Ashe Concept Rework

First I must say that Ashe's kit is really solid right now and that she really will not be getting massive changes for my ideas, just mainly quality of life features the biggest of which all her abilities will interact with Focus when it reaches 100 Focus stacks.

Focus (Passive): Unchanged, the ability still stacks focus stacks when you have not attacked anything in the last 3 seconds, the starting focus stacks is your critical % and the focus stacks stack faster based on Ashe's level. In addition though your Focus now amplifies one of your abilities (still critically striking) consuming the Focus stacks in the process.

As a safety feature, which only would apply if you happen to get 100% crit chance, Focus has a 3 seconds minimum of not attacking anything before you can use Focus and a Focus empowered ability again.

Frost Shot (Q): Toggle ON: Apply a 15/20/25/30/35% slow for 2 seconds on-hit (8 Mana per basic attack). [Unchanged] Toggle OFF: Gain 20/40/60/80/100 bonus basic attack range. [NEW*]

Passive: While toggled on, Consume 100 Focus to stun your target for 0.75/1/1.25/1.5/1.75 seconds instead of slow.

Volley (W): Unchanged

Passive: Consume 100 Focus to cause all 7 arrows to critically strike.

NOTE: Volley does apply Frost Shot's slow, but it obviously cannot stun with Focus because not only a long-range AoE stun be super powerful with the AoE crit, it would take away the decision making of using Focus when it is readied.

Hawkshot (E): Unchanged

Passive: Consume 100 Focus to apply vision on units spotted by Hawkshot for 5 seconds and reduce Hawkshot's cooldown by 60% if any enemy champions were spotted. Afterwards your next basic attack within 6 seconds will critically strike.

Enchanted Crystal Arrow (R): Unchanged:

Passive: Consume 100 Focus to cause Enchanted Crystal Arrow to deal 50/75/100% increased magic damage.

Hope you like the idea! ~ Stacona

EDIT: Some changes I added on to increase Ashe's decision making (giving her more choices) where Frost Shot has some extra utility between having the Toggle OFF to gain increased range or the Toggle ON for the on-hit slow but lose the very long range while still consuming mana per basic attack for the slow.

The other change is the empowered Hawkshot will no longer refresh the ability's cooldown but reduce the cooldown by 60% instead, while Focus is consumed when you use Hawkshot your next basic attack will still critically strike if you attack something within 6 seconds so that you do not lose out on Focus' main purpose which is grant a free/guaranteed critical when it is up.

Also as a safety net if you happen to have 100% critical chance Focus cannot be used again until at minimum of 3 seconds of not attacking anything. This is to prevent perma-stunning / having every ability empowered which takes away the decision making of this idea and playstyle.

Let me know what you think of these changes.

I like where you're headed with these, but these changes are deceptively strong. A 1.75 second stun, even late game, is stupid strong as is. That's a Gnar ult duration at max rank; and this one is just by basic attack. If every volley arrow crit, that'd be insane. And you usually DO spot enemies with Hawskhot; I don't think many people would be happy to waste their free crit by accident, and the huge range vision she gives shouldn't give a reset. I dunno about the idea of interacting with her passive, though her passive (and her overall) does need tweaking, just not like this.

TF has a 2 second stun on his basic attacks, and irelia is at least 2.25 seconds stun /slow if not longer (the tooltip says 1-2 seconds but it is wrong, Riot still has not fixed the tooltip to match the actual slow/stun duration)

You can only hit one target per arrow and the ability barely does more damage than your basic attacks

hawkshot idea could be focus gets consumed but your next basic attack still critically strikes if you attack something within a certain time this way you still have your crit and interaction with hawkshot

He does; but it's a spell which costs mana and it's related to his kit overall. Ashe already has a stun in her ult, another one on her auto attack seems excessive. What happens if you build 100% crit? Always start with 100 focus, 1.75 sec stun every 3 seconds if you just pause. That's impossible poke to fight against. Regardless of if volley hits one person, an AoE crit is strong enough as is; Yasuo's Q is pretty short range but the damage is still devastating, is it not?

it won't happen that often though for Volley to critically strike, and that is even on the premise that you use empowered Volley everytime it is available - also 100% crit is a simple solution , Focus has a minimum of 3 seconds of not attacking to ready even on 100% crit chance

I made it for her ultimate consumes Focus if readied so you cannot double stun- unless you basic attack first then ultimate but at that short range your ultimate's stun duration is very low so it kind of wastes your ultimate

I like the idea of turning her focus into a resource but the problem I see is that you can't control the loss of that resource very well mid game when every other auto will crit and loose your focus stacks. Conversely, if you ever hit 100% crit, then you will be able to empower all your abilities every time which would be too strong (you could literally perma-stun someone).

If focus didn't factor into her ability to crit, but rather built up faster if she crit (like Tryn's rage) that might be better.

Normal crits do not effect Focus with my ideas nor do they effect Focus stacks currently on LIVE- the Focus crit and the regular crits are actually separated they changed this a long time ago-- 100% crit chance is a retarded build in the first place, but as a safety net you cannot stun someone again after 6 seconds has passed this is a easy solution to a perma-stun problem and if Focus was readied your ultimate consumes Focus stacks so you cannot double stun with your ultimate and empowered Frost Shot, even though the inverse can happen but if you are in range for your basic attacks the ultimate stun duration is extremely low

i like the concept of Ashe lies in wait to strike at her opponent's weak spot which is what Focus is about, and i don't want to change any of Ashe's current mechanics but to add on some interesting decision making and thought processes

What a coincidence, I just posted something on why Ashe needs a rework too!

In my opinion, the things that could be changed are Q and E:

  1. Toggles like Aatrox's W involve active decision making by players, while toggles like Karthus' E is a large part of their damage, and players need to stick to their enemies to make use of it. Other toggles like Singed's Q is just fun. Meanwhile, Ashe's Q does not add meaningful gameplay to Ashe or her opponents, nor does it feel as impactful as the damaging toggles. However, changing this to another skill will make Ashe too similar to other ADCs and we will lose the only targeted ranged toggle CC in the game.

  2. While I appreciate the utility of E, the long CD makes the skill very situational and the passive is also not interesting. However, again, it's an iconic skill that no other champions have, so it definitely has reasons to stay.

All in all, I don't think that Ashe needs her skills replaced, but I would appreciate some changes that make it more interactive, more actions for the players to do, since currently, playing Ashe is almost entirely right clicking.

Regarding her passive, I actually feel that it can be very good with minor changes. I had an idea where if Ashe last hit a minion, it will not stop the focus regeneration, or maybe delay it less. It will reward good players more and not punish players for doing their job in lane.

I could change decision making on Frost shot to still be an on-hit slow on toggle on- but toggle off could be increased range (700 at rank 5) this will give ashe a meaningful decision between having longer than average range with the slow or forget the slow and just be a long range long bow user and emphasizes her hyper marksman status better

Hawkshot is solid - the Focus interaction i proposed could be interesting gameplay, it sacrifices her free gauranteed crit for even more vision- passives usually do not have a whole lot of interaction or interesting gameplay since they are passives- interaction with abilities would create interesting scenarios and decision making- i don't ashe needs a majour rework at all either- my ideas are mainly decision making- i could throw in an edit with a decision making version for Frost Shot
