Signs a game is dying - Starcraft vs LoL
Balance issues Starcraft 2 has had balance issues since day 1, whenever I try to look up tournament matches and see Zerg or Protoss are still able to cheese other players.. I am immediately turned off from wanting to play.
LoL is constantly having balance issues, and this has been showing up as a problem in pro play.
People take a break from league and decide to watch videos to bring them back into the game... and they see people dying in fights with no counter play, or they see immediately that teams have won through champion selection rather than individual skill levels.
Boring expansions (multiplayer) Each expansion never really enhanced the multiplayer scene, and the most recent protoss expansion essentially dumbed down the game with fewer scv/probe/drone counts on the mineral line. People liked seeing pro's practice and dominate people through solid play rather than cheesy strategies (terran cheese, stargate rush, roach/muta or all-in plays in general)
Each major update seemed to make towers even more weaker, game times went down and we see that now kills and bounties play such a huge part in the game. Players like to see pro's doing something amazing, being able to survive in longer fights enables more interesting things to happen. Even though tank meta and shield meta (without ardent) seemed to be a plague to a vast majority, it is now sorely missed because team fight times have been cut in half thanks to players getting insta deleted in fights.
How will the casters even explain what is going on in fights other than say X player got deleted?
Tournament scene is turning stale Players really didn't like how maps.. never changed in starcraft 2, they were all literally the same with each player spawning cross positions and on the high ground. I think one of the newer maps players were separated by a mineral line.. really? After two expansions and major patching we still never saw a shift that made Terran able to play Mech again (Except for literally 1 player in existance) I remember seeing Thorzane dominate the game with his mech terran, very solid macro and he was hard to cheese.. then won the tournament.
I don't think I saw an enjoyment in any tournament, except for when Azubu Frost were playing with Anivia and Singed in the solo lanes (too bad they got kicked for screen cheating LOL) Then we fast forward to the most recent tournament, where Faker... was forced to go along with the shield meta and couldn't play any interesting strategies because of how dominant ardent was. And the funny thing is, it's literally still happening.. and nothing has changed. I saw faker play Morde in the bot lane and said.. yea I'm completely done watching this tournament.
(I haven't even mentioned funneling yet)
Big name players leaving Essentially starcraft brood war was centered around Flash. When he wasn't succeeding in Starcraft 2, despite literally being the best of the best Terran players in the world.. I stopped playing too.
League of legends has a few names that are thrown around, I'll start with HotshotGG. Then two big name youtubers quit the game; Dunkey and Sky Williams. We have yet to see any new BETTER NA players in tournaments.. simply because we keep wasting two slots to pitty the prior championship finalists.
This is also happening in Counterstrike - Some of the best teams don't make it through the lan's. . yet some prior championship winners are given a free pass. Honestly every single tournament there should be a new roster of teams that earned that spot. But then ranked 5v5 got removed, New teams have no options to qualify, the general populace don't even see sign up rosters LOL
Supply of newer players go down Starcraft 2 eventually became downright boring.. and frustrating to play. It was a mix of a few things but generally it was simply because of how the game mechanics were that destroyed Starcraft 2. It was supposed to be an enhancement of Brood War, but ended up being a quick cash crab for Blizzard (And players realize this pretty quick)
League of legends is supposed to be the best MOBA game out there, yet these changes keep disappointing the veterans, and the newer changes aren't yielding newer players into the game. I've told my friend so many times that we should finally retire from league of legends, why play a game with a broken matchmaking system that is extremely time consuming? For a 5v5 team oriented PvP game, it doesn't feel like it. PvP = Both players try hard, practice hard and have good games. PvP in League of legends is stunted, practice is thrown out of the window thanks to reworks and massive game changes, players on both teams don't try anymore (feeding is a huge issue in this game, with no punishments to players going double digits) and games aren't really "good". They end after champion selection and whoever gets 3 kills.
Thanks for reading guys.. I'm sorry to see your favorite game go down this path.
