So is the Urgot rework dead?

I can only assume so when you're actually actively changing him this patch, and not a single reference was made in the patch notes to the upcoming rework for him that was talked about. So is it dead?

It's iceboxed. Gameplay direction on it wasn't working well enough, while other gameplay explorations for other champions also strongly in need of a full rework were (Yorick etc). We'll get back to him someday, it's very unlikely that'll be this year though so we're looking to do a bit of smaller work on him instead.

Haha, yeh, I know I'm not. Just being dramatic. I think Riot's already said reworks should be speeding up this year compared to last year, and 14 are listed for last year, not even counting the marksman update. So, yah, no way in hell Yorick will be the last rework of the year, but he's the last one listed..and just wanted to write something silly..

oh wow, I was expecting that this is just some temp buffs while you guys work on the full scale. Oh well, just don't let him become Eve. You know, when people announced they are looking at her then gave up and never came back to her again.

Genuine question: How much time does Riot give the various teams to make progress before things get shoved onto the backburner (Yorick), iceboxed (Urgot) or completely scrapped (Ao Shin)?

That's good. I agree that Urgod might have some counterplay issues and well, his looks are kinda awful compared to today's quality bar, but his kit is still unique and so is his itemisation for a marksman. I'd certainly prioritise Warwick and Yorick over Urgot.

Iceboxed doesn't mean dead, it's instead a strong 'put on hold'. We haven't committed to specific champs for next year yet, Urgot's one of the strongest candidates for that period though.

Please don't nerf Urgot to balance a gimmicky ultimate. You guys destroyed my Hecarim and oldschool Fiora. I almost quit league of legends after the Fiora rework. She's total cancer now. I completely stopped playing the champion.

Yay! I mean, I can't be the only one kind of happy with this, can I? I feel like his kit offers something really cool to the game, and the interaction with the E and Q feels super rewarding. His ultimate is a game changer if used properly, and with the fear added in (as well as the W proccability) it offers up new and innovative ways to use his ult. Maybe adding an interaction with his Q and W (Or just a new skin ples rito ples) would be the greatest. As an aspiring urgot jungle main (Yes... you read that right), I'm really pumped for the future of Urgot's kit. Thanks for all of your work on Urgot's kit! :)

Naw dude you have a valid point. Personally, I don't want to play Urgot because he just...well, looks horrific. Not to offend the abilities of the animators (y'all do great work btw), but he just looks disgusting. His kit is really creative though. Like you said, his q and e combo is quite effective, and a gank with that would be terrifyingly effective. Maybe sometime in the future I will play him (I like his Battlecast skin), but for right now, Imma stick to the junglers I know and love RekSai and Udyr

Thanks! The horrific look is to fear the enemies into retreating once you hit level 6 and gank every lane [slayer-jinx-wink] I think he works really well for what he is supposed to be: an immobile anti-tanky top laner tanky top laner anti-support support anti-mid lane mid laner anti-jungle jungler anti-adc adc.

Why would he get reworked? He perfectly fine. You prolly just don't know how to play him. I like him though. Urgot =[slayer-jinx-catface]

No, he's not fine, neither it's because we don't know how to play him. His kit is unilateral. You dominate with him because his stats are too high, or you lose because his base stats are too low.

And he falls in the definition of anti-fun. If you get hit by his E, you don't have any choice but to run away, which you'll do slowly because he slows as well.

Riot was planning to re-work him because of this very reason... But the direction of the balance team changed recently (halfway through season 5). Anti-fun kinda became a myth... I honestly don't know if I like or dislike the new stance of the Riot balance team right now.

LoL kinda feels like DOTA at moments right now. Characters that bursts you by themselves in less than 2 seconds with little to no counterplay. But a lot of characters act like this... so no idea If I like this or not.

Or due to the serge of new ad items that do NOT work with him, he is entirely outmatched and out of place. Not to mention tank items being nerfed........ item 3070 item 3004

I like him too xD The best/most fun build on him is item 3042 item 3153 item 3812 item 3156 item 3142 item 1301 Idk why I play that, but It's stupid fun in the top lane xD. Combo BORK with his ult and it's GG xD
