A discussion about lee sin

I noticed a pattern that repeats every year. Riot buffs lee for worlds every year because they are determined to make pros play him. Then they take forever to give him a half ass nerf only for riot to rebuff him for worlds again, meanwhile he dominates the game for many months, having the highest playrate as well as around a 49% winrate. Keep in mind that this number is because there are many inexperienced lees who get fed early game anyway but throw the game because they let the game go too long. Even then the skillcap of lee sin has decreased significantly over the years. In season 4 only diamond+ lees could pull off insecs, nowadays every fucking lee pulls 4 insecs a game. Playing against an experienced lee is pure hell. Getting hit by a single q at level 3 means losing 40-50% of your hp which throws off your laning phase and might force an inconvenient back at best. Another excuse people make is that it's an early game meta so lee sin would be strong. What people don't realize is that lee sin being strong is part of the reason it's an early game meta. If your team's jungler is a champion that can't deal with lee, expect to be playing from behind for the entire game.

popular champ. when his playrate went from 40-60% to 4% due to the trinket change (I forget what, but pretty much ward jumps were a thing of the past, I think it was the warding jungle item?) they buffed him asap and his playrate went higher.

almost makes you think the champ isnt played because he's flashy but just outright broken.
