Mid: Pretty much any mage with extremely low CDs (Vlad, Ryze, Cass, etc), or any extremely safe mage with pick potential.

  • Jungle: Anyone with good dueling potential, ganks, teamfights, and AFK farm/counterjungle potential. Alternatively, assassins if you're extremely solid with them.

  • Top: Top lane mages [Vlad/Liss/Swain/Kennen/Rumble] or other champs that can turn ganks around solo easily.

  • AFK farm while punishing mistakes of your opposing position.

  • Ward and maintain map/objective awareness.

  • Always assume that X champion you don't see on the mini-map will create a worst-case scenario for your action.

  • Glance at the mini-map constantly. Every time you're autoing a minion to last hit, glance at the mini-map for a split second. Make a habit of this. Backing away from a trade? Glance at the mini-map. Applying risky pressure? Glance at the mini-map. Mindlessly autoing creeps? Glance at the mini-map. Ganking? Drop a ward and watch the mini-map while you're going in. Doing an objective? Ward flanks beforehand unless its absolutely free.

  • Split-push while maintaining map presense outside of your lane; make sure your ward to cover flanks. If I can do it with Ghost/Flash top, you can do it from mid or top with TP extremely easily.

  • Guide your team in a non-aggressive manner after you gain your lead; if you are carrying, they are very likely to listen to your directions, that way you're all on the same page. :)

  • Always ban extremely popular snowball champs There's too much risk leaving them open for both your team or the enemy. You never know who will feed on them or get fed on them, or which team it will be on. Most of them are extremely hard to shut down momentum on.

  • Watch Leaguecraft 101 series.

If you have more suggestions on how to climb, or a modification to one of the bullet points, whether it be clarity, correction, or additional detail, post below and the changes will be made. If its already been modified and you think it should be further, comment!

######P.S. These will not just be my suggestions. If people do not agree with my points, they will be removed or corrected as necessary. If logic is used to disprove other points, the same applies to them.

  • #FAQ: ######If a relevant question is asked and receives more than 5 upvotes, it will be posted here so that others wondering the same thing can see the answer

Credits will be given where due.

In an attempt to only list agreed upon tips, only posts that are either unanimously agreed upon or have at least 5 upvotes in total (regardless of downvotes) and agreed upon by at least one Gold+ player's comment will be added to the list.

If a player of greater ranking disagrees with the post and nobody of equal or greater ranking refutes him, it will be suggested for the original poster's rank or below.

Updates once per day. Last update: ##11/18/2016

Bronze/Silver players are desperate to climb.

I've seen a League Plug.dj thread get bumped once a day and end up 10k+ views and 300+ upvotes despite being ignored 90% of the time.

This guide sums stuff up well, but it requires the reader to understand what the terminology means. For example, what do you mean by "maintaining map presence"? Most bronze/silver player probably don't even know what it means to do that. They are probably thinking "Hmm, does this mean I run around like a cockroach when the lights go on?" because this seems to be what they do every time they split push and something makes them doubt their split pushing plan.

If there is an objective that you can get to in reasonable time to contribute toward, go to it. If not, continue to split push/afk farm, as the enemy team being at dragon when its not mountain/infernal means you can probably get a free tower or two top lane.

Always plan to attempt to help with Infernal/Mountain if your team is capable of contesting it at all. If your team (every other player) is not within contestable distance of the drake and the enemy team are all within contestable distance of it (even if they aren't actually looking to take any time soon), there is likely little point in leaving top, for example, if you could trade a tower for it.

Although it requires a little game sense (predicting intention of your team/enemy team), always attempt to run to any skirmish/invade/teamfight that you can get to, even if your allies will die. You might be able to clean up if they dealt damage and weren't already super far behind; you might be able to clean up anyway depending on who you're playing and if you're ahead. Judge carefully and commit when just outside of risky range or turn away to go farm your lane/another lane. If you just stay in your lane, you automatically can't do anything about it, which is bad because you want to spread your presense positively anywhere you can, as you're the only reliable factor in your games.

If the enemy is 5 man pushing bot and someone on your team is dead or not there, and you're near their inner top, keep pushing. You trading inhib for inhib is a good thing, as you likely will not be able to stop all 5 anyway. Even more applicable if your team is behind. The only reason you should NOT do this is if they'll finish the game with certainty or they'll take more than one inhibitor tower.

Don't know if this one is precisely the correct move, but its lead me to win-conditions for my champ in many different games.
