Is there a specific reason Krugs has to take so long to clear?

Like, it's just dumb. You're expected to be available 24/7 to gank, but clearing Krugs is a nightmare. Could they at least split instantly, without the need to wait for the animation of them falling to be over before you can go back to hitting them? Or better yet, can the split mechanic just go away?
