If Anything Is Done About Yasuo...

Can his ultimate cool down be addressed? Right now, it is 80/55/30 seconds for a move that deals 200/300/400 (+150% bonus AD) physical damage, extends the duration of an airborne effect by 1 second, blinks him into the enemies, makes him ignore 50% of their bonus armor for 15 seconds, and fully regenerates his Flow. Talon's ultimate arguably does less and it has a cool down of 100/80/60 seconds.

He doesn't need a nerf. End of story. He's extremely punishable and is only complained about because his counterplay isn't textbook like other champs' is.

He does need a nerf and he'll get one eventually anyway.

judging by his stats, hes balanced right now.

52% winrate, and 55% winrate for experienced players. hes not in a state where hes actually too strong. hes just perceived much stronger than he actually is due to being a hard counter to specific popular champions, and ranged champions in general.

Warlord Zudane2 votes

I like to ADC/supp normally (tend to be ADC when I come across a Yas) and yes he can be easily punished. Just stop running from him!! I swear I see Yas more than any other champ staying to fight at low HP. Make him suffer for it. If you run you aren't fighting and his health doesn't drop. Drop his health to 0 and he isn't very powerful.

Yea, windwall sucks but a few spaces to the side and he's attackable again. Sure windwall can block projectiles, but without that Yas dies sorta fast.

hit em with the good old ezreal style nerf, +40 seconds to ult cd at all ranks

ezreal got this nerf due to increased cdr on items available to him.

plus, he has a mechanic that further reduces the ult cooldown with his q, causing him to ult practically every 30 seconds.

neither of those applies to yasuo.

This just in: Yasuo's CDs aren't low enough.

his q is basically an auto attack. his w actually has a really long cooldown, and his dash has a decent cooldown against the same enemy unit.

yes, his ult cooldown is relatively short compared to most ults, but considering that its very conditional and not just a direct targeted ability means he wont be able to use it reliably every 80 seconds.

its not even as reliable as irelias ult. he needs to set himself up to be able to ult someone, which limits the frequency at which he can use the ability.

if he becomes too strong some time in the future, they can indeed put 10 or 20 seconds more on his r. but 40 seconds is overkill.

His ult is also 10x more powerful, not a glorified wave clearing tool like irelia's. Irelia is a super minion and shouldn't be a measuring stick for any kit to determine it's value. She's a walking ball of stats.

That's not the point, the point is Yasuo needs that kind of nerf.

His ult has huge impact for such a small cooldown.

he doesnt need any nerf right now, considering that his win and playrate are fine. there is nothing wrong with 52% winrate with 6% playrate, capping out at 55% winrate on mains. those are normal stats for a decent champion.

people tend to freak the fuck out whenever melee carries are halfway strong and something manages to keep up with marksmen in lategame power. it was the same with juggernauts when they were good champions, and its usually the same with melee adc like yasuo, and yi.

Depárt1 votes

Yasuo has an average 11% playrate, not 6.

Win rate and play rate don't say anything for how frustrating or unfair a champion can be, Yasuos ult is extremely impactful for it's cooldown, 80 seconds at level 1, going down to 30 at level 3 for one of the highest base damage and scaling ults that also suspends you in the air and then gives him 50% bonus armor pen.

Don't get me wrong, I can easily play against Yasuo but his ult is generally unfair compared to many other champions.

i stand corrected. however this is still accepable. nowhere near 50% playrate of vayne last season.

Depárt1 votes

I actually stand corrected myself, 11% is only his top lane, his overall playrate is around 21.5%, and Vayne has never reached a playrate past 37%ish. and that was due to tanks running rampant.

she had almost 50% playrate at the end of last season and it didnt have anythng to do with tanks. just with her powerspiking too early and being generally too strong.

Depárt1 votes

I've already looked at facts, highest she's ever been was 37.9% playrate with a 46% banrate, and that was at the time that top, jungle and support were all tanks, commonly 3 tanks a game, and as we all know Vayne is the most effective adc to deal with that kind of stuff.

His ult is literally his only teamfight presence, it's essential

Um yeah.

Same with Talon

CeexSett1 votes

He has W for teamfight presence. He said literally, Yasuo has Literally nothing else.

Not arguing about who is stronger, just pointing out.

Troll for Trump3 votes

His W isn't teamfight prescence, he needs it for his dmg combo on a squishy target. It's not like an AOE slam like Malphite's E. It's for dmg application.

In that case, Yasuo has his EQ(aoe) and windwall.

talons ult gives an assassin with a gapcloser and no pre-condition to use it stealth and a speed boost, who the hell are you kidding with this?

Stars Shaper3 votes

Talon ultimate is on-demand, deals more damage, is also an escape mechanism and gives stealth.

