@Riot, next champ when?

It's been about 2 months since Bard's reveal. When will the next champ be revealed?

I don't really want new champions until the older roster is, for the most part, up to speed.

Rek'Sai and Bard were quite far apart. I don't imagine we will be getting a new one anytime soon.

Gnar and Azir were released within a month of each other almost.

Gnar - August 14th, 2014 Azir - September 16th, 2014

I remember after Gnar released, being surprised at how quickly another champion came out.

Ideally, we'd be in a good place to see a new champ every 2 months, and a champion update every 2 months. Obviously that doesn't happen, but we could always see another quick release like Gnar > Azir.

edit Kalista and Rek'sai were even closer together as well it seems (November 20th and December 11th, per league wikia)

Gnar was actually released late due to bugs and some other things they had to fix up on him. That's why Azir's release seemed to be early ( although it was considering he had locusts swarming around him).

That's kinda impolite way of asking for informations.. I doubt Riot would reply to it.

I know there was a tweet recently that one of the devs is working on a new champ. No idea what stage that champ is in.

They work on like 4-8 champions at a time.

We've got 6 champs in the pipeline at the moment. Those range from pretty close to complete (next champion due out) to just started and nothing but some initial ideas about possible directions on paper.

Is it going to be this much delay between each from now on? This is even slower than last year. It was like 2-3 months between Rek and Bard and that doesn't seem to be changing with whoever is next.

It's very likely that, as per last year, there'll be some variance in the time between champion releases, with some shorter gaps between champions too.

This may be unpopular by some, but we have so many champs on the roster now, I wouldn't be opposed to releasing one new champ for each role per year, so 5 new champs. Then take the extra resources to work on reworks, VUs, etc.

There was a post a while back about a lot of the more recent champs taking a lot more skill than a lot of some of the older champs. Sure, more skill and bigger plays is a good thing for LCS, but I'm sure it would be nice to take the skill cap down for a new champ for some of the newer players (or even those with less skills/hand eye coordination). Any work on some more...simple champs?

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

I'm afraid this isn't a very good game to play with poor hand-eye coordination :(

New champs do seem to be getting an awful lot of mechanics packed into their kits lately. For newer players, I'm sure it's difficult just to remember what each champion is capable of.

I guess I am referring more to those who play bots only where the skill cap is significantly lower than pvp. That and the point and click champs like annie or yi. You do nothing but hover your mouse over a champ and qwer.

Any chance you can say what role/roles the next champion scheduled for release is intended for?

Idk why you're wondering about new champ releases anyway. Honestly, i'd rather see riot fix up old champs rather than introduce new ones. As you introduce new champs the older ones become obsolete, so reworking oldies as to ensure the power creep doesn't get out of hand seems like the most logical, and best thing to do for the game and its players.

Meddler, recently I've noticed more and more of a certain character that dawns a 'helmet of many battles'. Most recently in the Omega Squad Teemo skin's preview.

I know this is essentially equivalent of asking a magician how he does his tricks, but is there any way we (Or I in this case) can get any info on if this is a possible sign that he may one day see the light on the Fields of Justice?

Or is this just a reoccurring joke that you guys sneak into everything?

Hey dude, have you ever given any thought to a "Community input" champion? Something like a twitch stream where a few champion developers kind of just sit around and get suggestions or input from twitch chat?

Like take a weekend and pen the rough draft or the appearence with people.

We all know how that is going to turn out.... That's going to be a waste of time knowing this community

As in 6 new champs or does this count updates like Poppy/Taric as well?

Jeddy0173 votes

The champion updates are done by a different team.So no,this doesn't count updates.

Any chances for another female true tank? Leona and Sejuani are so very lonely.

GaleWinUnleashed1 votes

I'm pretty sure that statement is true 100% of the time.

Oddysseas1 votes

Never, they will not release a new champion until people stop trolling which is never!

Sarutobi1 votes

Ya nowadays its usually at least 3+ months till we even get a hint of a new champion. I mean i remember the hints for Bard that didnt come out till about a little over a month from his actual reveal. we still have some more waiting time for it.
