Because his team wasn't hard enough to kill and being "out of play" allows him to eat his teammate and run away with them.
Either this is a major bug, or it's intended and something that shouldn't exist.
Literally just watched a Nidalee Zhonya's to have their Tahm Kench eat her and run away.

Jefftiffy1 votesI'm kind of surprised that no one cares about the fact that Tahm can literally eat someone who is using Zhonya's and walk away with them. I mean does nobody else think that this shouldn't be allowed?
VaporeonKun1 votesWhat is the downside? It just wastes one or the other ability. If Tahm planned on eating them anyway it wouldn't change much, however if this is something that can be done someone needs some video proof or something and then shown to Riot support.

I literally watched it happen. The downside is basically that you can bail someone out before they have a window to be killed. I watched a Tahm Kench run up to a Nidalee who was using Zhonya's eat her and walk away with a yellow glow coming from him and spit her out gold and swap back to normal.
