So given the direction league has been going, how long before we see one of these again?

  • Movement speed:

  • Movement speed bonus on all boot items has been reduced by 25

  • Base movement speed on all champions has been increased by 25.

  • Cooldowns:
    • Cooldown of all abilities have been reduced by 30%
    • Cooldown reduction cap has been reduced to 20%

These numbers end up at a total of 44% CDR, as opposed to the current maximum 45%.

With the new keystone coming in, to convert excess CDR into raw stats, it seems like this would be a plausible change for riot to make, much to my disdain.

I really fed up with the way riot is trying to redesign their game, but this is the kind of change i could see riot making, given the direction that they've been pushing the game for years. If riot wants to make such a game, they should've broken it off into a new IP years ago, instead of slowly phasing out pieces of the old design and replacing them with a new design, which, when completed, will be a completely different game.

No! Really?! It's not like the title and my phrasing throughout the whole post was making it clear that this was a fictitious change, simply of the variety of global stat shifting from items to champions that riot has done in the past. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

All of the conditions seem to be building up for them to do something like this. People are rightfully recognizing, and getting sick of, the over abundance of CDR, they're adding in a method of getting value out of excess CDR (meaning they will not need to change itemization quite as much), and over the past 3-4 years they've done nothing but increase the average speed of the game (making this kind of change perfectly in line with that philosophy).

you act like they are planning to do it.

Because it's a logical step for riot to take. Even if they don't end up doing exactly something like this, it's the direction the game has been headed. This change is just an "answer" looking for a justified "problem", the question becomes would riot use such an "answer" and when/if such a "problem" will be brought to their attention?

They might not want to create a jarring change to the pacing of the game like they did with boots, which makes some sense with regard to a substantial number of players already being on edge with the direction of the game, it's something that they've been moving towards for years. In the next 3 years, if they continue with their current trajectory, it's completely reasonable to expect a net change of this effect. Be it a massive general change as stated or a gradual one over the span of time, it doesn't make sense to be complacent in the implementation of such a change.

you're saying how bad of an idea it is and you're saying it's a logical step? no, it's not a logical step, it's a bad idea and riot isn't planning on it at all

Yes, logical and bad are not mutually exclusive.

Riot also never lowered game duration, reduced the average ult CD, or reduced average AP.

The way i phrased it was hyperbolic and a change that i wouldn't expect riot to make due to fear of backlash. That said, there is no effective difference between giving every champion 20% CDR on their required items and the change i proposed.
