So far, how many times has Riot rocked the MMR boat this year?

Here's my count:

Positional ranking removal (gave people who played more than 1 role an MMR Much lower than their primary role rank they were given (Some cases, 5-6 tiers difference between the two, destroying any possible LP gains simply by making you require 70-75% win rates just to maintain your rank)

Kayle/Morgana (Mostly Kayle) Initially made lane phases weaker at the beginning, but created an unstoppable machine once level 16. Win rate/release exploded for both champions.

Yuumi: Popular pick, even though she had an initial horrible win rate. Not the best champ for TEAMS to learn to play with, and actiely shoved MMR's down simply by being picked.

Mordekaiser: Ult going to fundamentally change the game. Going to increase his play rate by 5 fold, and probably lead to MMR increases for some players just for picking him, and MMR losses for players losing hard to him while learning to fight against him.

Qiyana: Yet another champ introduced only 3 weeks after Yuumi release. Looks to be sleeper OP, but hard to tell. Lots of damage enhancements in the same kit, a stealth option, serious CC (Push back, Root), massive aoe ult. Hard to tell how she's going to affect MMR, but generally, new champions always destabilize LP gains/losses simply by being picked.

This isn't even mentioning Yi changes, Aatrox changes, Jax with Shojin's, etc.

I do generally think though; players are not keeping up with the changes, which is a signal Riot is going too fast.

I agree. Way too many new champions and reworks too fast.

The main issue's Riot's refusal to just reset MMR.

How many people don't play for a long period of time, then come back to face the same level of enemies, despite the game they haven't even been playing being completely different?

LP/MMR issues catapulted lots of players into Diamond+ ranks, others in the lower ranks also got inflated ranks. Instead of a proper reset we got "enjoy having high Plat 3 players in Diamond now."

Champion reworks and releases being allowed in Ranked is just another one of those weird uniquely Riot issues. The rate of releases would be fine, even if it was far increased a fair deal, but why are new championsa nd reworks playable on release in a ranked game modes?

No one knows how powerful they are(n't) in the real world. Aside from the small group who plays on PBE, no one knows how to play as, with, or against them yet either.

Dude fuckin diamond promos and im still getting like a plat 4 47% WR player in my game who is NOT duo.

Gold 5s for five seasons suddenly diamond 4 obviously with like 30 games more lost than won continuing to have no clue what they are doing in this elo and ruining the game.

Hard reset should have been the answer. You can't just introduce two new tiers, remove all 5th divisions and change nothing about the MMR and expect everything to work out well. Now you have thousands of people way too high or too low where they actually belong and it will take atleast another half a year of people playing every day instead of tanking their rank to settle it out.

Do a hardreset, accept 2 months of wonky matchmaking but gain a restored rank integrity again. Right now its a fuckin joke and every game comes down to "who has more early season LP abusers".