The problem with increasing its cooldowb is that it's an integral part of his kit in dueling and teamfighting.

Yasuo was built around having low cooldowns on his abilities because they honestly don't do that much damage by themselves.

But when you combine them with proper use and correct items, they allow the player to output some of the highest mid game dps

Only Play Darius2 votes

His ultimate is dependent on him landing another skill and for much of the game he doesn't want to be in the middle of the enemy team.

Stars Shaper2 votes

Toi be fair, to land 3 skills (2 charges + 1 knockup) at least.

Put he has a large area of effect knock up, or any team mate can also use a knock up for him.

  1. He can be shot out of the air really easily.

  2. He needs to get that god damn airborne shit.

Aatrox Alistar Azir Blitzcrank Braum Chogath Gragas JarvanIV LeeSin Malphite Nami Nautilus Orianna RekSai Sion Zac .

Knockups really aren't that hard to get.

GULAG 4 U1 votes
  1. aatrox is shit. Like how the fck can you lose lane to an aatrox.

  2. It requires you to model your team around to fit yasuo. And that's not always good. And if you make a yasuo team, and your yasuo fuck ups, you're going to be meh.

Darkslayer851 votes

Aatrox just freezes the wave under his tower without even pushing and farms with the heal option on his Q. The minute I dive him when he's on 200 hp, he just gets passive and knocks me up under his tower.

GULAG 4 U1 votes
  1. You can freeze too, all of his spells other than sustain will push lane. If he tries to sustain quickly he also pushes lane. And why the fck are you trying to dive an aatrox with his passive up? Like unless you're boosted you don't do that.
Darkslayer851 votes

I dive to POP the passive and then try and get out. With any other revive champion this costs me 2 or 3 tower shots. Nothing much as a tank. But Aatrox? He turns the fuck around with his ult and murders you.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

It's 4 seconds. You shouldn't be tanking shots. You perfectly should be able to get out of the range of his q. You're doing things wrong, aatrox is not good.

Yasuos ult is talons passive but better + talons E + talons ult

All put in 1

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

even though it rquires airborne to use yasuo ult. its a lot more reliable. its point and click and you aren't gonna die in the middle of it 99% of the time

Meep Man3 votes

I do agree with Riot that it should have a lower than average cool down since you can't just use it. They have to be airborne. However, other ultimates that have a requirement to use, like Gnar who needs to be in Mega Form, all have a cool down of at least 60 seconds. In fact, unless I'm mistaken, Yasuo is the only champion who's ultimate is on a cool down lower than 60 seconds while still having a single big effect on the battlefield worthy of being called an ultimate.

ÂzaIea2 votes

Katarina's Ultimate is 45 seconds at lvl 16.

Troll for Trump2 votes

Yes, but Kat's ult puts her at a much higher risk.

morris12 votes

Yasuo's ultimate also has the requirement of knocking someone up. He needs to have someone knock up multiple people or somehow manage to do it himself to achieve his teamfight presence, so just like Gnar it's more about when you are in the situation to use it than when you are available to use it.

Crossette1 votes

Comparing him to Talon was a bad choice. Let's look at something else.

Ramping E damage making you max that, fine. Means his Q is going to hit max damage later, so his early game isn't as much of a problem as you would think. They should lower his E damage by like 5 per rank though, I know people are going to disagree, but having an AP spell do 200 damage to a champion at rank 3 isn't cool.

What the ACTUAL problem is, however, is that his ult has a 16 second cooldown at 45% CDR at max rank. That means you can basically use it twice in a fight, resulting in keeping your enemies in the air for approximately 5 seconds depending on how many knockups you land and how long you wait to ult.

The other problem is what people actually complain about, his passive. Double crit and a free 200 health shield for walking around? Sign me the FUCK up.

Salron1 votes

It's probably mainly because it has a prerequisite

Increasing the CD early game to 100s would be fine but it needs to stay the same at rank 3

Having a prerequisite doesn't really justify it having a lower cooldown. It justifies it being powerful, which it absolutely is. I've seen Yasuo ult twice in an extended fight with 20% CDR, which is really dumb. Cooldown should be determined by an ability's impact not how difficult it is to use, and Yasuo's ult is extremely high impact.

I agree that nerfs should probably be directed to his earlygame though. His entire laning phase should really be reworked so that he's not so binary in lane. As it is right now he probably has more lane matchups that could be described as either "virtually unwinnable" or "incredibly easy" than any other champion, and that's really not healthy.

TyrekGoldenspear1 votes

Yasuo Well, if my team doesn't bring a knock up, I almost never use it. So it's technically on an infinitely long cooldown if I'm zoned.
