Unpopular opinion : I hate "honor"

TL;DR at the end

First of all, no I didn't get recently banned, neither am I a toxic player Secondly, I do not say that toxic behavior shouldn't be punished, I'm saying that nice behavior shouldn't be glorified

I do believe that this "honor" system is the most stupid thing added to the game. You shouldn't get rewards for being a kiss-ass in game, craving for honors in order to get what everyone should be allowed to get (yes, chests). We all know that there are a lot of kids around, reporting you for beating them (and that affects honor, yes). Same way as premades can just spam each others with honor (I know it goes up slower, but still, a system like this shouldn't happen and we all know that most of the time, 4 premades will bully the last random player)

"Honor" shouldn't be monetized, if you want players to actually be nice and enjoyable, start making the game nice and enjoyable. I do believe that the tense around the game at the moment (even though it has always been toxic, I feel like it is even more toxic at the moment) comes from the fact that one death from a side, can mean loss for that side. Let's say you're midlaner, the Zed got a kill, reached 6 while you're still 4 and can just tower-dive you over and over (that's just one of the numerous examples).

I do remember people always honoring each others, and even sending random skins to each others for enjoying playing together, I myself, made one of my best friendship through league of legends, by meeting an amazing player, and we would never have met outside of it (since he lives in another country). I do feel like "honor = rewards" has become a deal between players, and not something truly meaningful. I'd rather have just a simple banner or summoner icon saying "You're a player being honored a lot" rather than being granted advantage beyond useful to the game (random skins, random champion shards, etc...), while having these advantages being removed for "being mean"

All of all, I hate the honor system as currently is.

TL;DR : Honor is a terrible system punishing players for "being bad mouthed" and giving access to better things to "kiss-ass players". Being nice should be a natural thing, not handling you a cake over your head and promising to give it to you if you're nice enough

Honor just goes to whoever had the best kda, and if no one really carried then the support gets it

I think most people just honor somebody random. Like does anyone actually care if a teammate acted especially nice? Most games nobody even says anything anyway lol.

Yeah it's even forced to honor someone though, at the end of the game you have this big ass screen asking you to honor someone, if nothing noticeable happened during that game, I admit it I just click on someone randomly

I care if somebody acted nice, was funny or in some way made the game enjoyable and fun to play, I care if they made calls and helped direct my team, and I care if there was somebody that stayed calm when people are flaming, or stepped in to try and stop the people that are flaming over super small things. I make sure to try and acknowledge and appreciate the people that are not toxic and are actually helping the team.

For most of us the honor screen is just an annoyance we are forced to click through which offers us no value. There's nothing wrong with your perspective on honoring allies but there is no reason why the rest of us should be forced to go through the motions after every single game.

The only reason they did that was people were complaining that they didn't earn honor. Now thanks to those people we are all forced to click on some extra buttons for actually no reason because we aren't interested in it.

Btw if you look closely on the honor screen there is a button with an arrow and when you hover over it, it says something like “skip honoring somebody for this game”. Which allows you to not honor anybody fora game. Which I always use if I got a team that kept on flaming me or somebody else.

Clicking that button is the same as the other ones.

Not really, the other ones force you to be a “kiss ass” and honor somebody random for no reason, skipping the option to honor somebody shows that none of your teammates deserved the honor. Which is completely different then randomly choosing a person to honor even though that person didn’t deserve it.

The problem for me is that there is that time it takes for the screen to come up and then I have to click something. I don't care what I click. I don't care if I had to honor somebody or not. I just don't enjoy being forced to click an extra button after every game for no reason.

I mean the poster of this thread does care about being basically told to honor somebody but you're replying to me right now.

Yeah my pc is kinda on the slow side, I definitely agree that it is super annoying having to wait for the damn honor screen to load. Usually it takes like 30 seconds longer than other people for my honor screen to load.

I was letting you know in my last response that honoring somebody randomly and not honoring anybody are two completely different things.

Khristophoros1 votes

I don't even have a slow PC but whatever time it takes, even if it's like a half second, annoys me.

Oh and I usually random honor because I want the honor points... :\ I mean I don't really care about it but if they're gonna put in points to get I'm gonna get em.

Most people just honour someone randomly, or honour the best performing teammate in the game anyway (as long as they don't blatantly trash-talk and insult the opponent; though there is a catch, if you perform way too good, you might not receive honour, because your team might think you'll get honour either way and they all go and honour someone else which results in the carrying teammate getting 0 honour).

So it's not like everyone is trying to be a "kiss-ass".

These are the words of a bitter person who isn't top tier in the system (of honor). I know because I was you one. This is the same argument as "I'd be Diamond too if I didn't have a life."

Look bro, here's my advice to you as someone who had to learn the hard way, often multiple times and over may years. The problem I would guess you face is a few things:

  1. You think other players are stupid (they might be)
  2. You lack the ability to acknowledge this
  3. This need to say things is preventing you from getting stuff.

So as an unsolicited consultant here, I'd advise you to duo queue for this reason: The problem isn't that you're calling stupid players stupid. Your problem is that they know you are. To earn more prizes without stopping yourself from hating people do this:

Get a duo who can handle it, and queue up using voice chat and bitch about the other 3 over VC. This is not illegal so long as you find someone who can either ignore or understand you. You don't hate efficiently enough, and if you do what I tell you then you're going to be on easy street in no time.

Dude I'm honor 4, as I said I'm not complaining. I'm saying that "honor" shouldn't bring more in-game stuff and should remain as something being plain deserved

In that case I 100% disagree with you. This is the one time Riot did the smart thing and said "We're going to give decent players stuff. If you don't care, of flamming strangers is more important than stuff then do what you want, but following the rules is in our interest, and we're going to make it in everyone else's interest as well."

Homestly I honor who ever played nest for the team.

I pretty much never talk in game unless I'm coming down on some guy being a little shit to another teammate or someone has a funny name/moment. I got to honor 5 despite that. That being said, if people are incentivized to act nice when they otherwise would not, and it works, the system is actually quite good. I don't give a shit if they're kissing ass while they're raging on their end because of dumb shit. In fact, that's just proof the system works.

the honor system works fine... its a LOT better than the old one.

i do miss the ability to honor opponents... sometimes i would rather give it to someone on their team

but i dont agree with most your statements.

u dont get punished for people insulting you.

if you can't take insults without just laughing at how stupid they sound, and insult u have to insult them back.. then just mute them.

i end up muting people like once every 50-100 games.

because when people say stupid shit.. i just laugh.

u dont need to "kiss-ass"

clearly the way u are talking shows exactly why u aren't getting honored. stop being rude. if u want to get honored EVERY SINGLE GAME?

play Soraka

u use your ulti well you will be hardpressed not to get 3 honors every game. unless u talk shit and are a complete ass.

just because YOU might honor a random person.. donest mean everyone does.

if no one is honorable... then i honor NO ONE. if more than 1 person is... then i have to choose. and if i cant decide then i pic w/e person carried better

you can yell at your screen if someone is a moron... just dont type it.

being honorable is not hard.

you can say thing like "nj" when your ally gets a kill.

just being a kind person goes a long way.

i have been honor 5 for over a month now. i was honor 5 last season as well.

being friendly isn't hard.
